It's not the design but the technology behind it that was patented by World Inc.
That's not related to Game Design or Camera Work in any way, but instead related to the way programmers have solved certain issues regarding the distributed architecture of online games.
Article is decent, though there's one thing incorrect in it. The author mentions that Bioware may have included the gay relationship so they could say "Hey look at us including same-sex relationships".
That's actually not the case. Bioware mentioned they didn't include these types of relationships due to the fact that they saw Mass Effect as a typical PG13 franchise. With that, they believed, gay relationships simply weren't appropriate. The fans, on...
I'm more interested in how to PC version did, though I suppose it's a bit harder to track due to Origin.
Yes and No,
Yes, they should listen to the feedback fans give on their product
No, they should not let fans determine how the next product is coming out, or how the original should be shaped.
The truth about business and customer relations is summed up quite well in Henry Ford's statement:
“If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses.”
Newsflash: Sexual Equality does not, and will never exist. The reason for this is that the two genders, male and female, are fundamentally (that is, by nature) different.
What is far more important is that females and males are both treated with equal amounts of respect, and are given equal rights in the society. But that's not a one sided story, as both males and females are treated unfairly in some cultures. But you cannot ask the two genders to be equal, and for that ...
Portraying a woman in a way that is conceived to be sexy is a long shot from being sexist and not treating them with respect.
If you're really complaining about sexist portrayal of female characters, you'll need to look for ones that are weak in personality, e.g. the typical Danzel in Distress. That's sexist. Like Peach...
I don't think these glasses would be any good for games at all, nor do I think they're intended for that use..
@Krazy - I don't play CoD...
Besides, the others can very well be considered as RPGs, as an RPG (Read: Role Playing Game) is defined by the way in which the story is conveyed to the user, not by clunky mechanics, omni gel and experience points.

EA slipped because Child's Play didn't know of the promotion at the time, not because of some double standard.
The extended ending will clarify what actually happened, and provide additional closure for fans. Those were the two main requests for the ending, on which all the fans agreed. So to keep as many people as possible happy, those are the things that will be fixed.
DLJB, like Pekolie said - no-one's forcing you to start a gay relationship in Mass Effect 3. It's there for the people who want it.
Besides, there's nothing wrong with gay people. It's fine that you're not gay, but there's nothing wrong with the people who are.
It's the journey that matters, not the last 10 minutes. There's some 30-40 hours worth of great gameplay in there, so to ignore that just because of the final 10 minutes is just silly.
Don't mind the fewer paragon/renegade options, and I feel the general move away from traditional RPGs is necessary. I actually preferred the story in the second and third game, though I agree with you on the crew size - I would've liked a crew roughly equal the size of that of Mass Effect 2.
Felt the Mass Effect 1 experience was just overly clunky and old - it had a very rough feel to it.
"just in general bring the whole team back in and do testing"
Not exactly. Most of the work will be by artists for new assets, story writers for the extra cutscenes and voice actors. Leaves a large portion of the team free to do other things ;)
It's the opposite for me, with Mass Effect 3 being my favourite, and the first one being my least favourite. I feel that the third entry is far better streamlined, making it accessible and giving it a modern feel, where as Mass Effect 1 felt old and clunky. That's without even considering the horror of having 100 items overflow in your inventory, and having to turn them all into omni gel.. one by one..
Consoles will never be upgradeable as it'll take away their one advantage compared to the PC. Not to mention that Developers would likely just ignore the upgrade.
Can't compare Console specs to PC specs. It's apples to pears as consoles are consistent platforms (e.g. their specs don't differ, so optimisations can be made), and a console with 1GB RAM is likely able to do as much, if not more than a PC with 2GB RAM.
Not sure if joking, or seriously unaware...

I actually agree.. I don't think foreign sites should be submitted (or even allowed) on N4G. Even if they are translated by Google or your browser, the sites are usually slow, and the translation is difficult to understand. I think there's some work to be done to improve the standards of submitted articles, perhaps using the ranking of websites to categorise it and give users a better experience. Besides, any news that's credible will be on English websites as well.
I'd say his statement is pretty reasonable. Its the second MMO launch I was part of, and the end-result was a lot better than Lord of the Rings Online. Except for the bugs, that is.
