Uh, most consumers who don't have money to burn, I suppose?

I mean, not counting something like buyer's remorse, obviously once everything is unwrappped and ready to go, yeah, you're no longer thinking about the expense.

However, only the wealthy, idiots, and people who love credit cards too much (also idiots?) don't care about the costs beforehand.

@Sevir

It's amazing how incredibly wrong you are. I'm glad you enjoyed the story, as it was enjoyable, but don't pretend like it's some kind of master class on writing perfection.

Much of it is quite good, but there are many plot holes, random character drop-in/outs for limited purpose, large sections which stretch suspension of disbelief incredibly far... Sections which add nothing to the story. Repeated themes from the previous game.

Although thrawn's post makes absolutely no sense, I'd say the problem with picking up Kingdoms is the fact that there are probably many people still playing through the holiday backlog.

I'm finally playing Arkham City, having finished Uncharted 3 a few weeks ago. Most depressing: I just got Dark Souls the other day. It's next on the list.

Still haven't bought Skyrim yet. My Steam "to-play" list has 40+ games on it. Sigh...

They really need to spend a lot more time and effort on fun gameplay and the script if they want a game to really succeed.

Yes. This is right now. When they talk about a the end of the final console generation, it's 7-10 years.

Look at every other physical medium. Music? CD sales falling year after year while digital continues to rise. Books? The ebook market explodes year after year while legacy publishers struggle to keep up. They aren't adapting to a rising digital market, and they're practically already obsolete. You want this to happen to Sony? Their electronics division will pro...

Reminds me quite a bit of Fable, but with a little less linearity. Combat seems simple at first but looks promising once your character gets a little ways in.

^^^ This.

Think of it this way. My smartphone (Droid X2) has a Super Nintendo emulator on it, and with an micro-HDMI cable, I can hook it up to my TV. Since the phone is compatible with external devices (including Wii-motes), I can use my phone as a portable SNES.

Say you have a tablet with 10x the graphics and processing power, or maybe your TV is now a tablet as well with better hardware than your PS4. As with the console, they'll sell the hardware at a...

Real profits don't make money from fans. They make money from the general consumer base. You can keep worshiping your little plastic box after it becomes obsolete, if you wish.

This is the way that many, many people in the electronics market are predicting things to go. Gaming is not some exclusive bubble which can avoid changing trends.

Continue fearing the future. It's funny to watch =\

Until 2010, Sony sold every PS3 unit at a loss. They make money on software, and it's really not about what they want or are willing to give up.

The market is moving toward digitalization and device consolidation. It doesn't matter for Sony; they'll stick to the market and probably include hardware and a digital market in a line of TVs somewhere in the future. Xbox and Nintendo will have to figure out their own strategy, but none of them will want to get left behi...

Only if you do it on a naked run. If you've at least got the solar gun, getting the Big Boss Emblem is pretty easy.

5145d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

The "final" boss fight is just for story purposes. It's not intended to be a *real* fight by any means, so there's no reason to be disappointed by it.

I suppose they could have relegated the action to a cutscene, but that doesn't seem like something the devs would do.

This'd be one of those times when I'd say a retcon wouldn't be the worst idea. Elseweyr... urgh. I'm fine with attempts at cleverness, as long as it's subtle =\

I imagine the best way to avoid EA's spyware platform is to get a legit purchase and use cracks to strip out the unnecessary Origin-related crap.

I just don't want to support EA. Their business practices are two parts incompetence, one part reprehensible money-mongering.

Getting Big Boss emblem isn't even that difficult if you don't use a fresh save. Starting on a naked run? Yeah, that's a different story.

I have to agree though. Stealth and careful approach doesn't have near the emphasis it did in previous titles. Yeah, you still *can* do those things, but it's more of a secondary choice to killing/tranqing everyone and waltzing through. Doesn't make it bad, but it doesn't make it very challenging.

My guess is it'll be sort of a semi-linear sprawl. Think classic FPS where there was a particular destination, but you could explore around and find different things, such as the health pack you desperately need to tackle the next section =o

That's kind of what I was thinking. His online existence and persona seem to genuine to be the type of cold and calculating PR monster.

Now, it's possible that the friendly, relaxed, portrayal is in itself a carefully calculated PR presence, but I'd be very surprised to find out such a thing.

A minor villain introduced halfway through the game exists for one chapter in order to create the set pieces of a ship graveyard followed by a sinking ocean liner. Sure, there are other instances of the set-pieces not being quite married to the plot, but this one, to me, is the most glaring.

The pirate people served no purpose whatsoever. The plot remained in the exact same position before and after they took him to their ship, excepting Sully's kidnapping (which could ha...

I just wished Marlow could've gotten more development. I mean, they could've cut out the whole shipyard sequence with only minor changes to the script, and then they could've fleshed out the actual villain more.

I mean, there wasn't anything wrong with the pirate guys or the sequence, but it really felt misplaced and not at all important to the story. I don't necessarily have a problem with their design philosophy (to come up with big sequences and set pie...

You can prove it by facts? I don't even know what to say to that. As if empirical evidence for something so completely subjective could ever exist is just plain... ugh...

Whatever. I don't particularly care about what you believe. I'm not going to posture or lie on the internet for kicks, so take what I say in whatever fashion you like. Yes, I own a PS3. No, I don't own a 360. I've played tiny bits of Gears of War, but the poor dialogue and storytelling h...
