I've never had my system overheat or glitch out and I've had it for 14 months. The software available for the 360 is much better than what is currently available for the PS3, too.
I haven't seen a core 360 in stores for months, anyway. I think that the black 360 will stick around, though. People seem to like it, and some people I know bought Elite just for the color. I would expect that in time that all 360's will be HDMI enabled in order to cut total production costs. At that point the differences will be color, HDD size and included HDMI cable.
Why do companies cut prices on consoles? They cut prices as a reaction to slowing sales. There hasn't been a reason for Microsoft to cut prices, so they haven't done it. The length of time on the market has nothing to do with it. That's why Sony is looking at cutting prices only 7 months after launch.
Microsoft doesn't need to trump Sony on a price cut. I think that they will cut prices as a reaction if Sony does, but not before. They do need for the Elite to be a full $100 les...
So the delay really doesn't bother me.
You don't lose any of your games saves or content when you have your 360 repaired. You keep your hard drive when you send the console back.
Who cares if it is PS3 exclusive or not? It isn't like half of the 360's library isn't run and gun anyway. People can speculate all they want, but there's no 360 logo on the offical game site. So that's probably a pretty big hint that a PS3 version will be released before a 360 version. But it is Ubisoft, so probably going to go multiplat sooner or later anyway. They're like the king of ports at this point.
My PS2 stopped working 4 months after I got it. My PS1 wouldn't play FMV unless it was upside down because overheating issues caused the CD drive assembly to warp.
I don't know why people are busting the 360 for quality issues. It took Sony 3 generations to get it together.
But that one was the PS2. How quickly we all forget. The reason they sold so many was because so many people had to buy new ones due to the old ones no longer reading discs.
It isn't $300. Free stuff that you probably would not have purchased anyway doesn't lower the price.
I wonder how he justifies his position based on quality, recommending the PS2 as a valid alternative? The PS2 has a terrible history of breakdowns and DRE's. Microsoft is standing behind the 360 better than Sony has ever stood behind any of their products. I've been skeptical of Sony's stuff every since my first PS2 stopped reading discs 4 months after I bought it. I had to pay to have it repaired, plus pay shipping both ways. They sent me a refurb that didn't work, either. So I had to pay to...
But they are almost always overpriced. In nearly every category you can find something that works as well or better for less money. The 360 has a higher failure rate than the PS3, but Microsoft is standing behind it and it has better games right now. I don't see who can argue with that. The PSP is very well designed, too. But the DS Lite is killing it with a lower price and better software.
And Microsoft is standing behind their product in a much better way than Sony ever has. ...
...to determine the outcome of the current generation of consoles? It's laughable at best.
There's no doubt that Nintendo is going to overtake everyone. The narrow-minded fanboys will say that the Wii is not "next gen", whatever that means, can't argue with the fact that the Wii is eating the PS3's lunch and working on the 360's. Seven months into it the Wii is still at peak demand and the PS3 is struggling. Looks more like the PS3 was the fad.
Everyone knows there is a high 360 failure rate. No surprises there.
Considering that he's leaving Microsoft and donating a huge chunk of his money to charity.

That's where his money is going.
Nothing stops developers from creating their own tools. It isn't limited toolsets that keep the PSP from having good games. It is the lack of creativity and the still (relatively) high price tag. No wonder devs aren't focusing on it. Its main competitor is outselling it due to being $40 cheaper, so that's where developers focus their time and money.
I love my PSP, and I'm glad I won it in a drawing, because with the glut of mediocre software I would have never paid $169 for it....
The Best Buy here had a whole endcap shelf display of them a week ago. There were about 30 of them on the display. Of course, they were all gone yesterday. But they are making it into stores.
I think the "false demand" claims people make are funny, though. Making people want them by NOT supplying them? Does it really work that way?
The fanboys come out to attack Sega for saying that the PS3 needs a price cut. I wish people would wake up, because the PS3 hasn't exactly been lighting up the sales charts since the initial launch rush was over. The system needs more games and a more competitive price, because it has proven out in the market that it is not the value that everyone says it was at $599. All we hear is "wait until this game comes out" or "wait until E3" or "wait until this month" or...
Is the most poorly written article I've read in a long time. Pure torture on the eyes.
I really wish it was news, too.
When did blog posts become news? Someone should really be screening this stuff better.
This "article" is just fanboy idiocy at an all time high.
