"This is why i don't get why PC guys are up in arms"
"Nvidia demoed Kepler...
running real time ray tracing around this time last year"
That's why, perhaps. PC guys are pretty riled up since there's a lot of tech in their expensive cards but no one's using them. They have to wait for the consoles to catch up before any of the unused features are utilized. Now comes a game that will be one of the first to use one of ...
I do share a similar view but in reality it's much more complex than that. For us it's a hobby but for Sony and the rest, it's business. Gamers can say "we can all celebrate them equally" all they want but Sony and MS would rather have those gamers to buy their products exclusively.
It's funny that with each iteration consoles are becoming more and more like the PC, especially with next gen. They are becoming more like the PC in order to stay relevan...
nothing beats couch co-op gaming...
Have you heard of LAN parties and Counterstrike? On my last night at my previous workplace, we had a 12 (6v6) players match between the new workers and the old. How can the PC be anti social when I get to meet new people?
@Skarlett
PC gamers - pretty expensive hardware, cheaper software cost.
Console gamers - cheaper hardware, much more expensive software/service cost.
PC game makers have to constantly let their games sell at a low price to get them sold while console makers have to sell their consoles priced lower than they actually cost to attract more buyers. PC hurts the game makers, consoles hurt the console makers. In other words we're pretty much th...
In theory yes, it's a win/win situation. There's the obvious fast and better ports between platforms that everyone from both sides have been championing about. Can't argue against that.
The real test would come to exclusive games. A similar architecture would mean ANY game can be built for both the PS4 and PC with great ease. Diablo 3 is coming to the PS4 but...will the PC see The Last of Us?
Over the past one week there has been quite a comparis...
There's one element that is kinda missing in TW2 : rain. It's not much of a feature but it adds up to the atmosphere of the open world. In the first Witcher it rained a lot and it's a wonder seeing NPCs running for cover and wait for it to stop.
In TW2 I kept seeing those game tips on loading screens saying that rain will affect your fire spells and yet I encountered rain only once, in the second playthrough! Even so it was awesome. I was startled by a sudden dea...
I've seen the total mayhem (in a good way) modders did with Just Cause 2 so I can't wait for Sleeping Dog's.
It's globally agreed on among console owners that the PC is an expensive (if you want it to) platform to invest. Yet, it's the PC that console makers are emulating all these times especially with next gen. The PS4 is said to make game development easier thanks to the PC architecture it's copying while MS's Windows 8 is an blatant attempt to lock down the PC experience to the 720.
The PS4 is built using modified mobile APU from AMD, so what's stopping AMD f...
I can't blame Gabe Newell for always online DRM because I've always play my Steam games in offline mode (games start faster this way).
I only go online when there's an update or for multiplayer. Can a truly always online DRM allow me do that?
A lot of, if not all, of the console only features the guy said can easily be applied to the PC version. Dodge, bob-and-weave, direct control. He's talking as is you can't play a PC game like a console version when you plug in a controller.
I can easily switch between KBM and an X Box 360 control scheme when playing Bastion. Blizzard on the other hand thinks it's impossible.
The only exclusive feature PC gamers are stuck with is the always online...
@GamersRulz
" but MS actions (if true) is a disgrace to gaming industry."
That's what I said about Blizzard and Diablo 3's always online DRM but who's going to listen to me when millions are buying it up. PC gamers against this kind of DRM have succeeded against Spore (EA's first push to use the DRM) and Ubisoft over the years only to flounder against Diablo 3....thanks to D3 fanboys.
It's admirable to show such contempt...
Yes...the super expensive Titan is 3X faster than next gen consoles. Yes, it's the same old console optimization vs overpowered PC hardware argument.
So what about the Geforces below the Titan? For example the GTX 760-780? Won't they be based upon Titan and possibly perform near/surpass the Titan without reaching the $1000 mark? What happens then?
@ Monkeysmart
Why not? Console gamers love to brag when their next gen consoles outperform PC hardware when they launch. First it was the CELL processor will kill PC gaming and now it's the GDDR5 RAM. So it's natural for PC gamers to reply in turn with better hardware in the years after. Console gamers then will fight back with the gameplay vs graphics argument while they wait for the next-next gen rumors to start the cycle all over again.
Good for AMD. Don't go reveling as yet though since there's nothing else for Intel and Nvidia to do except to out do AMD, make their even better products. We've seen this see-saw of events before. AMD's Athlon VS Pentium, ATI's Radeon VS Nvidia's Geforce. It took several years but they replied with Intel Core 2 and nvidia's Geforce 8800 GTX.
Now it's ATI's and ARM's turn to shine but we all know Intel and nvidia is cooking up something ...
I thought I was having some sort of FPS fatigue when I passed the chance to buy some of the game that come out this this year. I even thought I would wait for some sales to buy them. Well, EA Spring Sale has started and no I was in no mood to buy any of them.
Now I realized that I was subconsciously boycotting EA for it's decisions over the past couple of months in particular enforcing micro transaction in all of it's future games and Crytek's going full on F2P. I...
PETA is going to have a field day with the dog killing scene.
So the console gamers are gloating with glee to be able to play a better version of Diablo 3 from the PC gamers. It's nothing more than a response to age old PC gamers' "The PC version has better graphics and higher resolution" gloat over the year.
We get it. You get to play a popular hack and slash that doesn't require any permanent online presence, no stinky RMAH, coop from the start, not looking for good ping to play the singleplayer.
So it's all a big fat lie then: those reassurances from everyone (from gaming sites and pro-console PC gamers) that the next consoles' PC-like architecture will benefit both console gamers and PC gamers alike. Easier, faster and better ports between platforms. No more crappy ports for the PC.
In other words PC gamers were right to whine like they did when the PS4's hardware spec was announced. It's a pity that they too focused explaining console fans what the ...
They can't hear us!!!
There's a huge wall of money (thanks to other PC gamers loyal to them) between us and Blizzard so all our rants and "Fuck Yous" can't reach them. No matter how loud we scream at them that freaking wall is just getting larger and larger.
"PC is tied in consoles hands"
"PS4 is great news for you even if you don't like it." and then you said:
"We are getting great games such as killzone and you can't play it without ps4" How is that great for PC gamers?
And console gamers wondered why some PC gamers hate console gamers. PC gamers have been using DX9 for years and were eager for DX10 to make its debut. Nooo...instead MS released X Box 360, forced Alan Wake (t...
