They could. If it weren't for the fact that suddenly every developer have cold feet. Before Battlefield 3, developers usually don't comment about the PC versions much or that it will be a slightly better looking version. After DICE announced BF 3 and saying that the PC version will be the superior version, all hell broke loose. The console crowd didn't take kindly to that.
It very obvious if you care to read the articles after that announcement and reaction. Sudde...

You're using that? That's Sony! SONY, a console publisher shutting it's PC studios during the early years of the Next Gen War. They burnt those studios during a time it needed enough resources to fight off the X Box 360. The same goes for Microsoft and several PC studios under it. It's even sadder. Sony dropped those studios due to sales. Microsoft dropped it's PC studios almost for no reason at all. Do you know what those PC games studios di...
I on other hand still haven't got a Windows 7 in my PC! Going to get it next week along with an SSD (hopefully). I guess I have to soldier on with my current HD5850 with it's broken fan.
Yeah. WTH! It's just a short article on something the author didn't like. Is it supposed to a sarcastic article? The DLC isn't worth it to make a proper review of? Is it an unfinished article, a draft? But it still got a 90.
Still, it's sad that you to buy a DLC just to get the game to play properly as it was supposed to in the original.
I think the PC versions are some sort of peace offering or toll payment from console developers. Like Capcom's Street Fighter.
There's something that they want in return in the future. How else do you explain their willingness to make another game for the PC version even if their sales are terrible?
The most likely suspect is the MMO scene that is prevalent in the PC. They want access to this burgeoning market and they need to appease the locals firs...
People, mostly the gaming site journalists, make a big deal about Battlefield 3 Beta because of tiny war of words between DICE and Activision. We all know how over the past several months how DICE have the upper hand in every announcement of BF3 compared to MW3 (in terms of shock and awe). It started with the 3 part trailers, then the Frosbite 2 videos and culminated with the E3 live demo showdown. All Activision have in their sleeves is the same old game engine and support for the colour bli...

Not only they are held back by that technology, they are virtually trapped. How many developers have you heard using DX 11 to promote their latest games? Crytek was a little doubtful whether to release the DX patch for Crysis 2. The moment they did release the patch, we have modders make better looking textures mods compared to the vanilla textures. Even Skyrim for the PC was deliberately designed not to push beyond the capability of the console versions even though they can. We'll see wh...
So when a PC game comes out all pretty and dazzling, they say : "So, what? Graphic is not important, it's the gameplay that matters."
When a PC sims comes out they said : "better sims than GT5/Forza 4, they are not as graphically impressive as those two."
At least gamers have a heads up with what they might face and the developer have time to fix those glitches.
Unlike Rage.
BF3 : terrible at Beta, weeks before launch. Not really the same version they will finally use.
Rage : terrible at launch, which is after beta, after it gone gold, after 7 years of development.
Which do you prefer?
I used to be a pirate up to a couple of years ago. I HAD to since there weren't any shops selling original software.
I even boasted to my friends about my "ambition" for owning original software. As I expected they just laughed at me. Even now most of my friends would look at me in astonishment and disbelief when I told them of my monthly purchases.
When I did find one local online purchasing site that have original games, I was too far away to have them...
Epic has Unreal Engine 3.9. It uses the latest Dx11 hardware thus capable of pretty graphic.
And yet Epic isn't going to use that particular engine now even though there are PCs capable of playing it.
No. They are waiting for the X Box 720 to be released instead. They touted the engine as the next gen graphic for future consoles. And yet current PC hardware are already capable of playing that engine if they actually make a game out of it.
I really...
Ensemble reminded me of the fate of the Taj Mahal's enginneers in India. The moment they finished with the construction, the king ordered them all to be executed so no other kings will have the same grandeur as he does.
The very day Halo Wars went gold, Ensemble was announced dead.
Eerie.
Coincidentally, a week or two ago there was a lot of noise about a poll by indie developers about which publisher/platform is best to work with.
Maybe they already have (or at least able to) but decided not to use it. First reason would be the inherent controversy. It's bad enough that parents are in uproar over links between violence and games (thanks GTA) and a Norwegian used CoD to "practice" his plan to shoot some campers, imagine the catastrophic repercussions when games suddenly allow you to shoot some guy that looked so real!
Even if they do allow such games to be released I'm sure that there...
Last I read Origin can also be uninstalled after you installed the game. And the browser only appears when you want to play the multiplayer. Just like in Battlefield 4 Free and World of tanks.
Unless they've drastically changed everything they've told to the public then I don't see much problem in that.
The only arguement that I've consistently read from posters (haters) is that Origin is not Steam. That's not as strong enough reason to ...
It's strange seeing these new gameplay videos and reviews of a game I've already played 4 years ago....Night vision videos, grenade in trees videos, boat and tank battles...I'm already played it to death for years and yet here I see people who had just got their hands on it are in awe.
I guess this is how a console gamer feels like whenever PC gamers had just got their version released, months/years after the console versions were out (GTA4, RE4 & 5, Fable 3, ...
Remember those film trailers that showed amazing scenes from an upcoming action movie. Only to realize that those scenes are a mere fraction of a boring movie.
I hope the beta was the reverse of such a concept. Show a crappy version first, release a jaw dropping master piece later.
Here's hoping.
Mainstream view :
We have games like the Battlefield and Call of Duty Series being praised for adding realistic elements with each passing sequels.
We have games like the Arma series and flight sims not praised for being realistic day one.
I prefer balanced realisme.
It's all about how acceptable the realisme in a game should be. If it a game claiming to be a simulation, go ahead, push those 5 buttons to prep an AIM 120 missle ...
There's no way to satisfy the blood lust :
Using the SAME game engine for a decade - good business sense or just milking the same old cow.
Using a NEW game engine - risk taker or a graphic whore.
As much as I like the Battlefield series and I already pre-ordered BF3, EA/DICE did leave one bad impression on me: Battlefield 1943 for the PC.
