Not talking about Naughty Dog. I have nothing but the greatest respect that company and the quality of product they produce.
They made a mistake and owned up to it; it's quite noble.
I admit my point doesn't necessarily fit directly with this particular article, but it's valid nonetheless. You can't throw a stone in this community without hitting several individuals who think <insert game> is without question the greatest piece of media ...
Damn right, swice.
I love hearing well-played violin, especially because it takes a lot of work for the player to produce good quality music.
Is there ever any kind of discernment? Seriously, if the game case for Uncharted 3 had been filled with live, angry bees instead of a game, would you have rated it, "The best life-threatening series of bee-stings I've ever experienced?" while ignoring the fact that it probably put you in the hospital?
For God's sake people. If a game has flaws, own up to them. Everybody already knows that Uncharted is a good, solid series, but it's not the gold standard ...
@antz
It's not that much of an intuitive leap. Investors and producers (yes, they're very important in the development food chain) see a game which makes a gigantic pile of money.
Like every other market in existence, if something's making money, people will copy it to try and grab a slice of the same audience. Any product, any piece of entertainment has this facet to it.
Why do you think All Points Bulletin lost about 99.7 millio...
I have to admit, I never found Ashley to be overly appealing, and no, it's not because she shares the name of Bruce Campbell's character in Evil Dead/Army of Darkness.
Yeah, it's cute that they're trying to undercut Steam by having an earlier sale at about 1/100th the size.
Please tell me, John Madden, that your name isn't any indication of your game preferences.
Although it does make your statement of profit from blind fools hilariously hypocritical.
@Pl4sm4
Aren't you one of those guys who likes to read singular quotations from developers, take them far out of context, assume some kind of idiotic favoritism, and incorrectly requote or summarize it later?
Of course, computersaysno is getting a bit heated, but everything he says is entirely correct.
Notice now, in case you didn't, that never did he really insult or diminish console gaming whatsoever in either of his posts. Rather, he debunked a little of the consistent bullshit which is leveled at PC gaming.
And notice, in spite of his angry-sounding posts, he doesn't display any elitism or jackassery at all. Any of that read into it is, you guessed it,...
You also have to consider two other things:
First off, lessened need for physical fabrication and distribution cuts out a bit of cost. Not a lot, not getting to 2 to 3 times more profitable, but it saves a bit of cost.
The second is wise branding, pricing, and marketing. With careful management of all three, digital distribution maintains reasonable long-term or even higher volume sales. Especially when considering re-releases of old backlog titles, plenty of...
Hey, at least they put the spoiler warning in there instead of just, y'know, spoiling things in the title or opening paragraph.
If memory serves, many releases see long delays before arriving in Australia. They get one a day early? I'd say they've earned it.
Apples to oranges, and a lot of the previous commentary talks about how good design makes a challenge fun.
Demon's Souls (and Dark Souls) feature challenging gameplay which is well-designed. It's a learning process by which players are conditioned to succeed by learning from mistakes, learning how to fight each enemy, and so on.
Think about it. In either Halo or Demon's/Dark souls, it's possible to beat a difficult section by carefully picking...
Ahhhh, I wish I could agree 50 more times.
You mean like every Nintendo franchise?
Sorry, maybe a little harsh.
Eh, most of the characters you mentioned are in more and consistently better games.
DMC has had a pretty spotty history; only DMC 1 and 3 were really all that great. 2 was meh and 4 was decent, but it doesn't exactly give Dante some kind of legendary status.
Terribly surprising that Blizzard would choose an option which would grant them the highest potential cashflow while eliminating the concept of interesting lore.

Mythology has plenty of background for a human-cow hybrids.
Not a whole lot on the Panda front. Regardless, people complain because it's a silly gimmick which was promised to never occur many years ago.
Seriously, was this the best Blizzard could come up with for an expansion? Are they that terrified of new ideas that they have to dredge up April Fool's jokes for material? Ah, maybe the next expansion will cross over into their other lore (Diablo 2) b...
Naturally, it's entirely impossible for an individual to enjoy both games. Take note that immortal made no implication of massive similarity between the two.
No, it's obvious the two games are different. However, they do share more common than, say, Battlefield 3 and Dark Souls.
The lack of fresh, unique experiences is kind of why I shy away from the Wii, but to each his own.
