Eh, I've heard quite a few people say the only 360's they can find right now are the Arcade SKU.

Really, if there's going to be a shortage during the year, it WOULD be right now - the Christmas season just ended, during which a lot of consoles are sold in a very short amount of time.

My theory? Microsoft thought the Arcade SKU would sell better over Christmas than it did, so they made too many of those (to compete with the Wii) when they should've been making mo...

I was in college during 9/11, and I remember the whole "Terrorists vs. Counter-Terrorists" angle in Counter-Strike (which I played daily on the school network) seemed a whole lot darker for a few months afterwards.

The annoncement "Terrorists win!" may as well have been followed by "...AND AMERICA LOSES".

I'm offended!...

He could've at least blamed CoD4. I mean, Counter-Stike? Really? Did the school shooting take place in 2001? Did the kid bunny hop around during the shooting? Did someone shout "AWP Whore"?

One of Microsoft's two giant mistakes with the 360 was not making a hard drive standard for all SKU's. They got it right for the original XBox (which I didn't own) and then screwed the pooch with the 360. Not sure what they were thinking there. It's not like hard drives are expensive. Knowing there is a hard drive to stream data to/from is incredibly benefical to game developers.

Having a standard HD in all models could've gone a long way towards remedying any potential DVD...

Double standards and hypocracy are the life-blood of internet message board debates, especially when it comes to console wars.

Microsoft should just have their little elves sneak into every gaming store, shove a hard drive into the Arcade editions then scratch out "Arcade" and replace it with "Premium".

BAM, no more shortage.

...why does no one ever like my ideas? :(

Well, I guess it's good they aren't helping with a PS3 port of Mass Effect, then. Heh.

If they're a small company, I can sort of understand the complaint. Having worked as a software developer at a very small (non-gaming-oriented) software company, anything that takes a long time to learn (such as developing for an entirely different platform) means your entire company - or at least, whoever is doing the learning - is basically idle while the learning process is taking place....

Just listen to a depressing, angsty song like "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" and you'll get the general gist of their reply.

Also, Mass Effect for the PC contains a third wheel for controlling giving individual party members commands? I don't remember seeing this news before. Hope it makes its way into the 360 version, or at least Mass Effect 2: Mass Harder.

Oh sweet, Demiurge Studios!

They made...uh...um...wait, who?

"May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one." - Malcolm Reynolds

Actually, I really don't/didn't care how the format war plays/played out. I just wanted to use a Firefly quote.

Please don't hate me.

The Open Zone reminds me a lot of the GameFAQs message boards.

When I go to either place I'm fairly certain Sony is actually a physical human being who is personally responsible for the concepts of sunshine, happiness, rainbows, candy, puppies, and kittens.

I also imagine he appeared before them and said something along the lines of, "Why doth thou sleep on that regular mattress like a regular peasant when thou mayest sleep on this giant pile of gold instead...

In light of the big Wal-Mart announcement that came down today and hot on the heels of similar recent decisions by Netflix and BestBuy, Blu-ray Disc Association's chairman Andy Parson issued the following statement:

"owned. lol."

I'm not sure if you heard, but apparently the 360 has reliability issues.

Something about a "Red Ring of Death". I hadn't heard about it until today. I assume it's breaking news, though, based on how often people post articles about it.

Remembers, a couple of years ago "Gears of War" was just a new, unproven IP.

Microsoft knows the advantages of adding new exclusive franchies to their roster. It's just a matter of whether or not they CAN do so. Unlike Sony, they don't have two generations of console war victories behind them, which goes a long way towards convincing third parties that releasing an exclusive for your console is worth it.

"Sony Soldiers" unite? Are you kidding me?

It's a corporation - just like Microsoft, Nintendo, and every major company - that views you as a giant walking walking wallet. They want your money. That's it. They have no loyalty to you, why would you have loyalty to them?

Thank you for posting this. People seem to forget this constantly.

Now if only we could make sure fanboys don't run through and click "disagree" on very post that doesn't pour blind praise onto their console of choice.

You know, it's sad. I sat down to write a post to disagree with you, but I had trouble doing so - and I'm a 360 fan.

Most of the big-name 360 exclusives, except for Halo 3, are on or are coming to the PC. Mass Effect was the last hold-out. The 360 still has things like Blue Dragon and Lost Odyessy, but those are far from being blockbuster titles.

The only reason I can see myself getting a game for the 360 rather than the PC is online play. I prefer playing ...
