This is the third article I've seen on this.
Why is it hard to believe that PS3 owners are just excited about this collection?
I never buy LE's, but this one was too good to pass up.
yeah. I was surprised that FF VIII wasn't represented.
The first Gears. Notice the date--(Dec. 2006).
You're assuming (with good cause) that it's not free.
But console sales alone don't define the gaming industry.
Game sales per platform are also an important factor as are profits derived from those sales on developers. It all works together.
Both the informationally challenged article and Nintendo's apparent parsing of the numbers to mean "total revenue from console sales" really sheds no light on the industry as a whole.
But again the question remains, what happens IF Nintendo cannot capitalize on the ...
And Nintendo is artificially inflating the gaming industry by relying on "casual" gamers to stimulate that growth.
But Nintendo, what happens if you can't recreate the appeal of the Wii the next console generation?
What happens to the industry in the long-term?
It didn't shut up the haters. Now you'll hear things like this:
Hater: "At 1:30 secs in, Krato's right leg looks longer than the other. EPIC FAIL!! And look at how he's standing. Nobody stands like that in real-life. PS3 SUXORS!!"
Gamer: " umm..he's running."
Hater: " There are no such things as Titans! I'm not gonna buy this game because it lacks realism! Besides, HALO iS WAY BEtTER and WAY MORE REAlistic!"
Gamer: " It's a gam...
Sorry, the fact you say hack and slash games are "a dime a dozen" and then go on to list RTS and FPS as gaming genres that aren't a dime a dozen is laughable.
While the RTS you listed do involve complex thought processes, the majority of them don't. But listing any FPS to back up your point is ridiculous. Neither Half-Life or COD4 involve anything more than basic stop, look and shoot mechanics.
EDIT:
How is it embarrassing for Sony if they met or, acc...
Get both if you can. Both are great games.
But a lot of the story elements in GOW 2 derive from the first one. So I suggest you get GOW 1 or you will miss a lot of the story.
"It's actual GamePlay just CGI??!! Wait....when have I heard this before from Sony?? "
And how did that ultimately work out?
Quoted from an IGN interview. For link, see a few posts post.
"Everything within the trailer itself was "100% real," according to Asmussen. While the action within the trailer was scripted to tell the story that he wanted to tell for the trailer, "everything that you see in here is using actual in-game engine, resolution, effects. Let me assure you, we can draw Kratos in these levels and we can do all this stuff that's happening in here right now."
There are many things in the video that lead me to believe that it's in-game assets or even in-engine cutscenes. The models look like they could be used during gameplay--i.e. they don't have that overly fake look that CGI cutscenes have.
But some of that stuff looked like a mix of gameplay (albeit with the HUD cropped off) and QTE (with the prompts cropped).
If the final product is even half of what this trailer shows, then...
That's great MS. Now where are those pre-order numbers?
Demo DL =/= sales.
I mean, you touted Halo 3 and Gears 2 awesome pre-order numbers...so what about Halo Wars?
Read Mindboggle's post. It explains it.
Granted, no one can argue that the DS' rpg library is good--but those rpgs were good when they were originally released years ago.
I really don't consider remakes or releases "finer" or "quality" rpgs compared to new IPs.
And Truth, I doubt you've played either Demon's Soul or WKC or even Infinite Undiscovery.
There are two separate teams. Level 5 is working on DQ IX and NOT FF XIII. So, unless they have one QA team between each development, it makes no sense and sounds suspicious.
you're so naive.
Everybody knows that Uncharted never innovated, improved or did nothing new within the genre.

Ahh yes. Because I have a complaint about a short sighted article I'm a fanboy---despite the fact Gears of War 2 is pretty well represented in the Gamertag located in my user profile.
And obviously you missed the point of my comment---which was directed at the article's claim that because the game was designed around such a system that it is a "shining example."
But so you think I'm not answering your question, a prime example of game development with regar...
Shhh.. Name
Of course the cover system in Uncharted is more natural. ND took the cover system and found a way to implement it into the game without it feeling like you're forced into doing it. In fact, ND took the concept and *gasp* refined it from the Gears system.
But the game didn't reinvent the wheel. So it doesn't matter.
/sarcasm
Exactly. While I personally would never buy this game, the fact remains that this game should be allowed to be sold to whomever wants it.
Free speech and expression are not and should never be conditional.
