Crazy enough to spend $150 for 10 mins gameplay?
At least Eyetoy was cheap...

Hehe.... I liked Fisher King too...

There are at least 4 Amazon entries for Move (various bundles etc) while there is just one entry for Kinect....
Just sayin....

"Its simples
Kinect is new Eyetoy.
Move is just Wiimote ++"
Just fixed the typo there - I knew what you meant though.
I'll tell ya - Sony are on to a massive winner if they've produced a WiiHD before Ninty.
r.
Yeah got to agree with this.
It's not a case of released or not - it's a case of reality being so far from the promise that no one is fooled.
Sony caught a lot of crap when the PS3 was released and much of that was deserved.
MS here are getting the same and it is deserved. The problem for MS is they have Kinect and nothing else.
Sony have put out Move which looks decent, but they still have a bucket load of system shi...
While the need to talk across games is a bit pointless imo, what I was hoping it would do was allow multiple people to have private chat.
At the moment, if you're playing most games with friends, your conversations can be heard by everyone - implicit in x-game chat is the ability to have separate private conversations between people in different games and hopefully then, in the same game.
In the great scheme of things this would be linked to a proper part...
Well I guess they've just realised it's not ready for release.
I don't know exactly what the problem is, but evidently Sony had it close enough to functioning to be on the verge of releasing it and then decided against it.
I suppose there are various possible technical issues
1) Maybe existing games need to be patched to use it - Sony's track record in forcing devs to provide features isn't great
2) Maybe ...
That's what Ninty need to hear!
I imagine this is Konami/Kojima playing hard to get in the hopes of some cash or other incentive from Ninty.
Since 3DS looks like it's going to sell well (subject to price point and proper specs of course), there'll be some kind of MGS presence on it. This kind of statement is to dangle the carrot in front of Ninty of a true system selling title.
Still, personally I'd rather Kojima spent the tim...
MS doesn't make hardcore games - it barely makes any games now.
What MS does best is pays for timed exclusives and even that seems to be a struggle since they're limited to DLC map packs for multipat games.
What MS needs to do URGENTLY is find some decent studios and buy them.
The problem for MS is that they don't have the money to do that now, and Kinect is draining what funds they do have.
r.
Last year the Vitality sensor was for Ninty a scaled down version of what happened to MS this year.
Just a whole bunch of people scratching their heads and wondering what possessed Ninty to show such a stupid thing at E3....
I guess they did the sensible thing and just left the idea on the back burner. I think MS have gone to far to do the same...

Oh dear :/
If true, then this is very bad news for Kinect.... I think the investment and hype they've pinned on it is great enough, that it could sink the Xbox division altogether if it bombs badly.
While that might seem good to SOME people reading this, that is in fact a very bad outcome for the industry as a whole.
I wonder if MS are guilty of getting a little of bit of that Sony arrogance circa 2005/6? Seems like they've forgotten ...
Not much more than "Wii HD" huh? Is that supposed to be a negative thing?
I think Sony would be absolutely ecstatic if this turns out to be as successful as a Wii with HD features. Sales would sky rocket.

This article could imply x-game chat is not coming at all.... at least not in 3.4 this month.
r.
While x-game chat seems a bit pointless these days given the options for communication available, it does seem that Sony have a problem with just delivering it.
I guess this could be read 2 ways - x-game chat is coming, it's not part of PS+ and so is available to everyone.
Or you could read it that it is not part of PS+, not available outside of PS+ but may come in future.
In which case, why the Sony websites claiming it was coming? Seems...
3DS looks very nice - PSP (and MGS PW) is here right now :)
I'm playing it and looking forward to 3DS.
Why does there have to be a comparison and a fight?
No reason - unless you're not a gamer of course.
r.
PS+ is the thin end of the wedge.
By putting this in place now, they can/will add new features going forward - I imagine a lot of those things are stuff we'd expect "for free" right now.
For example, what if future games come with MP limitations - e.g. SOCOM 4 can be played online but has no voice chat..... unless you're PS+ subscriber.
Or certain trophies or game features are only for PS+ subscribers.... see how this works?...
I imagine PS3 will be "best console version" because of additional content (seems to be the way it goes this gen), donloadable updates through Steam, possibility of mods (what makes Steam/Valve games on PC) and maybe better graphics/performance.
In fact it's that final point that will really determine if Valve are serious about the PS3 - if they invest the time to make a good engine then I think we'll see continuing support and probably ports of the back cat...
Good luck with that - this looks awful using Kinect, but I can understand why you'd want to try and talk it up.
I notice :
a) He hits the barrier at the start and cannot get round a corner
b) He hits a lot of the cars, even on the straights
c) The lag introduced by Kinect is so bad he can barely steer straight
d) This demo last about 5 mins - try holding your arms up for 20 mins, an hour etc
Other than that, same o...
3DS looks interesting but this is a handheld that can only be assessed by seeing it in action. At the moment there's too much novelty factor - until some appear in a local store I'm not going to commit.
Basically, Ninty's conference was all about the 3DS and for filler they threw in some Wii stuff.... Zelda, but not 'til next year and the controls looked wonky. Metroid - looks good, but yet to see if the gameplay is really different to the others and.... um we...
One small difference Montrealien - Ninty had/have a strong set of first party studios all interested in making the Wii a success.
MS have Lionhead (Fable 3 doesn't support Kinect) and... oh Rare who stopped being interesting about 6 years ago.
You see the difference? I guess not, nvm.
