Honestly, the voice work was so good, no really need to re-record unless they added content. On the other hand, as the series went on, the scripts became tighter but I could see them re-recording if necessary.

Well said. The problem is then bots would buy up hundreds more so normal people wouldnt be able to get them til march. The bots probably also give a bunch of PO Boxes so sony couldnt even do a thing where it restricts 1 per household.
At the end of the day, it screams lazyness and greed that sony doesnt care how they sell and retails dont care who buys them since they got their money.

Agreed 10000000%. MGS is the perfect game to receive a full on remake. It's a beloved franchise it's IP owners are going nothing with right now. It would really benefit from modern gameplay improvements, it's been largely a Playstation exclusive series for the first run titles(not counting the hd collection or the remaster for gamecube or the OG NES/MSX games). They wouldn't even have to re record everything. The voice acting more than holds up today.

True...amazing what a good launch linup does. The PS4 IMO had a decent but not good launch line up. I myself didnt buy one until Shadow of mordor came out.

Could be but look at it this way, not having the PS5 doesn't make me any more likely to give Sony my money. If anything, it does the opposite.
Right NOW is the time to have a huge amount of stock because the hype is huge...if someone has to wait 3 months, the hype dies down at which point, they may be able to wait even more for the price to come down or worse for Sony, buy it on the secondary market, where Sony makes no money.

Same...sad too, because it was the launch title which I was most excited for. I've already beaten DeS so I can wait to play that and have no desire to play spider man so despite me wanting to get a ps5(but can't because of availability), not really upset about it because there's no must own launch title now.
I remember playing the anthem demo and despite basically being iron man...it felt shallow. If they do an anthem 2, i honestly think it'll be goty because the concept is amazing...be iron man. But just put a good story with it and some variety in missions...

One thing they noted...remake Metal Gear Solid...YES PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Obvious Konami isn't going to do anything with it. If anyone has seen the intro scene remade in unreal engine, it's a thing of beauty, plus, to make MGS1 was the best of the series. To have it back with the gameplay refinements of MGS5...yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Honestly, I think Cyberpunk is going to blow all those games out of the water for GotY. Not that they weren't great games.
Well, it just depends on what you expect. This isn't a FF7 style remake where it really feels like a new game. It looks/feels like Demon's Souls if it were made in 2020.
As long as you know that going in, then I think it deserves the high review scores. Maybe some people thought it was more a reboot than a remake. Really, it kind of stradles the line between remake and remaster. More than remaster but a little less than a full remake.

Unlikely. It's a remake, but underneath, it's still the same game. Sadly they didn't really improve the combat much or the enemy behavior. It'll be a great experience but there are definitely more worthy contenders for GotY this year(one of which will release Dec 10th).
Or those who didnt order within the first 10 seconds from Walmart or Best Buy and missed out all together?
