If you have the digital version (maybe physical too, don't see why not) on Xbox, can change your console time zone to New Zealand and play Thursday, 6 AM EST instead of having to wait until midnight. Almost a day early.
Bayonetta is tricky because Sega owns the IP. Nintendo just has publishing rights because they've funded the last two games. Platinum have been (mostly) solid developers, but they're kinda like, the whores of the gaming industry. I don't think they own hardly, or any, of the IP of any of the games they've made. I can't see anyone really benefiting too much from purchasing them, unless Nintendo does it to basically bring in extra manpower to spread across their own projects...
SotFS was my first Souls game, and no other game I've played as an adult has replicated the experience I had going through the world and beating it for the first time. I still think Majula is the greatest hub area in all of gaming. Definitely in my top 10 games of all time.
Maybe Sony should have bought Monolith Soft and funded their games then, instead of Nintendo. And damn, who cares how many polygons it's pushing? Monolith does stellar work, and I know the game is going to have a great open world and art direction, cool battle system and crazy story.
Replying to your comment below. The best version of Chrono Trigger is the DS version, by far. If you ever get a chance (on 3DS, or via emulation) I highly recommend it if you love the game.
Alot of gamers here might not like BotW (I think it was amazing), but that doesn't mean that game designers and developers don't adore it and look to it to draw inspiration.
Sold my Series X some months back when I had to move. Bought a Series S the other day (can't find PS5 or X for the life of me), and it's a great little console.
Let's be honest here: Resident Evil has never been known for its stellar story writing.
RE2 Remake was fantastic, but 3 should have been a $30 title or expansion considering the amount of content the game had. Also, have you played RE7, 8, Monster Hunter World/Iceborne or Rise? Those games are all amazing. Capcom has been absolutely killing it the last few years. They released two GoTY contenders just last year with RE8 and Monster Hunter Rise.
I kinda like it. If you enjoy playing tank, then you have way more responsibility in game for win conditions in team fights.
Also, every competetive game is toxic lol.
Advertisement. They'll make sure all the players talk about how much better the game is to build hype.
Overwatch 2 is going to be Overwatch 2.0. It will replace the base game. Maybe sometime down the line they'll have classic servers, but I'm pretty sure that's how it's always been planned. I'm all for it, along with crossplay, to keep the player base larger.
If we're talking official releases, definitely the version from Rare Replay. Unoffically, using an AI texture upscaler on a N64 emulator.
My favorites from last year:
Metroid Dread
Resident Evil Village
Halo Infinite
Monster Hunter: Rise
Binding of Isaac: Repentance
Tales of Arise
Could possibly throw Skyward Sword HD in there too. Not winning any awards, but I really enjoyed it.
Potential of both Metroid Prime 4 and BotW2 both coming out this year, and a new Pokemon game in a few days. Monster Hunter Rise expansion as well. These games will all sell hardware without a price drop. BotW2, whenever it releases, is going to be a HUGE seller. Will most likely outsell the original and Nintendo knows this. Expect a crazy marketing campaign and a limited edition console which will sell out in about 30 seconds.
The Last Story was so good, albeit predictable. What I wouldn't do for a sequel. Hell, I'd take a decent remaster.
The S is also an awesome console for the price point.
Perhaps at the moment, but the technology should definitely continue to be worked upon and improved for the future. Devs should familiarize themselves and grow more efficient with its implementation, hardware will probably become much better suited for it, and people with high-end machines can already enjoy it.
It does kind of future-proof some games though. Say six plus years from now, when you can get that performance from a mid-level card, you'll have graphics mods, good fps and RT on these games, and should probably still look really good.
You can basically consider it open-world Dark Souls.
