Honestly, as a 360 owner and borderline-fanboy who thinks it's a great system in many ways...16% seems way too low. It's a well known fact at this point that there is a serious design flaw in ALL 360's manufactured before a certain date that will likely lead to a RRoD after prolonged use.

Even if it WERE only 16%, it would STILL be unacceptable for a company with the resources of Microsoft. But I say 33% is far closer to the truth.

This game is going to own my life.

I wish they'd have compared game performance. I could care less if it takes 5 seconds longer to copy a file...

Oh well, I went back to XP a couple of weeks ago anyway. Vista was nice enough, but didn't offer much new and there were too many game compatability problems, even with newer titles like the Witcher.

It's not terribly surprising. There were a lot of 360's sold in the US over Christmas, and people tend to migrate towards the system their friends have. You can play with them online, borrow games, etc.

That, and price cuts, are the big reasons you see sales of a system skyrocket as it gets older. People forget that most of the 120 million PS2's weren't sold until the system reached the magical $199 price point.

You can see the opposite happening in Japan. ...

This sounds like a mistake/typo to me. Everywhere else has said that the 360 is getting two exclusive *episodes*, not missions.

I guarantee Microsoft didn't pay Rockstar 50 million dollars for just two missions.

Also, one is supposed to be released this year, and another next year, due to the added development time. I highly doubt it takes that long to create individual missions.

The best part is that she had the Best Buy Extended Warranty garbage on it.

Guess it goes to show you just how useful those are.

For the love of God, please stop posting Blu-Ray vs. HD-DVD articles. Two of the top three articles on this GAMING news site are currently about the fall of HD-DVD! That seems a bit much, to me.

We know HD-DVD has lost, and Blu-Ray has won. We knew that almost a MONTH ago. Do we really need five articles a day that tell us the exact same thing?

I appreciate your feedback. It's quite possible other 20 gig owners feel the same way. I just know if I had a 20 gig, I'd be thinking "Wait, what? I didn't think I'd have to sacrifice 25% of my HD for a single game."

Part of the benefit of having a console vs. a PC, to me, is that I can grab a disc, stick it in, and play, without worrying about hard drive space, system specs, etc. I can grab a game I haven't touched in months and just GO. It seems like this decisi...

Great point on the international buyout restrictions. I hadn't even considered that.

Is it too much to ask that if you're going to disagree with my post you at least reply and tell me why? I enjoy a good discussion, I don't enjoy fanboys going LOL UR WRONG and clicking "disagree" just because I have a sense of humor about Sony and the PS3.

It's a shame that we can't keep people who post in the Open Zone from going into the Gamer Zone and rating posts.

I could see Microsoft buying Sega in a bid to win over the Japanese gamer, but I'm not sure there are enough Japanese gamers left who care about Sega.

As an alternative timeline:

2008 - EA buys Sega
2009 - Sega announces a new Sonic game for the N64, PS1, PS2, Gamecube, Gameboy Advance, DS, XBox, XBox 360, PS3, PSP, DS, and N-Gage
2010 - The game comes out, and it blows for all platforms except the N-Gage
2011 - Sonic makes a cameo appearance...

I'd love to know how the owners of the 20 gig PS3 feel about this. 5 gigs required to install one game? What if this pattern continues? 40 gig users are a bit better off, but that space can still disappear very quickly.

The real question is, WHY is it required? I think for the very reason you said - the 360 would have faster loading times if it wasn't.

Where did this Penny Arcade "bias" crap start? Who cares if they're bias? They aren't game reviewers or journalists. They're just gamers, like us, who have opinions on things. It's not their fault if so many people take their every word as gospel, that doesn't mean they suddenly have to live up to some level of journalistic integrity.

The people who accuse Penny Arcade of being bias are the same type of people who get upset at the Daily Show for its "liberal b...

So basically, I know absolutely nothing more after reading this article than I did before. What a useless waste of bandwidth.

"We asked EA stuff. They didn't answer. WHAT DOES IT MEAN?!?!"

Seriously, anyone calling Diablo the "Godfather of all RPGs" is simultaneously insulting the RPG genre and showing their lack of knowledge of video game history.

And this is coming from someone who LOVED Diablo 2.

I certainly didn't see this coming. Why would Bioware release a successful game on an easy to port to platform in order to increase their userbase and profits? Especially since their recent purhcase by EA, who is known for releasing ports of their games on as many platforms as possible?

Oh...right.

Seriously though, congrats to PC-only owners. It's a bit sad, since I got a 360 largely for Mass Effect and JUST got a new PC that can likely play it significantly...

You two both need to take your immature console war crap out of the Gamer Zone and into the Open Zone.

I admit I am also tired of seeing HD format war articles on gaming sites. I mean, I know it's somewhat relevant to the console war, but I was raised during the good old NES/SNES times. I'm not used to this "our gaming format is better than your gaming format" and "the success of a console is based on its abilities as a movie player" crap.

I don't buy this article. There were very good reasons for the 360 to NOT have a built-in HD-DVD drive, considering when it was designed and released.

2 years ago, when the 360 game out, HD drives were much more expensive than they are now. The PS3's large price point on release was largely attributed to the Blu-Ray drive. The 360 would've been at LEAST that much with a built-in HD-DVD drive, if not more, considering that HD drives were more expensive 2 years ago than they w...
