the Pre-load is live now? two months before the game is available? I've not seen that before. Might mean review codes are now available as that'll mean the game has gone gold and the final version is complete for the unit.
@Zeegamereh - what are you on about? did I say Minecraft on mobile and switch will be more active users than the console? I don't think I did...
Basically, the 'live active users' number that MS declares includes all users which have logged into Xbox Live that month/quarter - INCLUDING Windows 10 Store gamers, Minecraft on Mobile and Switch, Xbox 360 and Xbox One gamers. So, the '60m active users' isn't that much of a great number to try and be happy...
Sony does have the money to burn if they think it's a profitable venture for them to follow through. However, I'm pretty sure their customers would rather the extra revenue went into the gaming side than what colour their controller is :)
They bought studios, along with their IPs, as they have games out very soon or already deep into development, most of which are still being funded by other publishers - so buying the companies is more an investment than a financial issue at the moment. Looking back over the last few years, it's clear they have spent more money on controllers, the X, paying for the rights to put games on GamePass and even paying for streamers on Mixer (Via MS Gaming division), than the dev and production o...
Why... costs. Setting up a production process where you can design and have customised controllers isn't cheap. Sure, we've seen Xbox do it, but they seem to be putting more money into that side of the business rather than into the actual game development side. Customer controllers are nice to look at but does anyone really care what colour the controller is whilst playing games?
Probably also so that MS doesn't try and swoop in and offer a stupid amount, like they did with Minecraft, in hopes of pulling the studio and it's owned IPs away from other platforms going forward.
When one studio is actively out acquiring studios and talent, it would be stupid for Sony to sit there and do nothing.
No, I imagine the streamer got about 100m if Mixer were going to base it on what they 'predict' he would have made on Twitch based on his last year's earnings (before he lost a tonne of paying subs)
Regarding my comment about the 19m being used on this, I meant the games this quarter as people were saying MS had paid for an exclusive or the marketing rights to a game only coming to Xbox and Pc - but it clearly wasn't. It was the down payment so games like th...
shame, I really enjoyed these games (the F2P game was terrible). But I don't see this tempting me to get an early Stadia kit.
GamePass is nothing like Stadia so I'm not sure what the comparison was supposed to be?
That'll be the 19m dollars Capcom received for 'Digital services' - quite a lot for allowing DMC V on gamepass, especially as the game's sales will have started to go down.
"indie horror games" - what about AAA big-budget ones? Do you also think they're bad or are they better in your eyes?
"is it destined to be a worse games of the year contender alongside Layers Of Fear 2?" - Strongly disagree with that statement. LoF 2 was a really good game, the story and narrative were a bit iffy but the actual mechanics and creepy-factor were spot on. At least the story for The Blair witch is about as simple as you can get, so there isn't much to think about whilst focusing on the visuals and spooks.
If it's locked at 1080p and it's only 'up to 60fps', that means there's going to be dips. I imagine a lot of people wouldn't like it if their X was dropping to resolutions like 900p or lower.
Not trying to downplay anything, just looking at it realistically - why do you think they've stopped reporting on things such as 'paying' live subscribers and now only state 'active users' - which are both free and paid accounts...
The 50m you think Xbox has sold is being very generous, it's most likely less than 45 as they've been selling less than 100k a week, even less than 50k in some weeks as well. Also, I doubt there are 30-40m Xbox One liv...
@everyone who thinks MS made the PS4 version of Minecraft...
Do we have to start dealing with the facts just because you're all delusional and think MS created everything?

Everyone jumps on these and claims the Xbox is better than the PS4 in it's offering. I personally would state that the PC version is by far much better than both. If you pay for the 15 a month version, you get games like Plagues Tale and other big recent releases. The lower-cost one, same as consoles, also has a bunch of non-EA games included which are very different and quite big.
As the other guy said, it's more like 40-45m. Also, it's not 60m monthly Xbox One users, it's around 60m Live accounts being used - that includes Minecraft on PC and Switch, the Win 10 store games, the Xbox 360 and Xbox One. That's quite low when you look at it that way. It's a shame, MS were doing okay last gen.
If anything it would be XCloud, not GamePass - people always get those confused for some reason. Sony wouldn't allow a MS service which contains a bunch of games people can buy full price on PSN or 'rent' from MS for the same game. I don't think XCloud will come to any PS either, but it's more that over GP.
TBH, Rare isn't Rare anymore. Pretty much everyone in the studio has moved on - all it is is a studio with a name and the IPs. Giving the team who work their creative freedom will probably result in a SoT-like game as that's all they've done for many years.
They'll get a small percentage of the small number of sales the games get as the publisher is still MS Studios, so they'll get the most of the profit. I'd imagine the game will soon vanish from GamePass though - once MS bought Compulsion Games, A few of their games were quickly pulled from PSNow
