Agreed. That game sold me on the Dreamcast. I still play that and Crrrazy Taxi!
I have 3 copies of that game and all of them freeze on me.
I wonder how many copies of Mass Effect were sold because of this controversy?
I understand what you're saying. Sony's the one that made the big deal about BC and Xbox 360's lack of it, and the fanboy brigade was out in full force bashing on it. Now that Sony's dropping BC support all we see is "if you want to play PS2 games keep your PS2".
If you're looking to play PS1 and PS2 games in High Def you're going to be sorely disappointed. The games play fine, but often look like crap. Especially PS1 games.
The PS3 is already capable of emulating the Emotion Engine from the PS2. It is the graphics synthesizer that isn't currently emulated.
I don't think that it is fair to say that if PS3 were capable of emulating PS2 that it would have been there from the start. It wasn't necessary at the start.
I'm not really sure what difference it makes that the dad is religious. Wouldn't he still be a jerk even if he weren't?
Would it have been better if the father were not religious? I'm not sure why that distinction was made.
You've never played Flash games embedded into HTML pages? You've never watched game videos embedded into HTML pages?
There's a Tech section for a reason.
Bubbles for you.
Lawyers are the only ones to ever win class action lawsuits.
If the graphical representation of time is what constitutes 4D graphics then couldn't it be said that any 3D game where time is represented graphically is a 4D game, correct? Seems to me like Grand Theft Auto III did that when time progressed from night to day and the weather changed from sun to rain to fog, etc.
Clearly the PS3 isn't the only platform that will be capable of that. PC graphics technology evolves so much faster than console technology.
Looks like everyone wins with this game. Good job Capcom!
I was playing Grand Theft Auto on my PC before there was ever a PS2. Top-down excellent goodness it was.
Bluetooth headsets are so cheap. You can get a decent one for $20. You can even get a cheap USB one for less than ten bucks. I've run into plenty of people on XBL that don't use headsets. On games like Test Drive Unlimited I usually turn mine off because there are so many people and so much noise clutter.
Mine died two weeks before Christmas and I got it back two days after. I didn't run out and buy a new one though.
I wouldn't say that BC on the 40gb is impossible. They would need to emulate the PS2's graphics synthesizer chip via software as well and then get that talking with the Emotion Engine emulator. I'm sure the PS3 is powerful enough to pull that off, I'm just not sure that Sony is going to put the effort into it.
That's right. There is still some hardware in the 80gb to aid in backward compatibility. The EE chip was removed, but the GS chip remains. The 40gb has neither chip, so that's why there's no PS2 compatibility.
@thedude17655 - If you do a Google search you can see that the 80gb and 40gb in fact have completely different motherboard configurations. They are not made on the same lines.
I've known since the 40gb was announced that the 80gb's days were numbered. They have two different motherboard configurations and Sony's not going to be able to support that and continue to get prices down. It's going to be another 60gb scenario where they sell through their stock of 80gb and all that's left is the 40gb.
After that they'll be down to a single SKU, and in my opinion that's the right place to be.
Coming Summer 2008.
I find this comment so funny. HTML must die. No matter what scripting language you use it all gets sent back to the browser in HTML.
