It's not terribly surprising. Haven't you noticed how increadibly well-thought out, reasonable posts still get a number of "disagrees" because they dared say something remotely positive about a console someone doesn't like?
Unfortuntely, though the new Gamer Zone/Open Zone areas theoretically prevent rampant fanboy postings, they don't prevent those same fanboys from comming in and clicking "disagree" on every post that doesn't glorify their console(s) of c...
"Try reading the whole thing before jumping the gun."
Don't be silly. That's not how things work here. What's the point of having a reaction if it's not of the knee-jerk fanboy variety?
Wow, so apparently expressing enjoyment of Penny Arcade is not welcome on this site. I'll keep that in mind from now on.
Self-edit: removed anti-CAD-minirant because it was uncalled for.
Really, I could care less if Penny Arcade has a fanboy slant, as long as it's funny to me - and it is. Humor isn't supposed to be free of bias, or anything.
People are still bothering to release new FPS games after Call of Duty 4?
Huh. Strange.
<sarcasm>I sure hope it's about World War 2, though! We haven't had nearly enough FPS shooters based on that era.</sarcasm>
My big worry is that this game will suck and tarnish the Call of Duty franchise, since it's because to using the CoD4 developers. I don't think companies realize that they might be better of keeping their franchises strong an...
2008 will be a boom time for the PlayStation 3, says anyone who is paying even a tiny bit of attention to gaming this generation.
Sadly, the sort of super-casual gamer who flocks to GTA just won't care that much about extra content you have to download and pay for. If it were an exclusive expansion pack you could grab in the stores...maybe. But even then, probably not.
In the end, Microsoft may've made a huge mistake when they paid 50 million dollars for something that a majority of the game owners won't ever know about.
But hey, I'm not gonna hate on mistakes I can profit from :P
...
I see what you're saying, but I think people who would buy the Arcade SKU aren't the sort of people who'd care that much about DLC anyway.
I was just thinking super-casual gamers who ONLY want ONE game and so they're looking for the cheapest way to play that game. GTA is the sort of game that brings out the super-casual gamers.
Well, if you want to view it like a gaming company, total units sold is all they really care about, because that means profit. I doubt they care what percentage of the userbase bought the game as long as more people bought it for System A than System B, because in the end, that's how they'll determine where to put future releases and that's how they'll decide if Game X deserves a sequel on Systems A, B, or both.
Yeah, both companies need to get their ego in check, badly.
Interesting, I have't heard anyone say they're getting a PS3 for GTA4 - but then I haven't heard them say they're getting a 360 for it, either. It's all just been speculation on my part.
Maybe I'm wrong, and maybe a lot people view GTA and Sony as two franchises tied at the hip ala MGS and Final Fantasy. If so, this could mean significantly closer sales than I originally guessed.
Either way, it'll be very interesting when the NPD numbers for April and May are ...
Yeah, I don't understand how exactly "Extra exclusive content" isn't a reason to prefer the 360 version of GTA4 to the PS3 version, but "you can install the game and slightly reduce load times" is a reason to prefer the PS3 version of DMC4 to the 360 version.
It's a double standard, and it's silly. I'm sure both versions will be amazing games, but the fact is that the exclusive content will likely help move the 360 version of the game and perhaps even a few...
Cool!
Can we get back to playing games now, or do people actually care about sales numbers?
This game felt like either a bad first generation 360 title or a bad last generation PS2/XBox title, both gameplay-wise and graphics-wise.
It's a shame, because I love "alternate history" stuff.
There's really no reason to trust a developer one way or the other on this.
The only thing that will speak to the quality of Killzone 2, both graphics-wise and gameplay-wise, is the actual release of the game.
Of course a developer is going to claim they will match their target video. They'll claim that up to, during, and even after the initial release. Even if the game looks nothing like it.
I'm not bad-mouthing game developers, in fact, I have ...
Am I the only one who cares about a new Wing Commander?!
Even as a 360 owner and fan, I have to say, quite honestly, this is a fluke.
It's not a big joke, or some grand conspiracy by Sony or Nintendo. The 360 has *subtantial* design flaws that means *every* model made before the middle of last year has a high chance of dying at some point.
It's really inexecusable on Microsoft's part that this multi-billion dollar company "missed" such a huge issue with their flagship console. The fact they're offering a ...
Do people know where this 30% number actually originated from? Apparently it came from some of the larger game store retailers, but even then it's just a guess based on how many are actually returned.
As a 360 owner, I was under the impression it was actually WORSE - from my understanding of the problem, any 360 made before July or August of last year will almost certainly fail given enough time, due to one or more subtantial design defects.
Now, it's possible n...
They still make sequels of games that were on the NES and SNES, too.
Actually, it's meant for everyone except PS3 fans who take themselves too seriously.
I'm sure there are a lot of PS3 owners who laughed and said "Yeah, that install thing is a little annoying."
Not all PS3 (or 360, or Wii) owners are die-hard fanboys with no sense of humor about their console. The internet just makes it seem that way.
