Yeah, I'm thinking that if Microsoft did have a supply problem after the holidays it wasn't because of strong sales. I think it was to sell through the rest of the really buggy hardware. So a self-imposed supply constraint versus one driven by demand.

Actually, Amazon.com said "discontinued" not "supply is low" when the shortage was going on. Both the Pro and Elite had "discontinued" in their listings. Now the listing for the Pro has a tag that says "Newest version" above the price.

If PS3 outsells 360 in March then it seems like the beginning of a trend to me. I'm curious how GTA IV is going to impact sales of PS3 and 360.

Does it even really matter? February is over. March is halfway over.

Still looks bad when the last generation is more in-demand than the new generation.

Called a whole 2 Gamestops? Wow, what a purely scientific poll!

That's a lot of software sold.

OMG! Features never before seen in a video game!

I think having to wait until a certain day of the week to accomplish missions is going to annoy me greatly.

If that's the case then they shouldn't sell it with computers that aren't capable of running it. That's misleading to consumers.

That would be nice. I would like that feature.

The hardcore gamer becomes the casual gamer as time goes on. I used to play games like crazy, but now that I'm older and have more responsibilities I just can't play like I used to. I think the explosion of casual gamers is mainly those of us that grew up in the 2600/NES generation. We still love games, we just can't play them like we used to.

It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.

I couldn't do it.

The last two PC's I've purchased with Vista I've replaced the OS with XP. Vista just does not run well to me.

I think that remote play has a way to go. The PSP is limited by a lack of buttons, so having to remap then and get used to the control scheme is a bit clunky to me. That's probably one reason why it isn't touted more.

I don't think it's ever too soon for price cuts. Since the price cuts so far only seem to extend to Europe Microsoft seems to be taking the fight to Sony's front door. I also don't think they cut price too soon because, in my opinion, gaming is way too expensive there. Or have the priced dropped in other areas as well?

Microsoft has envisioned Live as being a unified platform for a long time. And not just for gaming. Microsoft wants the Live network to extend across business applications and communications as well.

I see what you're saying. I guess most of the people willing to pay over $300 for a 360 have already done so, where it seems that there are still plenty of people willing to pay more than $300 for the PS3, right?

What else would the head of a gaming division say?

6668d ago 7 agree3 disagreeView comment

I wouldn't say that the 360 has peaked. The price is still very high compared to previous console generation. When the price for a decent model with a hard drive is released for under $200 people will buy more of them.

$349 for a 360 and $399 for a PS3 are hardly mass-market prices and based on the PS2's sales numbers only about 10-15% of the potential market has been tapped. All of the systems have a lot of life left.
