There is less of a compelling reason for someone to upgrade to Blu-ray from DVD than there was from VHS to DVD. Many new DVD titles upconvert so well that it is hard for the average person to see the advantage of the new format. The move to DVD was clear.
I guess that Microsoft invested all of that time, money and effort into HDi just because they didn't have anything else to do.

Funny how the pictures are so blurry.
I'm glad I didn't buy an HD-DVD player.
HD-DVD players are going to be collector's items and people will want to have them. Like laserdisc players.
Microsoft was not going to release a model with a built-in HD-DVD drive. Where did you get that from?
Toshiba co-developed the Cell processor. They didn't give up anything for it. I guess it is hard for some people to wrap their brains around the fact that companies like Sony and Toshiba are in multiple businesses and are very strong strategic allies in some of them.
Anyone who has suffered RROD can definitely find humor in that.
I would have liked the blue.
It's at 50% for me. My first one broke and I'm on my second one.
NBA Jam FTW! Man I killed a ton of time with that game!
I still love my SNES. I brush it off for some Street Fighter II and Actraiser from time to time.
Betamax actually lived a very long life. Sony only stopped producing recorders in 2002. It was a very successful format despite not being the winner of the initial format war.
Nope. I don't think that. I don't think that Microsoft has that kind of influence.
The only 360's I've seen lately are Arcade systems. Those things are everywhere.
I just wish they would focus on some awesome games for the PSP I have now.
All I had to do was go and re-download my stuff.
You do realize that SKU changes and hard drive sizes are not really good weapons to bash the 360 with, right? I mean, the 360 hasn't lost any features since it was introduced so your completely irrelevant and off-topic post really doesn't count for much.
I'll reserve judgement until Home is released. It isn't something that I see myself really getting excited about, but I could be wrong.
That's a shame. Lots of blue laser diodes lost to posterity.
