I do have a Wii and while SMG1 was great and I'm sure this is also great a perfect 10 across the board from IGN gives us a valuable insight into their reviewing system.

Let's take 1 point - Graphics = 10. Now the Wii is basically last gen hardware so by definition, it cannot compete graphically with current gen consoles.

However, IGN have given SMG2 a 10. This means that IGN must review games in the context of their platform. SMG2 is not competing wit...

Yep AW is a necessary purchase - gotta try and get some exclusive love back on the 360....

Personally though it's not my kind of game and with RDR arriving I can't see it getting played so I guess I'll trade it in.

Your TV has to support the mode otherwise it will appear "too black".

Yes but Sub-HD wasn't the only problem for AW and SCC - they also turned out to be games which didn't meet their gameplay hype.

Sub HD was just one factor.

Having said that, it isn't acceptable for the PS3 to be sub-HD when the 360 isn't. That's the way things were 2 years ago not now, so R* have dropped in my estimations for that.

Given the rocky development history of RDR, I guess they just wanted it out the door rather ...

Extra content wins in this case I think but even so, Sub-HD on PS3 isn't really acceptable anymore.

The trade off is that the GTA4 engine is ready now, so it's either get the game now and accept that engine's limitations, or wait for R* to produce a PS3 optimised engine.... Personally I'll take RDR now and see what they've managed to do with Agent.

Maybe Red Dead Revenge, or whatever will take more advantage of PS3's strong points.

You haven't seen the PS3 gameplay videos linked on the front page? The PS3 version reviews with sreenies?

You haven't seen those, but you managed to fumble your way to this article and post?

Wow.

Out of the top 10, 8 are exclusives to their respective platforms and the 2 3rd party games are PS3 versions of multi-plats.

The first 360 "exclusive" is ME2 at 15 (but that's not really 360 exclusive as we know).

The first 100% 360 exclusive is Forza all the way down at 27....

So, has MS done the right thing to kill it's exclusive studios since exclusives don't sell on 360? Or is it that MS has no exclusives to sell so ...

and probably 5/10 is about right given that most people who play it will just dump it after 5 minutes.

It took me a day of playing to really understand what the game is.

At first, it seems like it's trying to be Grand Theft Samurai and failing so badly it's almost embarassing. It's environments are small, the graphics are terrible (bear in mind this is a 2008 game), the various interactions are clunky and the combat is unforgiving and seemingly simplistic. Not a good...

"Can't wait for E3. I'm interested in seeing more games for both Natal and Move."

Or to correct that statement for accuracy :

"I'm interested in seeing *any* games for Natal and more games for Move".

Just to clear that point up...

Never before done *since eyetoy* in gaming.

Have fun with WishyWashy though - it'll get the party started! (but it won't still be interesting at the end...)

They just aren't creative enough.

I haven't played it, but PES on the Wii looks good so there is an example of useful controls added by a pointer system like Move.

What we don't want is loads of minigames - you don't have to map every real world movement onto the controller.

In real football, people use their hands to indicate positions to run to for through passes - that's effectively what the PES Wii system allowed so something similar would be good. ...

Well ya know - after a while the whining gets old even for the whiners.

Where's the hate for Alan Wake after the length of its development? What about Duke Nukem? etc etc etc

That's software.

If GT5 isn't great on release, then we'll see hate. Until then, people gots better things to do.... Well, people who've got GoW3 and Yak3 to play.

Then with Redemption coming, and a few other things GT5 doesn't seem that far off after all...

I imagine Codies will claim the usual range for this - Casual to Simmer are all supported via gameplay tweaks.

The reality is usually that the simmer gets screwed, and arcade players move on when they get bored and/or frustrated.

Still, not much in the way of F1 simming around right now - only this and rFactor (or the iRacing Williams at some point) to speak of. iRacing will be the best sim but only of the Williams and it's not here yet.

rFactor + F1 mod...

Indeed - imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

If you hadn't noticed, technology is largely evolutionary in nature so it's no surprise a company uses the prior work of others as a basis to improve on - this has been the very basis on which Sony and MS have operated in the video game sector (in fact MS have operated this way in all sectors - they rarely truly innovate and instead refine).

However, I'm not sure about the Natal link - that owes more to Eyetoy tha...

2nd place? Well if we're throwing in PC comparisons, then the 360 is is further down than 2nd place....

Ok, so I guess you could compare 360 sales to PC, given the timeframe since 360 release, but then it's still further down than 2nd place since the PS3 has outsold it when measured against the same standard.

Either way, MS is doing with the 360, what Apple did with the Mac in the mid 90s. Apple nearly died due to their insistence on non-standard hardware and draconi...

I hope Codies pull off something cool with this since environmental conditions are a major factor - I hope there's a real world weather option either based off realtime or actual historic race conditions... Historic race weather would be nice to see if you could achieve different results with the same conditions...

However this comment is a bit light on detail - it mentions dynamic weather effects but doesn't confirm whether a race can be subject to showers or rain stopping and s...

Rare these days isn't like Rare of old... I imagine they're working on Natal stuff and that's perhaps just as well - I don't think they could do justice to their back catalog anymore.

Personally I'd rather Sony not bother wasting their time & money. While there might be a lot of Arabic-only readers, a tiny proportion of them play Western/Japanese games and even fewer need their game console in Arabic.

I'd rather Sony put the translation effort towards more English-Japanese game translations than this.

Codemasters should try and produce decent driving sims again before knocking other stuff.

Still Natal is clearly gimped for any type of game requiring you to hold your hands and feet in fixed positions or receive any feedback from the "controller".

Luckily only a few games use a controller and offer feedback.... um... well... for example Eyetoy games didn't need a controller or provide feedback... and ...

The problem for Ninty is this - they don't like to make losses on their consoles (who would?).

On the other hand, MS and Sony have business models that sell the console at a loss in order to recoup the costs and gain profit through software, addons and subscriptions.

Since that path isn't one Ninty take, the cost of a HD console, even now, is probably more than their target user base can stand.

So how can they compete? Either they try and compete in the ...
