True enough; there is Naughty Dog's perspective in this. However, this assumes Naughty Dog would be in any fashion pushing for North to play the role. Even if they were, the specific decision of casting is not their decision.
Heck, they might even consider the same objections; North has little public identity, he might not be able to physically act his way out of a paper bag, his appearance doesn't quite suit the role, etc. Jeff Bridges holds infinitely more clout tha...
Sad or not, it's actually not enough for the film developers to make what would be a big budget picture like this only to cater toward a small subset.
If the director could snag his choice between North and Fillion, he'd probably take Fillion in a heartbeat, even if he's a bit older than the role might require. Why? Bigger name recognition by far. Heck, even someone like Joe Flanigan has been physically *seen* more often.
Though who knows? Strange...
So... what you're now admitting is that your reading skills are so poor that you make a mistake and have to start over often?
Clever insult.
Oh, and congratulations on being #1 in Dead Rising. I'm sure the crowds will gather soon to worship you.
Any minute now...
@donny
Yep, and I'm sure all those postured video game skills you have really accentuate the length of your... intellect. I'm sure everyone wishes they could be as cool and good at video games as you.
Poor design is poor design. The UC2 final boss isn't difficult; it's dull, repetitive, and just long enough for a small mistake or two to require starting the fight over.
Boss fights should be interesting, compelling, and should ...
Especially when you consider how many games see sales boosts and revitalization far after their original release.
One of the things Gabe Newell mentioned in interview a couple years back was the first 1/2 off sale of L4D they had. He said the sale generated more profit than release week did.
Star Wars is kind of a mess canonically. There's been a lot of messy rearranging in the last few years to accommodate the prequel trilogy as well as that silly cartoon show.
@NathanExplosion
How can the Uncharted series *not* remind you of Indiana Jones when it and other adventure films like it were cited as big influences on development?
Uncharted is a great franchise, but good lord it's pretty darn obvious where they grabbed ideas from. Heck, Amy Hennig said they drew influence from stuff like The Goonies, National Treasure, and The DaVinci Code in addition to Indiana Jones.
I guess I just found it to be different. I definitely prefer Hamill's Joker, but I also like and respect how talented DiMaggio is in quite a bit of what he does (no, I'm not counting Gears of War).
John DiMaggio did a pretty decent Joker in Batman: Under the Red Hood.
He's got a deeper voice, but DiMaggio has crazy versatility, and I'd say he got the role pretty solid. I think I still like Hamill's better, but it proves, to me at least, other actor's can handle it.
@Zombie
The pure physicality of Ledger's Joker is a pretty amazing success. The most obvious piece of it, yeah, was him licking his lips and whatnot, but there were about a hundred more subtleties in his body movements and language which really defined the role.
This isn't a case of misplaced praise. He did an excellent job.
Then perhaps you should return to your hunting and gathering tasks, ye man of the past.
One thing I wonder is how much Rocksteady really has to do with this silly stuff. If I had to, I'd put money down on the influence coming from a bit higher.
Keep in mind that Rocksteady hasn't said anything to this effect, but kicking the golden goose for a little face saving generally isn't good business practice.
Eh, whatever. I still the developer, and I fully understand their viewpoint on used games.
I find it terribly funny how he's actually playing heavy compliment to Naughty Dog, but the simple fact that he uttered the phrase "...not due to the overwhelming power of the PS3," causes idiots to criticize him. Hell, it's actually nice to hear someone with an educated, informed opinion rather than the usual, "OMG IT LOOKS BETTER BECAUSE I HAVE 20/200000 VISION?!?!"
For the seventy billionth time: give kudos to the game and development team, not ...
Well, he did finally kill the Joker in Dark Knight Returns, but unfortunately that little chapter was declared non-canon a while back.
Nolan North is like Johnny Yong Bosch, or the late (great) Tony Jay. Doesn't really do much in terms of variation of his voice, but gets used a lot because his natural tone works well in many roles.
I have no doubt that North probably *can* do interesting things with his voice, but he's generally typecast to speak relatively normally. Or as some variety of wisecracking something or other.

Which will actually be either more interesting or more infuriating to consider. More interesting because maybe enlightened discussion can come out of it; a discourse on the pros and cons of different stylings.
But just wait until hordes of screaming children, spouting how much better their favorite game's aesthetic style is.
Y'know, screaming about a completely subjective, opinion-based thing. Yeah, my money's on infuriating.
Ugh. I couldn't agree more.
I don't want to sound like a hipster douche, but there's nothing which sours the enjoyment of something so excellent like a horde of mindless, unwashed children screaming about brilliance and flawlessness.
No no, nothing can ever beat an Uncharted game in story, graphics, gameplay, physics, pie-making, marriage counseling, and economic advice. It's perfect in every way, and by God you can't claim to be a gamer i...
I have a small tendency to agree, but it simply makes me all the more impressed when a game with a good story comes along.
Phasing was actually my favorite part of Wrath of the Lich King. Not only was it really neat to see the development and setup of more and more staging grounds nearer and nearer to Icecrown Citadel, your varied actions made it possible to see the really neat cinematic.
I mean, you could've just looked it up on YouTube, but it gave a pretty nice sense of accomplishment. Rather than feeling like 10 million other schmucks were going to do all of this stuff (and the fact that ...
Yeah...
The quality they provide has still been pretty consistently good, but when it comes to service?
They don't hold a candle to Valve and Steam. The stuff they put out remains high quality, but it's consistently more expensive, and it becomes clear that their balance has shifted somewhat away from customer satisfaction and toward profit.
The biggest example of this is the cost of purchasing their older titles. Diablo II and Lord o...
