I'm sure Ensemble was thinking the same thing.

What's worse is that MS knows they can get away with sub-par hardware. All they have to do is extend the warranties and gradually release newer models over time (rightfully guessing that people will buy the "improved" model) and that's it.

Ok..so the first 5 times it RRODed, did you send it back to MS? Or did it RROD then you bought a new console? Or was it a combination of both?

Except that these sales estimates only cover calender 2008 and not fiscal 2008--you know, the time period that ACTUALLY MATTERS to investors and to Sony in general.

Because this version is an attempt to bilk the rubes who think the Wii is anything more than an interactive toy?

It's the same with the all the fixes coming with the GTA IV DLC--specifically the mid-mission check points.

While I could care less about the actual DLC or the cosmetic touch ups-- i.e. more pedestrians, more audio clips for NPCs -- the fact that PS3 owners don't get mid-mission check points is ridiculous. If anything, that should be released as a general update for all versions.

And before someone says "quit whining blah, blah blah," I own Fallout 3 for th...

I have a 60gb PS3 connected with an HMDI. Sometimes when playing PS2 games there is no "PS2" image when the game loads. It will just go straight to the game.

The gameplay is more simplified than Smackdown versus Raw.

1. The game promotes a new combo fighting system that is grapple-based.
2. Unlike the SmackDown series, Legends of WrestleMania is focused more on arcade-style gameplay (similar to WWF WrestleFest) with only the D-pad (or left analog stick) and the four face buttons needed on the gamepad.

And Randy Orton is not in the game. If you're looking at the cover, it's--Stone Cold, The Rock, Hulk Hog...

Well, if you believe the ex-Tomb Raider devs, these levels were already in the game but removed when the deal for exclusive DLC was signed.

@jHawk

The game released Nov. 2008. So, either the ex-employee was right or, amidst all the layoffs at Eidos and Crystal Dynamics they managed to design and create two new levels.

So either you get to pay for levels that were already in the game OR you get to pay for levels that, at best, were rushed to meet their ob...

A few things:

1. I never claimed the 360 was a failure because of the RROD. Nor did I say that I agreed with the articles assumption that it was. So that comment directed at me means nothing and completely misses the point of my post--which is about INTENT versus EXECUTION as the benchmark for failure.

2. Using the premise you outlined is textbook faulty logic and reeks of the overly simplistic analogies found on the SAT.

Saying that the "PS3 Concept is 4D" is a whole different animal than what the haters have been claiming...

The PS3 "Concept" is the system itself (it's functions, it's capabilities, etc) and is what Ken claims was 4D. In that sense, Ken wasn't lying. 4D essentially means able to change and grow in real time. The PS3 is constantly changing--through firmware--in real time.

Notice how the quote is "PS3 GAMES "live" and PS3 CONCEPT.&...

The six-axis is not a failure because it was never promoted as the primary control scheme of EVERY PS3 game. It was promoted as a means to add LIMITED (key word) interaction beyond the traditional means of input.

Had Sony come out and said that the six-axis was to REPLACE (key word) traditional controls--a la the Wii-mote--THEN it would be a failure.

But adding something as an after thought that relies on game devs to utilize constitutes a poor decision on Sony's par...

I totally agree it's not something exclusive to Sony. In fact, it's something endemic to new IP's all around. And I personally loved how Dead Space approached combat and in-game menus (it added to the tension of the game because it didn't "pause" the action and because you could be attacked while in the menu).

But I don't think RE 5 will be hammered in reviews for it's lack of innovation. It's well established that big name and legacy franchises aren't held to the same ...

Let's see if it's possible.

Halo 2 -- 2.5 million in 24 hours
Halo 3 -- 3.3 million in 12 days

I can guarantee you there will be a lot of "Killzone 2 doesn't bring anything new to the genre" thrown around in reviews.

I hope I'm wrong. But going by the prevailing notion that PS3 games somehow have to go beyond convention and "define" a particular genre, I won't be surprised (and neither should anyone) that KZ 2 will be nitpicked beyond belief.

Reading the bio on Netko got me thinking about some of the previews that mention the "dumb AI" of certain squad members. Specifically the one that is constantly running at the Helghast and getting shot down. This particular bio kinda explains that issue away.

I'm a firm believer in karma and the principle of what goes around comes around...so I say this with all seriousness and take full responsibility for whatever repercussions come my way:

I hope whatever movie exec green lit this abomination looses his job and is forced to dig the ditch in the landfill where the copies of this game will end up.

If it makes you feel better to think I'm lying, either about the RROD or age of the console, then good for you.

All I can tell you is what the warranty status told me after typing in my serial number. And although there is a caveat that says "Standard warranty expired: A three-year warranty applies to Xbox 360 conditions indicated by three red lights. " It still was showing the $94 service charge.

6251d ago 2 agree0 disagreeView comment

Well, I figured it would have been covered but I did the online repair order on xbox.com and it said my warranty was expired. Since I bought it in July I was surprised so I did the whole "Dispute" warranty option. Otherwise it will cost me $94 (according to their price quote). So I'm waiting to hear how that turns out before I commit to the "coffin." Otherwise, I have a warranty from Best Buy.

TBH, I'm in no hurry to get a new 360 until I know 100% that there...

I got my second RROD last night as I was playing Infinite Undiscovery. It was an Elite I got in July 2008...it was so young and survived countless hours of Fallout 3, Saints Row 2, Gears 2 and Fable 2. It's ironic that it crashed playing a non-taxing rpg like IU.
