I bet it runs horribly. The PS3 only has 512MB RAM as it is and having to run Windows emulated on Linux? I don't see how it could possibly perform very well.
Yeah, Microsoft says to not plug the 360 into a surge protector. Most people tend to overload them, anyway. You can damage your electronics if you have them all plugged into the same surge protector and try to pull more power through it than your circuit supplies.
I won't pay for cruft, but I'll kick in a few bucks if it makes the experience more worthwhile.
When I used to spend some time in Second Life the only money I ever put into the game was about $10 to buy a cheap-but-good skin, some decent clothes and something that reasonably resembled hair. I had a good time with Second Life, so it was worth the money. Anything else I bought in the game came with money won in various ways.
Once I won $5,000+ Lindens when some moron...
I'll never put a system wrap or a different faceplate on my 360. They just look tacky to me.
The thing I do like about Xbox Live is that there aren't dedicated servers, so as long as someone is willing to play you can strike up a game. There have been several PC games that I really liked that I can't find a server for now because it isn't economically feasible for them to continue to be hosted.
People say that the peer-to-peer method is too laggy, but in all of my time playing DOA4 and Burnout Revenge online I only had a handful of games with lag. Some games like Gears o...
I use IE and Firefox (and sometimes Flock because I like the RSS integration) and in my line of work I can't get completely away from IE. Mozilla doesn't fully support ASP.NET and themes. Unless the new version of Firefox is better at it I'm sort of 50% IE, 50% Mozilla.
Oh, my comment wasn't in opposition of yours. I think people forget that HD-DVD was supported by Microsoft, but Microsoft didn't "own" the platform like Sony did Blu-ray.
My point is that I'm sure there are people that believe the outcome of HD-DVD would have been different if it were built-in to 360's. But nobody knows that for sure. Would things have been different? Probably. But only for the 360. And not in a good way.
I think saying that DLC is an alternative and not a replacement is the correct assessment at this point. Things like the XBL marketplace are great when you want to watch a high-resolution movie without having to leave home. It's essentially a rental without having to leave home, much like pay-per-view.
Obviously collectors aren't going to support a transition to DLC, but I think it is a viable option for those that will watch a movie once and never again.
What was Microsoft's entry into the format war? And what is Microsoft trying to play catch-up with? I'm not sure I follow what you're saying.
Hindsight is always 20/20, right? Could've, would've, should've.
I think the funniest thing is that most of the time people trying to crack this technology are just doing it for the thrill of it.
Yeah, I see your point. Those guys at Polyphony have created the most realistic car sim ever! I especially like how the cars realistically bounce off of obstacles without so much as a scratch. That's real next-gen car physics for you!
I've always thought that Gran Turismo is boring. The visuals have always been pretty, but it always felt stiff and lacked any real sense of speed. But that's just me.
My response would be that this argument is probably better kept in the open zone.
So by your reasoning Sony cutting features and dropping the PS3's price by $200 within a year was a last ditch effort? Is that what you're saying?
I think it's pretty lame to call a price cut for a console that's been on the market for nearly two and a half years a last ditch effort. Actually, that sounds just about right to me. As with every past generation, there are only so many people that will buy one at a given price point. When the prices drop the market broadens and more ...
I don't see how Microsoft can justify $100 for a 20gb HDD. So yeah, those need a price drop.
I'll never understand why people who'll never own a 360 care so much about RROD.
Three games for that price isn't bad.
Pretty cool update. I'll buy a BDLive disc just to try it out.
That comment was in regard to the overall attach rate for the 360, not just GTA. He was saying that 360 owners buy more games for their system than PS3 owners.
A little more than a month to go. Can't wait!
