Wasn't this the game that was supposed to be "better looking" than Motorstorm according to some previews?

I've always had some respect for the Halo franchise. I loved the first two games and only a passing interest in the third, but MS needs to move on and create something else instead of milking this series dry.

I know I'm in the minority, and I know that the "if it sells create more" mentality dominates the gaming industry, but pushing more Halo is only going to degrade the series in the long run.

But hey, EA keeps tricking people into buying the same Madden...

Yeah, I didn't include Fable II or Left 4 Dead because I don't see those as being as mass market as COD 5 (mostly due to the hype of COD 4 and people picking it up because of that) and Fallout (which seems to be getting a lot of air time in broader market--G4tv, Gametrailers, etc). I could be wrong though.

Besides, I don't even think those games will matter once Gears 2 releases. I predict 1/3 of American 360 owners will pick it up and will cause sales to be low for those other ...

It makes sense really. MS has one BIG game coming with Gears 2--although I think people will be all over the new Call of Duty when it drops and let's not forget Fallout 3.

By hyping the DLC for GTA, which is arguably MS's other "big hit" this year despite its multiplatform status, MS has another ace in its hole for the holidays.

Otherwise, the 360 lineup looks rather anemic.

Sounds like they did a lot in improving the overall experience. I may pick it up at some point down the road.

Now, I wonder if the reviewers will take a fresh look at what was fixed. Or will the broken 360 version jade what has been done?

Also IF the patch comes out for the 360, will the game get a second chance.

Ive always like the Alone in the Dark series, so here's hoping for a fresh start.

I have yet to be disappointed by a Level 5 jrpg so I have great confidence in this title. More importantly, this will be a great Christmas present. Japanese import yay!

For everyone else, I wonder if they could just add subtitles? Or is too late in development to do that?

Typically, people seem to like the Japanese voices over the English ones so I don't think people would mind and would import if they could somehow pull it off before the release.

While I don't think that is what MS is doing, it does make sense with how MS has handled some of its studios in the past few months, such as Bungie and Ensemble. I'm curious to see if, once Fable II is released, Lionhead is dropped too. If that happens, then I think there will be validity to this article.

On a related note, I still think that Silicon Knights is the next to be let go by MS. Yet they will maintain the second party relationship MS seems to setup with its former hol...

I don't even think the reviewer played the game. In fact, aside from the cursory mention of the use of force powers, this "review" is nothing more than a poor examination of the technology used to power the game.

As far as his "analysis:"

Jive-talking robot? Uhh...Proxy (the name of the robot) is anything BUT jive-talking. In fact, he probably has 20 min total talking/face time the ENTIRE game and it is very direct, bordering on Hk psychotic.

Can we get one of the developers to post a statement about how "We don't get" the Force Unleashed? OR that it is "too deep an experience" for our peon brains? That'll show those reviewers!!

OR

Can we get a TV Show host to post a video blog telling reviewers to lay off The Force Unleashed? And telling gamers that they are wrong for not giving the game a chance based on reviews? Please? That would be awesome!

No?

Never was going to spoil it. Unless you think that character development and adding additional layers to the story is somehow unique to this game?

Thanks to both of you for the info. But I hope that Sony (I checked and it was them who shot it down) was just playing coy and it is being released.

After the complete suckage of Tales of Vesperia (after all the build up and intriguing characters, you call THAT an ending!), I'm kind of hesitant on whether or not I should get Infinite Undiscovery. Has anyone here played it enough to give an informed opinion?

Even if I decide not to get it, it's not a total loss. I still have Valkyria Chronicles (love those srpgs) and an imported copy of White Knight Chronicles (assuming the rumors of a Dec release in Japan are true). Then its...

umm...a little lesson in reading comprehension.

LEARNING TO READ 101

"While checking out the tweaked “Alone in the Dark” in a San Francisco hotel yesterday, game designer Emile Morel couldn’t explicitly promise such a patch was coming."

This is referring to the 360 patch, in case you didn't understand.

“We’re trying to do it,” said Morel. “It’s technically complicated. The size of a patch is very limited by Microsoft. So if we do a...

I know I may be in the minority, but I believe the PS4 should release later than the next Xbox console, if only by a few months. And here's why:

1. Pay close attention to MS during their development cycle and see what the final memory specs are, including GPU capability, for the next xbox. This is relatively easy to do because of patent laws, and double it.

From a cost standpoint, it would make sense to put resources into these two areas particularly since the overal...

8-12 hours isn't bad. In fact, outside of rpgs, its pretty good for a SP experience.
But the truth is, most games are getting shorter play times, even jrpgs. For example, I just beat Tales of Vesperia in 25 hours with:

Party level of 62
All Giganto monsters beaten
All Fell Arms gathered and sorcerer's ring lvl 5.
Aurinion built
Some time spent at the "Games" Isle.

yeah, the fact that the 360 outsold the PS3 TWICE in 2008 is cause for concern.

I mean in 8 months, those 2xs the 360 outsold the PS3, by about 10,000 units both times AND in its home territory, really pwns PS fanbois.

Exactly. While both sides here will argue their console's pen!s size through NPD, myself and many other multi-console owners will be enjoying the myriad of great exclusives coming down the pipe for both consoles.

So while 360 fanbois preen over the NPD for September (which include the price cut), I will be enjoying LPB and Fable II. Not to mention the many multiplat titles coming out. The only tough decision there will be to buy for PS3 or 360.

@talvish

Only to a certain extent. It only covers what is sold directly from Amazon. This includes direct downloads of PC games and games sold directly from the company itself. Legally, Amazon cannot count sales from third party retailers, nor can NPD count those.

It's really not a cut and dry situation with Amazon. Yes it is counted, but only parts.
