I always get a kick out of Sony being called the "underdog".
The PS3 sold very well last year, all things considered. None of the huge name games arrived, and the price was pretty high until the $400 40 gig came out. And yet it still outsold the 360 worldwide. How is this an "underdog"?
Not only that, but how can the company who demolished the competition last generation EVER be called an "underdog"? That'd be like calling the Ya...
Honestly, I hate all corporations pretty equally. What I find strange and frustrating are "corporate fanboys" of any variety - those who seem willing to lay down their lives for a company who essentially views them as giant walking, talking wallets.
I always find it interesting when headlines are phrased in such a way so as to imply something is a fact when it's little more than an educated guess.
I remember back when analysts predicted the PS2's demise. Clearly that went well.
My point isn't that the PS3 will or won't do well - all indications are that it will do very, very well - it's just that there's little point in guessing what will happen in the console war 3 years from now. People had hard enough...
Give me a break. You really think Microsoft hasn't learned their lesson yet? I think the *billion* dollars they plan to spend on their 3 year warranty, combined with a ridiculous amount of negative media attention, has taught them everything they need to know about releasing a faulty console.
This is a place for gamers to get together and discuss news about gaming. I fail to see how discussing the same topics day-in and day-out accomplishes much of anything. Especially arti...
Math is *hard*.
*whine*
Fair enough. I am too, after all.
I'm just a little sick of the so many articles on N4G with slight variations just so they aren't "duplicates." If it's pro-PS3, or anti-360, you'll hear about the news half a dozen times or more.
I mean, how is this article subtantially different than all the previous articles about the NPD numbers?
Remember:
If PS3 sales are low, there's a legitimate excuse.
If 360 sales are low, then any talk about shortages is propaganda by Microsoft and it's clear that the sales dropped off because Bill Gates is a big poop head and anyone who owns a 360 is a Microsoft fanboy who despises Sony our Lord and Savior.
Because if it's bad news for the 360, it will doubtlessly get re-posted to N4G at least a dozen times, but phrased in a slightly different way so it's not actually a duplicate article.
Yeah, it's like they all subscribe to some "anti-360" RSS feed. It's a little sad.
And of course, since N4G seems to swarm with Sony fanboys, we can always predict that:
1. These stories will get approved.
2. Anyone who says these stories are getting old will get disagreed with.
The PS3 is a terrific console, but the fanatical nature of many Sony fanboys seems to scare me. It feels like any comment that is remotely positive about...
It is amusing, fascinating, and depressing - in that order - to watch how quickly the press and analysts will do a complete 180 regarding their opinions about the success of a console.
This time last year, we were reading about how the PS3 was doomed. Now it's the 360's that's doomed. It's like they just did a find/replace on all stories about the PS3 and put "360" there instead.
It's obvious these people have no idea what's going on, or how things ar...
Yay more discussion of the NPD numbers!
I swear, these days people spend more time discussing how much a console or game sells then actually PLAYING those consoles or games.
This actually got approved?!
Ugh. Seriously. This offers nothing we didn't already know.
The 360 failure rate is unacceptable. Microsoft should be embarassed by it. But why do we need a story on N4G EVERY DAY about it?
There's no word to describe this other than "disgusting."
If God has a sense of humor, Jack Thompson will be shot dead in cold blood some day by someone who's never seen or played a single video game.
Keep crap like "Micro$oft" out of the Gamer Zone, please.
Also, assuming your theory is true, how is this underhanded? Offering pre-order content in order to make a multi-platform game more appealing on your console is pretty standard. People assumed that the pre-order content would be something else. Hardly Microsoft's fault.
I don't really understand why anyone who owns both consoles would get the PS3 version over the 360 version in the first place...
Thank God! Another RRoD article.
Apparently the 360 failure rate is worth talking about *every single day*.
This article is especially exciting, because Gamedaily took the earlier-published number of 16.4% and *did math* to determine exactly how many consoles that would be! Wow! Thanks Gamedaily!
With a death rattle?
Thank God, another "HD-DVD is dead" article.
I was starting to worry that people might forget Blu-Ray has won without a daily reminder.
An Apple console would be the perfect place for the first truly next-gen game of this generation:
Photoshop Hero.

Maybe they could also release a handheld system without a user-replaceable battery!
Did you know the 360 has a large failure rate? And that Blu-ray won the format war?
I know! Crazy! Who would have thought?
Just a friendly reminder that it's sort of impossible to own a 3rd party company, by definition.
