Nothing, you're just lucky.
I left my PS3 folding for six and a half days when I went on a trip, and it didn't lock up, overheat, or do anything wrong, but I by no means expect every single system sold to work perfectly. I wouldn't be surprised if someone said they had a defective system; it happens. With any system. It's not something to get upset about unless the frequency of it is obscenely high.
I do agree with what some people say though; if I were shoppi...
One of the few PS1 games I still have on disc. I'd buy it again if they released it with online racing somehow...
Sadly, games have always been held to a different standard than movies. Cinematography is viewed as a passive experience; there is no effort or exertion of will on the viewer's part. Gaming requires you to carry out these "mature" actions. You're not watching someone kill, dismember, rape, etc. Rather, you're deciding to carry out that action, and typically being rewarded for it. There are some that believe this difference (along with the perception that games are for kids) is ...
Anyone remember The Adventures of Cookie and Cream? Now THERE was a game that focused on teamwork.
Seriously though, this game looks like it could be a fun, fresh take on the running and gunning. Having to rely on another person rather than being some super-human solo artist should be fun. And it gives you legitimate room to complain when your teammate screws up.
The reason why is because major retailers (like Wal Mart) will not shelve an AO title. Image consciousness and stuff like that.
That combat stuff in the third clip looks infuriatingly fun. Can't wait :-)
that 6000 isn't total sales figures. It's the first 3 months of 2007. And since I highly doubt that 2.5 million HD discs were sold in 3 months, the percentage is probably higher.
As far as why they don't just focus on games, Sony is more than just a gaming company, as is often stated. They do have a movie division as well that they have to take care of.
I agree wholeheartedly that companies should make some effort toward supporting early adopters. Especially when hardware re-designs and upgrades start rolling out.
I wonder how much of the online will have people performing seperate objectives, and how much will be correlated. Like, it'd suck if every time you tried to carry out a mission, some other agent doing his own thing got in the way. Then again, it'd be cool to be able to team up with other players for bigger missions, or to occassionaly have the surprise of things not going as planned. I wouldn't be adverse to, say half way through, suddenly seeing a fellow agent pop out of nowhere; rivalrie...
I'm still waiting for something as simple as a codec upgrade. When I can play Divx and .avi, and maybe some .ogg if they're in a giving mood, I'll be happy.
To quote my favorite episode of Red vs. Blue: "It's a legitimate strategeeeeeeey!"
*edit*
Seriously; if you've got a sniper rifle, you hole up, and you snipe. Now if you're in some weird section of the map that you can only get to by a glitch (Resistance), then that's one thing. But in Warhawk (and we're reaching the extent of my online multiplayer here), they have nests and stuff, and you prop yourself up there or on top of a hill and go at it. I ca...
Ahh, it didn't? My mistake then.
Knights of Cydonia is my favorite Muse song, but I think Hysteria would have been more fun for co-op. Killer bass line.
I wonder if they can build ducking and dodging into some sort of motion sensing in the gun...
Still waiting on the price to drop on the HD tivo :-(
<<Ohh, don't worry little buddy. I still love you even though your recording is grainy...>>
But we've already seen evidence of the opposite. The Darkness and Stranglehold will both have extra content/media on the PS3 version at launch. And Obliviion was released much later, granted, but they didn't (as far as I know, I don't have the system or anything) lower the cost of downloading the content for the 360 version that came natively on the PS3 version. I'm not going to deny that a copmany will put out a game with the intent of updating it later, but if you have content already ma...
Seriously, not everyone who owns a system fits into some stereotypical niche. I've had a PS1, PS2, and love my PS3, but can't stand playing GTAs, Gran Turismos, Final Fantasies (or ANY RPG for that matter), and Metal Gear Solids.
It'd be cool if they could also send you text messages, along with the e-mails and IMs.

Well, PS3 peripherals just have to be blue-tooth compatible, but Microsoft has some kind of licensing or control over all wireless accessories for their system, right? Maybe that's affecting the cost.
