I'm struggling to figure out what, exactly, the point of saturation or attach rate is of specific games. If, as you say, you've got 5 million 360 users, and 50 million PS2 users, it sounds like you're implying that if you sold to 100 people, you should have the same ratio as if selling to 1000.
There are some other factors to consider though.
Console is towards the end of its life, vs. another console that is new.
Gamers who have the console already own p...
Of the list of ps2 titles presented, I only owned 4: Hot Shots 3, NBA Street, and the DMCs (1 and 3). I did own and love God of War. The only reason I can think of for it not selling well was either because it was just not wanted, because people had bought all the games they felt like buying at the time, because it wasn't marketed well, or, most likely, because it came out right after Devil May Cry 3. They target the same audience, and so, for many people (including myself), it was a "...
I know I'm not who you were directing that to, but while the conversation's civil, I figured I'd drop in.
I have plenty of friends who loved Xbox, 360, and its games. They weren't let down, and feel the system did great by them. It's that EXACT same sentiment that makes Sony fans want to spend $600 on a PS3. Sony has never let ME down. I've been happy with their games for the past8 years. And yet there are people eternally trying to convince me that it's a worthless peice of ...
I personally think the game looks rather impressive. And the style of racing should be fun (I don't enjoy simulation racing). I'll most likely end up waiting for the next Burnout game, but this still looks enjoyable and worthwhile.
Deepio, point taken :)
That does not clarify why people are saying that if the graphics were to be worse, then the console is then inherently a waste of money. I'm not buying it because I think it looks better than a 360 or Wii. I would by a VERSION of the game for one system over the other based on graphics, but not the entire investment in the system, unless the majority of what I played was multi-platform.
You would think charging more for reservations would = fewer reservations, which = more systems "just sitting on shelves" for the walk-in consumer. Assuming fewer reservations means it's easier to fill them all day one, this makes things look good for them (the loyalty you mentioned), good for the average person (hey, I see them in the stores still), and good just in concept of people not scalping them for three times their cost. This also might eliminate the insane bundling, if r...
Lol. Time to add my 2-cents to the bottom of all of this . . .
I just finished reading the PSM article on the game. I'm the first to tell you that I'm not a fan of FPSs. They are, for the most part, indistinguishable. There's very little difference (for me) from the experience of shooting an alien or shooting a person, of running around a building or running around a space ship. Stories and characters change, but it's always the exact, same experience. As such, all I've playe...
*posted in the wrong part :)
There'll be some that are the reverse. I believe Tony Hawk Project 8 and the Indiana Jones game are being developed natively for the PS3.
That's really not that long. It's basically the equivalent of burning a standard 4.7gig DVD in 10 minutes. Burning more data takes more time, and if you're going to max out the entire 50 gigs, you'll have to come back in an hour and a half or so. I doubt HD-DVD's recording speeds will be much faster.
The article states that a second company is to begin producing systems as well. If both match that rate, it's still a fairly low level of systems, unless by "starting in October," they mean early October and letting retailers stock up on them (which I doubt; too risky).
Also, the wording could mean "ship now, reach 2 million a month by October."
If they can reach that 2 million a month mark by December, they should be fine, I guess. Launching th...
I have to admit, that's one of the more impressive things I've ever seen. Despite the fact the game looks good, those physics are awesome. Before they showed using gravity beneath an object to move it with force out of a portal, I was sitting here thinking "yeah, but I bet you can't do that."
Happy to be proven wrong :)
This is the kind of game I've been wanting forever, with real physics. You see something, think of it, and it seems you can probably do it. ...
That's slightly deceptive, as I think most gamers on here are from the United States. The Canadian prices for games (which your link leads to) are about 10 to 15 dollars higher than it is here in the States.
What can I say? Just because it's a good game doesn't mean people will play it, I guess. For example, I have never contributed to the sales of any Gran Turismo, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, or Grand Theft Auto game. Ever. Don't like them. Appreciate them for the achievements they are, but can't stand playing any of them.

The decision's based on thier desire to maintain two platforms at once. As with the PS1, their goal is to have a ten year life span with they system. This will be a reason for people to keep playing and investing in PS2, along with Okami, God Hand, and the Guitar Hero games.
I personally would prefer it on PS3, but as long as the third game in the trilogy is in the works, might as well let them take their time and make it the best, most system-pushing game they can put together.

God of War 2, Guitar Hero 2, Okami, and God Hand. Four reasons the PS2 is still has plenty of future.
Thanks for the approval Achira and Truth, but I have to agree that, although they didn't announce a date, Sony did encourage everyone to believe that the PS3 was arriving spring of this year. Was it a baiting attempt to force Microsoft's hand? Seems like it, as the system and games were nowhere near finished when the season arrived.
And in my previous post, I by no means meant to give the Sony fans a free pass. You'll find plenty of mudslinging from that side as well, althou...
Trust me, I want the system done and on the market as soon as possible too; but without flaws and rushing. Both my PS1 and PS2 performed perfectly, and now that I'm planning on dropping $600, I'd rather it be "done" before it's "out." No rushing Sony!
First, to stay on topic, I loved God of War. Thought it was a whole lot of fun, and the length didn't bother me too much. Can't wait for two, and they'd better make three (although hopefully they can sell copies of two like a "blocksbuster" should be sold).
Now for my first ranting on this site :-P
Is it at all possible for a piece of PS3 news to come out without it immediately being pounced upon and criticized? I'm well aware that everyone's free to share t...
I believe that quote had an "I swear you act like" immediately preceding it.
