Gamestop are a bunch of liars. Pre-orders have no weight in whether a game has a midnight launch. It's whatever they BELIEVE which games will sell--based usually on name-brand. It's a totally arbitrary decision to do midnight launches and is not based on any actual sales figures.
For example, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed had a midnight launch in my area but the game only sold 1 million copies in the first week.
Hell, Quantum of Solace had one too.

Yeah. This site is overrun by PS3 fanboys. How dare they post articles every week since Nov about the PS3 being doomed or how the PS3 should just be put out of it's misery. Or accepting weekly stories from VGCHartz that show the 360 outselling the PS3 while failing to approve stories about PS3 games selling over a million copies--because they use VGCHartz numbers.
And I can't stand their complaining that certain games aren't held to the same standards as other games and their ou...
D'oh. Yeah, I meant Dead Space. I've got Dead Rising on the brain after hearing about the sequel.
Maybe. But it wouldn't be for every release. Just ones that have a movie tie in. And I would assume there would be options to buy either the game or the game/movie. I don't think Sony would force you to buy one SKU.
But in reality, people have very little problem buying $80+ games now--what with Limited Editions and DLC.
@Fishy
I think the 50gb would be large enough. The game is multiplat so it couldn't be more than 7gb. Plus the movies wouldn't take up that much space since they would just be upconverting the original films. (look at other 80s films on BD for a point of comparison)
Even with BD-live features, I can't imagine the total package would be more than 40gb.
I was actually hoping EA would have done this with Dead Rising on the PS3--putting the movie and a digital version of the comic series on the disk.
The game is actually the third part of the story. It just made sense to me to offer some sort of LE that bundled all three together (game, dvd, and mini-comic) or, as per my wish, put them all on the BD.
Oh well. I hope Sony can do this and I think, as someone else said, Ghostbusters would be a perfect fit for this treatm...
I think it's appropriate that poster 1.1 is called "The Matrix"--what with the living in a fantasy world and all.
I finally downloaded the demo. While I was majorly disappointed, I will give the full-game a shot at some point in the future when I can get it on the cheap.

But I have to call out this poorly written and absurdly reasoned mess of an article.
@JOY
If you don't understand the difference between the two scenarios, then I don't know what to say that would make sense to you.
But a point of clarification. The Epic writer wasn't saying they were "aspiring" to be the new lightsaber, he said the Lancer WAS the new lightsaber. Meaning he believes that Gears has achieved the same iconic status what took Star Wars decades to achieve.
Their goal, according to the article, is to continue to buil...
And what are those drawbacks that GI points out?
Similar enemies? Umm..yeah. You're fighting space Nazis.
Too much action? Riiight. Since when is that a bad thing?
Doesn't do a whole not new? Didn't seem to detract from their COD4 review.
FEAR 2
The Chronicles of Riddick
Aliens: Colonial Marines
Shellshock 2
Halo: ODST

Tales is pretty fun. If you're a fan of the other games, it plays EXACTLY like all the Tales games after Symphonia.
The only downfall is the story just falls apart in the end.
Except the article doesn't cover all 66 pages. If looks at specific parts of the document categorized under easy to follow headlines.
There is a PDF of the 66 pages if you are really curious.
In order for something to "upstage" something else, it usually has to be a complete surprise to both the targeted entity and the public at large--i.e. MS announcing FF XIII for the 360 would be considered an "upstage."
The fact MS and EPIC will continue to pimp out Gears of War should NOT be considered a surprise. At least not to anyone with an IQ over 70.
Shhhh..TheHater.
You know it's not a full exclusive. Heck, anybody with a pair of eyes (for looking at the "Only on Xbox 360"-less box art) and has basic logic and reading comprehension skills (for sifting through the vague responses SE gives when asked about a PS3 version) knows its not a full exclusive.
I say don't spoil it for them. It's funnier if they believe something so strongly only to be completely surprised later on.
It's actually a smart way of doing business. You test the waters by limiting the initial shipment and if it sells out, then you can always ship more to the retailers. In the meantime, you get word of mouth publicity that [x game] sold out at retailers, thus giving the impression that it is a highly desired title. It's very basic marketing strategy but it often works. Look at Nintendo's Wii strategy.
It's better than the opposite--over shipping and selling way below that first r...
I'm sorry but Mileena's ability to literally chew you up and spit you out automatically takes her out of the 'sexy' category.
It's gone gold (I think).
But, as some mentioned, this may be the E3 demo from July.
so much for the claim that the "levels are too linear" (god what a stupid complaint).
And yet another pointless article that lauds something a 360 does and claims it's a "shining example of innovation" while completely ignoring reality (and a few choice "copy cats" in the process).
Yes Gears brought the "cover system" to the masses--based largely on the number of units sold--but claiming that it's a shining example because the game was designed around such aspect is fundamentally flawed.
In Gears, the cover system is not...
