Nice review - in fact these guys felt that The Fight performed well which was the game I hoped would be good (after the disappointments of Wii Boxing and even Punch Out).
Particularly like the constant calibration of the device - seems like they were unable to confuse the PS3/Move under "normal" usage conditions.
r.
Looks that way.
MS already screwed up by closing some good studios - now they begin to wonder if they didn't pass up a huge market....
Heads should roll at MS - their gaming division is unable to make a good decision right now.
If/when Kinect fails I think they'll either panic and make a load of cuts, or jump on the PC bandwagon and push everything that way to try and get some money back.
News later in the summer too....
@qface
I didn't comment on the release date of Wii - I just think in this case they'll go with a Japan first release for the 3DS....
In terms of Wii, you must have a short memory... on the launch of the Wii it was impossible to get one and doubly impossible to get a Wiimote or Nunchuk - shortages continued for over a year and prices on ebay rocketed as a result.
r.
Good point - Ninty don't have a great record in stopping piracy.
I thought this time they'd go with a standard memory expansion slot and just go with a download service for games like the iPod or PSPGo.
That cuts down on piracy right away through the online verification and also means you portable is properly portable without carrying loads of easily lost carts....
r.
MS copied it but their sofas are prone to the Brown Ring of Death....
And MS closed all their cushion manufacturers....
r.
This year? This is Nonetendo remember - if it gets any kind of launch this year it'll be in Japan only and sold out long before we get to click Buy.
I'd say March is optimistic given past history with pretty much everything Ninty has put out since the Wii.
r.
They did "work around it" for XI - but that was way back when the 360 was new and MS were still hoping to establish themselves.
Since then MS have become more bullish and arrogant about their position in the console game industry - note even Gabe Newell & Valve supporting PS3 due to MS's lack of flexibility now. Previously there have been issues between Epic and EA in terms of MS's control over Live.
I don't see that changing now - e...
This won't come to 360 because of the subscription issue with MS.
Unless MS do a big u-turn that is... then again, given how SE games have sold on the 360 I don't see much incentive for MS to change their policy.
r.
Well - remember all those warnings about not turning off your console while it's saving? That's to avoid corrupting the save altogether or potentially bricking the console...
So in this instance, I'd rather the thing kept running for more time rather than corrupt the save/system data. So the question is how "clever" this feature is...
Don't affect me though, I'm not in the market for a 360 of any type.
r.
Doesn't matter since the rumble is not required (which is what the dual shock has) - the six axis is fine as an alternative controller.
r.
Wow those are some big things to just "drop" into an interview in a blog post.
Track creation confirmed now? I thought that was dropped. But also Karting and stunt tracks? Where'd all this stuff come from?
On the track editor point though - I imagine this is simply specifying new routes around the existing locations - as opposed to some kind of Modnation style track creator....
r.
Well no wonder MS are keeping the pricing under wraps. They have yet another Kinect problem...
As is well known, Sony and MS sell their consoles at a loss against manufacturing in order to recoup on software and accessory sales.
If MS are going to sell it at a loss, then they need to confident it will shift games after people buy it - given that the tech is essentially broken for anything but Eyetoy style minigaming, I guess people won't buy games.
You DO NOT get a nunchuk bundled with a Wiimote (you do get a Wiimote and a Nunchuk in the box with a Wii though).
A Wii Motion Plus is the closest thing to PS Move and that is retailing for close to $50 and requires a Nunchuk to be purchased separately if you plan on playing Nunchuk based games.
So the Move and Wii Motion Plus bundle are the same price (Of course for Move you need the camera too).
r.
I only said the subcontroller was not REQUIRED - and it isn't.
Watch this from about 3.25 to see it being demo'd last year:
http://www.youtube.com/watc...
Personally I'll just buy a sub controller, but I have the money, not everyone does.
Oh, and ease up on the aggression there dude - we didn't design the thing.
r.
No games will require the subcontroller since a DS3 can be used in it's place.
By definition then, PS Move games require a PS Eye and a PS Move controller. No problem at all...
The Wii has lots of controller options and no one seems to have a problem there...
r.
"really? I think Nintendo would disagree"
No kidding - you should be a detective with that kind of insight.
On the topic, really the 3DS isn't really naked eye 3D is it - the way it works isn't competing with "proper" 3D devices but at the moment, no 3D devices are really compelling be it Cinema, TV or handheld.
However, Ninty have created a nice hype groundswell with this (contrast to Kinect for example, with a negat...
Yeah this is bull.... Brooker didn't "Slam" Kinect at all - he made a few somewhat negative comments - he was in fact quite restrained since everyone else is slamming Kinect.
I'm beginning to think N4G is killing gaming journalism - the site really needs to look at making the approval process more difficult for blogs and other "amateur" sites.
r.
3rd Time lucky I guess?
Maybe they can finally deliver on what Molyneux said would be in Fable 1...
r.
How long was the queue for the Kinect demo?
r.
More RAM O_o
Still, I guess Gabe Newell and Valve are _confirmed_ for PS3 since their talents aren't restricted by Live....
