Many people call The Godfather: Part II the greatest movie ever made. Many others find it absolutely boring. These are matters of opinion, and people see and appreciate or dislike wide varieties of things.
I feel like people are forgetting all the reviewers loudly exclaiming "GREATEST GAME EVER MADE" when BotW was released. It might not be your opinion, but they clearly meant it.
BotW is one of the best games I've ever played, but so is Odyssey. From a design standpoint, Mario Odyssey is on another level than most games in the industry. The mish-mash of ideas they implemented should hardly work, let alone soar like they do.
It's basically a hidden subscription, and they pulled the crap with the first game as well. Basically, certain maps and modes are now locked unless you buy the DLC, when they were available the day prior. It's telling people they can't enjoy the content they already had in the game unless they cough up more money, and it's a piss poor business model. Well, poor if you're the consumer anyways. Activision is laughing all the way to the bank.
That's what happens when you sell your soul to Activision or EA.
IP owned by Sega, developed by Platinum, and most likely funded and published by Nintendo. Sega probably has absolutely no involvement in this other than licensing and particular legal stuff, like making sure certain liberties aren't taken with the character. They will collect for ownership of IP.
Maybe he wants to play it on the Switch? I own a PS4, Xbox, and Switch, and if given a choice for single player games, I'll probably choose to buy them on the Switch every time, so I can play in handheld mode.
The Switch is great, especially if you like indies. Japanese support for the device is going to be fantastic. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is spectacular.
It's Devil May Cry on crack and Japanese acid.
I agree, I'd rather take 900p and 40fps, or something along those lines.
Reports have said that the profits gained from selling the Switch are very minimal, and that it's a very expensive console to manufacture. You also have to factor in insurance, shipping, currency exchanges, taxes from other countries, etc. Also, how much more powerful could the Switch possibly be as the small tablet it is? There are heating issues you'd have to deal with, and the battery tech just isn't there yet. You have to consider market trends, and how much people are willing...
Well on release day, I think the attach rate for Switch copies was more than 1, so every Switch owner bought one, and then some xD
It holds your hand very subtly in the beginning, and is a mark of excellent game design. You can't leave the first island until you obtain your major abilities in the shrines. They're in different types of environments (cold, etc). The shrines teach you how to use the abilities. So in the first area, you learn to climb, eat, forage, swim, use fire, you learn what shrines are, how to use the abilities, that items break, how to cook (sub-quest), that cold can damage you, physics mechani...
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is getting plenty of criticism. It's a very Japanese game and not for everyone. It has some pretty horrible camera issues. I absolutely love it though, and it's one of my favorite series.
Last Story 2 please!
Try downloading the Japanese voice pack, might improve your experience.
I stopped playing it days after release when they were first speaking of adding story elements. I'll finish the game when the story itself is actually complete, whenever that may be.
If you're playing on the hardest difficulty, it is a very tense game.
What I wouldn't give for a remake of the original. Best game ever.
It was still nominated in almost every category, which has got to be a win for the developers. Everyone's going to be waiting for what they do next.
