"Still, nothing about my short time with the PS5 offered anything that felt next-gen, much like the Xbox Series X. Sony’s track record with exclusives helps to ease some of my concerns, but this package is still tough to recommend to casuals, at least during the initial launch window."
He's saying they both suck right now, and outside of better performing games for BC, has either company REALLY given people a good reason to upgrade? I mean, Demon's Souls l...
By that logic, you could say the same thing about every multi-platform game that will exist this entire generation, which is what, 99% percent of games? So either it's not that big of an issue, and can be resolved with dynamic resolutions, or the Series S is literally going to kill this generation of gaming lmao. The truth is, that not many studios are going to innovate on game design philosophies this generation, probably for a few reasons. For one, games are incredibly expensive to make...
Amazon and Google are the competition for MS. The reach those companies have, and power over many people's daily lives is absolutely staggering. As long as Windows is around, and gaming is profitable, MS isn't going anywhere. Just try to imagine the tech we'll be using, and internet speeds that we'll have in 15-20 years. That's why they don't see Sony/Nintendo as direct competition, because MS is one of the companies trying to shape these entire markets into what their...
It's definitely for a casual market. It's cheap, and probably going to be targeted towards people that aren't planning on upgrading past their 1080p displays anytime soon either. You figure, in 2.5-3 years the price will probably drop to $199.
I could be wrong, but I think the One X was still $100 more than the Series S while it was still being manufactured.
Not only that, but if we ignore resolution, the Series S is capable of many things that the One X isn't, like much faster loading times, quick resume, ray tracing, and the ability to play games that aren't going to be cross-gen in the future. The One X had more memory, and a beefier GPU I think, but its CPU pales in comparison to new-gen hardware.
I am ADHD as all hell with games. I'll swap between Xbox, Switch, PS4, laptop simultaneously (HDMI splitters and multi-screen set-up) and constantly lol.
Let's see how many studios take advantage of it. The Switch has incredible rumble capabilities, but hardly any games use it well. I personally find any rumble a waste of battery, and even detrimental to most types of online competitive play. I turn it off on every console I can.
Truth. I'm trying to find a decent monitor for the Series X, and it's very difficult. Nothing HDMI 2.1 yet. And when there is, gonna be expensive as hell.
Yes, that's very frustrating. I haven't even gotten an email saying it might be late, just to expect an email about shipping at some point lol. Ugh.
A game by one of the best devs in the industry, in development for over 5 years, with a near-unlimited budget. It's going to be a long time before we see any games with the production value of that game. The inevitable PS5 updated version will probably have that game looking better than most games for a few years. Not everyone can afford to put a hundred million dollars and 5+ years into a game though.
I cannot think of a great game that has gotten shafted harder than Titanfall 2 by release date and marketing.
Trails! God, what a series. Have you played the Trails in the Sky series? Sky SC is the best game I've ever played in my life, hands down.
Damn, this is hard. I'd say God of War, Breath of the Wild, and either Witcher 3 or Inside. It's an indie game, yes, but that game is an experience man.
Well, it's most likely not going to be PC that brings it to the mainstream, because most gamers aren't PC gamers. Unless another company makes a must-have, stand-alone device, Sony is probably the most equipped among the console manufacturers to deliver the best product. The PSVR has sold the most out of any VR device, I believe, and Sony has shown that they're willing to invest in the tech, obviously, unlike MS and Nintendo so far.
MS would have to make a third-party de...
Power does not mean sales, or influence on the industry at all. If that was the case, the Switch wouldn't be selling nearly as well as it does. Or like the Wii did, for that matter. Whatever market makes VR the biggest, is where the games will go. Isn't PSVR the best selling VR device?
This is just another one of those "nyah, nyah! PC is more powerful and always has been!" No shit, Sherlock. There are plenty of reasons to choose console gaming over one though. Also,...
So say if there's no limit on pre-orders, and five million people pre-order from one seller. Problem is how long will it take to manufacture and ship that amount of units to that seller? Could be months. The buyer has to pay for all that too, the shipping, storing, probably insurance on items, employees, etc. People not willing to wait that long to have the order fulfilled cancel their orders, or buy from somewhere else as soon as possible, leading to a massive loss of money. Also, can...
I'm going to be waiting for the Series X patch version anyways. I want to be able to have a better experience with the game.
Considering how long ago development started, there's no way they could ignore the potential sales of the install bases of current gen consoles. It's gonna be years before next-gen catches up to that. Why do you think BC and cross-gen titles have been so heavily focused on? It gives another reason for people to upgrade. I can guarantee many people have the mindset of "Well, these consoles are expensive, sold out, and there are very few games at the moment, so I'll stick to th...
Loss of too many potential sales with the install base of PS4/Xbox One. That's why most games are going to be cross-gen for a couple of years. No way to recoup development and marketing costs and make a decent profit otherwise, until PS5 and Series X hit high sales marks.
If you live in Japan, then props to you, but that whole country got hit pretty hard there. They don't really have the infrastructure or culture to work from home.
