Yeah, both games really show how important having a likable protagonist is. And by likable, doesn't mean they are the classic good guy, just they don't grate on your nerves...there's a reason you only had one Devil May Cry made from Ninja Theory, because that Dante was pretty annoying.
Honestly, I think it's the other way around. Diablo 4 seems like a bigger release than FF16. Either way, I'm expecting one of them to be moved since there is a good deal of overlap in the target audience.
How is the combat? From the gameplay clips, it looks to be it's weakest feature.
From the looks of it, it also didn't innovate much at all. It looked like Odyssey and Origins with a Viking mod. I've given up hope for the AC series to be anything but a constant cash grab by Ubisoft.
Gamespot is a shell of it's former self and honestly, kind of a useless site not that they don't have good exclusive content, but that game reviews are so plentiful now, it's not like is was in the early 2000s where a great gamespot review could seriously boost sales. We have so many honest alternative review sites, gamespot can go live in cancel culture world and reap the consequences.
Right...it's like giving Dante's Inferno(a Ps3 game from a while back) a bad score because you disagreed with Dante's politics hundreds of years ago. One thing that is really bad is the facial animations. It looks like it's from an early PS3 game, if not PS2. We've gotten to the point where players expect fluid facial animations.
I also agree the start to a game that's so much about gameplay gets off to a snails pace. I get why, to set up the rest of the game but it's like leaning into one of the weaker aspects of the game first, which was not a good idea.

Uncharted 2 was IMO the pinnacle of the franchise. 3 and 4 were excellent games but at this point, it doesn't really feel like there needs to be another game at this point. Maybe in 5 years, but for now, let Naughty Dog move on to a new IP and create another great franchise.

It all comes down to leadership. Does the leadership allow the game to big as good as it can be, or just another money making piece of art. Don't get me wrong, I hope they make a ton of money on this, but you can tell when the main focus of a game is to make money at the complete expense of the game and when it isn't.
Yeah it's standard now that games will come with a day one patch since by now, the game has gone gold.
Honestly, they did such a good job rebooting the franchise without having to remake it, I am super looking forward to this one.
They turned Kratos from a very 1 dimensional character to a great 3 dimensional character and while I can appreciate the OG Kratos voice actor(Kyle from Living Single), the new voice actor is so so good.

Personally, I am putting up with the bad dialogue in Forspoken because I enjoy the gameplay but the main character is just so unlikable...like seriously, get over yourself!!!!
From the clips I've seen, Atomic Heart has the same problem, but with less compelling gameplay for me.
