I can run PS2 games better on my Series S LOL.
Not gonna happen, because it's not Nintendo's business philosophy. For in house developed games, strong art direction and recognizable IP that is family oriented. It's made them a shitload of money and will most likely continue to do so.
One could argue that limitations can be a foundation for creativity. I just don't think that Game Freak are very good programmers or 3D developers compared to industry standards. Imagine Monolith Soft making a Pokemon game, or actually done in house at Nintendo. It doesn't matter to them if something else will blow it out of the water though, because any Pokemon title they dump until the end of time will sell millions more lol.
They never will, because the merch, toys, cartoons, etc, are all geared towards the child market and that's where they're really making their money. Nintendo doesn't give a crap about the quality of those games because they're not the ones working on it, and it will always be a more appealing IP for younger kids. Nintendo cares about having two or more games with the Pokemon name on it launching per year, especially during the holiday season. If merch stops selling and the fan...
Death Stranding had an amazing concept, atmosphere and music which I enjoyed. Sadly, the gameplay loop wasn't very rewarding or exciting. If this could be refined and expanded on in the sequel, this could be a really good game.
Probably the best game that I never want to play again.
Yeah, they're on top right now. Only other studio I can think that comes close lately would be Capcom. In the last 5 years, they've released Resident Evil 7, RE2 Remake, RE: Village, along with Monster Hunter: World and Rise. Some slip-ups, of course, but they released two GOTY contenders last year alone.
I think the most likely step for them would be a large expansion to Elden Ring. After that, it's a question of whether they have a vision and the tools necessary to make a sequel, work on something new, or revisit other IP. I think a sequel to Elden Ring should be something they spend another 5 years on or so, to make sure they have the proper polish and tech for the game. I think the most sensible game they could work on now, would be Sekiro 2. Smaller game, more focused experience, alot...
Persona 6 should be exclusive to new consoles to not limit development. 4 Golden and 5 Royal should really be ported to other hardware though. An updated 4 Golden on Switch would be a dream.
You're in for a treat. I've played the fan translation (which they used for the official release, they did fantastic work) on PC and Switch. Such an underrated RPG series. I still think Trails in the Sky SC is the best game I have EVER played.
Honestly, how many online shooters can one play before they become completely burnt out on the genre? I used to eat and sleep Overwatch, and I can't even bring myself to launch a shooter anymore. Went back to Monster Hunter after Elden Ring and a Dark Souls binge. There's a reason why a mostly single-player experience like Elden Ring sold so unexpectedly well. Of course, there was hype, but gamers who have never even played anything like it were hungry for something new.
I really enjoyed the campaign, and the gunplay was phenomenal, but it's pretty obvious that the game wasn't finished, and large sections of what they probably had planned were cut or reorganized. The uneven and low budget story pacing (lack of cinematography in most cut scenes) and inaccesable map areas, for example. The cgi cutscenes in Halo 4 still look phenomenal, and they were able to implement those because they were able to accomplish and develop the game they wanted in accordan...
It was designed for base Xbox One, and the devs have never made an open-world game before. Hopefully they learned alot from the experience.
Really fun gameplay, not nearly enough content. After a week, I had beaten both the campaign and pretty much experienced everything there was at the time in multiplayer. Needed more maps, and definitely could have benefited from classic ones. Valhalla would have been golden.
I gameshare with someone else, they got 2 years of Gamepass Ultimate with their console purchase, and I share all of the games I've bought over the years, so it's great. Got to play Halo Infinite, Horizon 5, etc on launch day at no cost to me. If you have someone you trust, account sharing (making each other's console the home console) for Xbox consoles is highly economical.
Sold my Series X when I moved for $750, bought a Series S a couple months later. I use it every day and absolutely love it. Eventually I'll get my hands on a PS5 digital. Availability is one reason, but I don't want to pay for multiple subscription services, so I mainly use Playstation devices for single player exclusives. A few years in and the prices drop on all of them.
2019 must have been the worst year in gaming history if such a terrible game won Game of the Year xD
I still think Sekiro is the best game From has made yet.
Honestly, I'd put Scholar of the First Sin above Dark Souls and Dark Souls 3. That game has such a different vibe that really resonated with me. I've beaten it at least five times with different characters.
I've always had a pipe dream that Portal 3 would end up being a cross-over with Half-Life somehow, and be a third title in both games xD
The emulator community is years and years ahead of companies doing these things now. Although Nintendo's N64 emulator for the Wii was fantastic for the time, before the guy that built it left. Companies need to reach out and work with the people who already have over a decade of experience with this stuff. You can run PS2 games better on a Series S via PCSX2. And that's with clean room development building from scratch. Imagine if the people who have built the best emulators in their ...
