I can see people with engineering knowledge having a field day with this. I bet there will be quite a few interesting creations people will have on their YouTube channels.
Haven't seen very many of these kind of practices from the Japanese market.
Hyrule Warriors was just announced the other day, all the DLC and content from both versions included.
Which is awesome :)
Who wants to bet that the Switch version outsells Xbox?
The game is not being remade with any new engine; That statement was retracted. So far, seems like it's just a resolution upscale until we hear more info. Also, the only console version of any Dark Souls game to run at 60 was Scholar of the First Sin.
So the question is now: Will this game hold any new assets (textures, lighting, etc), or is it just a higher resolution version than the original?
They don't care about happy, they just see an opportunity to write a controversial article and pump it out as fast as possible to get click revenue. Most gaming "journalism" is a joke.
Dude, I love my Switch. I'm playing Xenoblade Chronicles 2 right this moment.
I have been praying for a Dark Souls 1 remaster on the Switch since Fromsoftware said they were testing the engine on the hardware. The Direct exceeded my expectations.
Wii U owners felt burned by having a Wii U lol. I was one of them xD
Seriously though, there were some absolutely fantastic games on the Wii U which deserve to be played on what will be a significantly higher user base console. It's a no brainer to update these games and bring them over. The reason I sold the console was that I reasoned most of the games worth playing would be ported over to the Switch inevitably. More games to play is not a problem. Bring on Smash 4 Deluxe!
The thing is, they already were flying off shelves. It its first ten months, it's been the fasting selling console in history in the US. My younger self would have been very excited, but now that I'm older and run a business, all I can think about is the damage it could potentially do to 3rd party sales and their relations with Nintendo.
Prime 2 was notoriously difficult on the Gamecube, so much so that they made it easier on the Trilogy release on Wii. It was a fantastic game.
You mean selling faster in its first year than any console in history in the US?
As far as I understand, it does get very complicated as far as licensing goes. That and having to develop new emulators and retest software, probably a big undertaking.
That's what Japanese people want though. Mobile games are HUGE there, and you have fans begging developers to make more mobile games. It's a very different culture. The US has about 2.5 times the Japanese population, but I can assure you that the amount of PS4s sold in the US is more than 2.5 times what has been sold in Japan. They're not really all that into console gaming anymore(compared to the rest of the world), which can be a shame for Western fans of Japanese games.
You know what would be great? A Persona 5 port :D
Think you may have replied to the wrong comment. Also, BotW is one of my favorite games, but everyone's entitled to their own opinion man.
I don't think there's ever been more than two years between a mainline Pokemon game, and in recent times there's been a release almost every year, if you include generational updates.
You're trolling, but regardless: When the owner of the hardware also owns the studio, you get exclusives. That's like asking for Pokemon on PS4, Halo on Switch, or Uncharted on Xbox.
Also, I believe it's the best selling game in the series so far, and in its first 10 months the Switch is one of the fastest selling consoles in history, meaning many consumers definitely don't find it unattractive.
