The first Xbox was also prone to failures - DVD went pretty quickly on mine (PS2 had similar problems, although my launch concosle never failed and is still working now).

The problem is, this is News 4 GAMERS.... With each passing Kinect article it becomes clearer and clearer that it is not a device for Gamers who frequent this site...
So the problem is that a bunch of irrelevant news (in this case, buying stuffed animals) keeps getting posted which Gamers aren't interested in - hence the negativity.
Now, if you said you could scan your own faeces and throw it at people on XBL I'm sure plenty of people would be interes...
This article is only about bringing Dreamcast games to PSN/XBL, not a new console. Good for us - I hope that the HD updates are more than jsut resolution changes and lead to better textures and the possibility of extra content and multiplayer. I'd still like to play F355 Challenge!
To think about the console rumor for a moment - firstly I think Sega are nowhere near strong enough at the moment to really push their way into the current market, particularly during a recessi...
Well it would be obvious in the normal run of things but we've had two major motion control solutions demo'd recently and Kinect it turns out doesn't do many of the "obvious" things you'd expect - it seems it can't be demo'd live on stage, it has lag and can't be used sitting down....
Given that list of "obvious" things Kinect should be able to do, I'm wary of all the "obvious" things that PS Move should do but doe...
Why not have options?
Would you prefer it if MS said no controls other than specific games with Kinect? ....Ok, well they basically have said that, so bad example.
But even so, the browsing on Wii was pretty nice and smooth and more intuitive to non DualShock users so I can see why the option is nice.

Maybe the prices listed at some major retailers is a tester. MS release a suggested price now, retailers put it up and see the response.
If it's good, they'll go with it, if the response is bad, maybe they drop it.
I'd be surprised if the $150 changes significantly now, but MS may make that price be the "ultimate" bundle with a game and some other stuff, and later announce the econ pack for a lower price with only a demo disc or somethin...
Head tracking isn't related to 3D...
Still it's a nice novelty to have "for nothing" as such.
However, I've been using a TrackIR for about 6 years in various forms and it works great in Flight Sims. ARMA1/2 is the only FPS it's any good with.
For driving games I've tried LFS, iRacing and many others - really, head tracking isn't great for those. The problem is that in order to have consistent lap times, you n...
Nothing to do with launch - it's because you can't use Kinect while sitting....
Games like Fable require hours of invested time - no one will stand up for that long lol.
Big blow to MS claims for new controller paradigm though. This is the only big name 1st Party game they've got, and it won't support their "revolution in gaming"....

Personally I won't be pre-ordering : From Kotaku here http://kotaku.com/5565777/x...
"UPDATE: A Microsoft spokesperson told me after the publication of this article that the company is certain that Kinect gesture control will work for movies, ESPN and other "entertainment" features before the sensor is launched. As I originally reported, that is not...
Horrible carpet!!!!! Jesus man, get some decent furniture you scrub lolz...

Piracy is getting to be ridiculously bad on their console....
How come every game seems to get a pirate release before legit users get their copies? And now demos too? What next, firmware? Pirate version of Kinect (complete with build your own blueprints)?.
In fact, thinking about it, MS needed that Valve/Steam announcement more than Sony - despite it's shakey launch, Valve have managed to create in Steam a piracy combating platform even on PC. A download...
Activision don't want to risk their money to make Sony/MS stuff successful - that's no surprise.
However, from a technical viewpoint, this affects MS worse because as we've seen PS Move is easier to integrate into existing games while Kinect games have to built ground up for the device.
Still, I'm sure Sony and/or MS will kick them cash to bring something out - Move support in CoD and probably a fitness thing for Kinect.

3 friends who all need x-game chat?
Don't they like each other enough to play the same game.... hehe

Yeah I think Wii already has popped the motion gaming novelty bubble.
I don't think this will sell massive but I think a few Wii owners may convert. I have relatives who have a Wii right now but don't use it much - I can them see them getting a PS3 just for BluRay and Wii gaming with better graphics....
When you trade in a Wii the cost of the Move stuff is basically 0 - you're just paying for a better console which may tempt some who are into movi...
Be nice if they can pull it off.
Many of the impressions I've read say that the 3D implementation brings with it a significant decrease in resolution....
Be interesting to see if Sony in Firmware, and Game devs in software can maintain the resolutions high enough to make 3d enjoyable.

I think, at least as far as Madden goes, you are way uninformed about casual gaming - Madden offers competition gaming on level similar to FPSs and Fighters.
Still, these are expensive - and since you can't sit down due to Kinect's "limitations", you'll also need a new pair of shoes and some carpet every month.
Actually, you won't need shoes and carpet come to think of it - since Kinect will only get played with for 10 mins....
Amateur, 19 yr olds have already been doing the job by the sounds of things lol.

I was hoping they might launch in Japan sooner than November so I could import it :)
They must have thought they were close to release when they set a date for March/April eaerlier this year....
r.
And the problem for MS here, is that they have to win existing users over from things like DDR & Singstar (with it's Dance add on).
You must see how much more difficult it is to get someone to convert from an existing brand they already have and are familiar with to a new one. Particularly when it is an expensive proposition.

That's been Molyneux's style since Populous was a hit - he talks up the revolutionary aspects of every game he's involved with, only to have the game be distinctly less than revolutionary.
Despite Molyneux's "over zealous marketing" let's say, I still think it's good to have a few industry guys who aim high - I'm assuming of course, that Molyneux is only guilty of aiming high rather than deliberate misinformation as some people think of h...
