"I was supposed to write a logical conclusion to this, but I’m too busy going sue James Cameron because Jack died at the end of Titanic."
Hit the nail on the head. There's nothing more to the entire debate than this.
regardless of what they do, people will always find something to whine about. Can't believe all this crap is still going on, I seriously lol'ed when I saw the lawsuit though.
Just now had a look at her face, and someone linked to a photograph of this lady. I thought it was a dead or incorrect link until I found it in a screenshot from ME3.
Given how much they spoke about how important it was to get it right, I'm a little confused as to why they would do this.. Was it left in on accident? Was it supposed to be a different image, and this just a placeholder?
I think one of the main barriers for this type of technology as of now is that people would be moving around, unable to see what's actually around them. You'd have to somehow make people think they're moving when they're not, and catch those signals, using them for the game instead.
Ps. Once you've managed to overcome that barrier, imagine playing a game like Amnesia with it :|
looks more like a typo than anything else..
"They're not cutting out characters from the movie"
Except there's no evidence to support that statement. Everybody who has the character has already come to the conclusion that it is no different from Zaeed in Mass Effect 2, e.g. a bonus mission and a bonus character that add nothing to the actual game.
" if that were true, they would have never sold that content as day 1 DLC to begin with and people would have been fine"
...
Except the content was never meant for non-CE players. The author writes about his analogy with Music, but it's completely off the mark. A collectors edition of an album would probably include some extra content over the regular edition.
The game goes gold weeks before it actually releases, which is why first-day patches are rather common. The DLC was clearly planned before the game went gold, though it was planned as DLC exclusive for those who bought the collectors edition. You can say that it bothers you that the content was created, but in the end it wasn't even meant for the normal players, but only as a nice 'thank you' gift for buying the CE.
The reason the missions aren't on the disk ...
Great that you can unlock him as a squad member, but does it come with the mission? I'm guessing that's what you're actually paying for..
Which is exactly what I expected it to be. I guess when people find something to whine about, they just leave their brain at home.
What the character is doesn't matter, you weren't afraid of it affecting the story before, and that wasn't because of the race of the character.
It's an exclusive character, which means it does not play any part in the main story. Play the game, find out, and tell me that I'm wrong.
I don't see the mission, voice recordings, or anything even remotely completed in those images. The character was modelled, but his story wasn't finished when the game was. The character was always meant to be a collectors edition exclusive character, as DLC. I didn't hear anybody complaining when it was exclusive to the CE.
Based on the fact that the demo is funded by Sony, I'd say the game attached to it is indeed an exclusive title.
Looks Great! Wish I had the time to actually finish Brotherhood...
I'll wait for actual gameplay shots before making any judgements.
@Dude420
With Arrival, Bioware very clearly stated that it would serve as an arc between the second and the third game. That isn't the case for this DLC, so it's far more likely that this DLC is just fan-service.
Lol, in that case - have fun watching us enjoy it and complete the story :)
You're jumping to conclusions. There is no evidence of the said prothean playing any important part in the story at all, and it's unlikely, given Mass Effects track record with DLC characters, that he will play any part in the story. It's far more likely that the prothean is in there simply because Bioware wanted to give a bit extra to CE buyers, and NOT because it's somehow relevant to the story.
But instead of arguing and bickering about it here on N4G, how ...
" The issue is wwhy are they penalizing customers of the standard edition for not buying the CE edition. "
They're not. The content was never meant for the standard edition. If they're penalizing anyone, it's the people who pre-ordered the CE, mostly believing they would get a character that was EXCLUSIVE to the CE.
Now they've offered customers to buy the before mentioned exclusive DLC for CE to Standard Edition customers, and sudd...
"Not even close. Hitting the nail on the head would be fans being angry over Jack growing wings and flying away to safety at the end of Titanic. "
No, hitting the nail on the head is the fact that this is the exact same principle as this one, where gamers are complaining about the ending of a product that they did not create. It's a story, and the ending is the writers choice, not the readers. Claiming that the writer somehow misled you, attacking the author for the endi...
