It's not being removed. In the Game Informer spotlight on Uncharted 2, the devs talk about making the melee combat more fluid (adding new moves and animations) and actually making it on the same level as the gun combat in terms of essential gameplay mechanics.

So, I don't know what the "debugged" comment means unless it means fixing the melee combat.

I would go ahead and buy Valkyria Chronicles. Especially if you have a lull in your gaming right now and are waiting for the next big release.

But be warned, it's a rather long and, on the hardest setting, challenging game that will suck you into its awesomeness.

I'm not saying it's not a fun game for some people. My wife and little girl weren't too fond of this game and they loved the Carnival Games mini golf, which I hated. Heck, I loved Advent Rising for the Xbox and it was universally panned across the boards.

But I did notice you said you rented it..

On why sales should not be used to define a game as "good," "great," or even as "high quality."

I give you "Exhibit A" Ladies and Gentlemen:

before the NPD for November was released, there was an article on here showing PS3 numbers for the first half of the fiscal year at 9.2 or 9.3 million (without the 300k + from November). Any help confirming that would be helpful.

Regardless, the fact their fiscal year ends in March 2009 and not December 2008 means that it is possible (and probable) that they'll meet their sales goal of 10 million.

If Capcom is even half right about JRPG's not selling outside of Japan (and I think it has merit because the numbers back them up), then SE better rethink their strategy.

It's a shame that medical and technological advancement have seriously hampered "survival of the fittest."

You do realize that the only part of the game that is MMO-like is co-op and multiplayer, right?

The single player is comparable to Rogue Galaxy.

I really hope this comes to the US soon. I've been playing the import and my wife, who doesn't stray beyond her Wii for games, is enjoying watching me play and wants to join me when she puts our little girl down at night. She doesn't speak Japanese though, so I have to narrate to her the plot and that became uncool after the first five minutes.

It's not a knock against the game. I loved the PS2 Shinobi games. In fact, when the game was first revealed I commented on several articles that it reminded me of Shinobi and that I dug what was shown.

If it's a tenth of what Shinobi was (and less like Otagi) I'll buy it.

As for the costume...don't knock the long-haired, sneakered and spectacled ninjas. If done right that would totally work.

Of course it is.

And the one before it..

And so on..

Which means it will get approved.

I hate to say it, but Sony can only do so much with their own marketing. Sure commercials work if done right--the original Gears of War commercial with "Madworld" or the Halo 3 theater trailers for example--but it has to be in conjunction with other forms of marketing:

1. gaming mags and popular gaming websites giving positive previews/reviews of the game and multi-page ads in these sources.

2. a visible presence in retail chains--giant statues a la Fallo...

It does suck for these people. I feel horrible when I see these articles.

And I hope this news doesn't spawn numerous "OH NOES!!?!1 THE 360 IS DOOOMED!!11!" articles like it did when a similar article about Sony's layoffs hit this site.

Thanks Nintendo.

I would definitely get on board with that idea. It would add a new dimension on replay-ability and reward players who've taken their time to explore the game.

But as long as people pay for the "privilege" of unlocking things that are already on the disk, I don't see this ever working.

Shinobi? Is that you?

Except there is no evidence presented. Or if there is, it's only numbers representing a...less than overall picture.

For example, these articles base their claims and conclusion on the fact Sony dropped their November numbers compared to last year. What about the rest of the year? Last I checked, November was ONE month while there are TWELVE months in a year.

These articles even state "Despite Sony's Playstation 3 quarterly sales growth doubling from last yea...

To be fair, the numbers quoted in the article are US only. The R2 numbers are worldwide. In that arena Gears 2 is sitting at or near 3 million while Fable 2 is at or a little under 2 million.

However, these totals will vary depending on the source--the article has US sales at 1.5. As does the NPD numbers. While VGChartz is showing Gears 2 has 2.45 million US sales.
