Price comparison list wars is silly nonsense anyway. Everything you need to play games on the 360 comes in the box. "To get the same capabilities as X, you must buy A, B and C for Y!" What if I don't want or need the same capabilities? Why didn't you add 10 years of Live and make it $500 more? What if I just want to put in a game disc and play? What does that cost me? $199? Good deal if you ask me.

People need to understand that there is more behind the decision than ju...

Definitely need a flame-proof suit for this one. It doesn't matter which one you like more, just enjoy what you like. The idiocy of the disparaging comments is tragic.

I agree with you, but I'm not so sure that Forza deserves the bashing that it's getting. It didn't release in North America until 10/27 and has sold over 900K units worldwide in the last 3 weeks. That's better than mega-hyped games like Resistance 2 and LittleBigPlanet.

The kind of idiot that is now here going "bawwww....MS sucks! you've stolen songs!"

That's the kind of idiot.

I guess you're the kid that needs to grow up, because there's this little thing called "personal responsibility" that you don't seem to have quite grasped the concept of. I've never pirated anything, including music. Why? Because it is wrong.

Just because you might not be able to afford something doesn't mean you're entitled to it for free. Gaming is not a right, you're not entitled to games for free because you can't afford them due to having a mortgage and being in d...

You wouldn't get banned for fixing it unless you put parts in it that modified the intended operation of the console. They don't have anyway to know that it was opened and you re-soldered contacts or installed an x-clamp. But they're going to know if you changed any of the hardware or firmware to something other than what was originally there.

Piracy is like a drug to some people. The more you can get for free the more you want. They can still play their pirated games on their banned consoles, but they can't play online. So which is the bigger addiction, the free games or the online play? If it's the online play then yes, people will probably buy new consoles. If it's the free games, then probably not.

Wow. Three years and more than 50 million consoles later Wii still rings up a half-million in sales in North America. That's just amazing.

In case you didn't notice the PS3 is in second place this month. That's hardly cause to say it's all over.

If the last 36 months haven't decided the future of the console war I doubt the next 3 months are going to do it.

The banning of the consoles happened in November. But I wouldn't expect that to bring them happy new customers.

Nintendo is back at the top of the heap this month. They'll be interesting to watch through the holidays. I wonder how Super Mario Bros. Wii will do? I know that I'll be picking it up, along with Assassins Creed 2 on PS3.

Wii kicked butt in October! I guess that all of the folks with the "Wii is dead!" comments were wrong. PS3 is still going strong, ahead of the 360. But the people predicting that they would continue to sell nearly half a million a month appear to be wrong, considering it's down 140K month over month. And 360 down 100K month over month.

Looks like the Wii still has what it takes.

Facebook and Twitter on game consoles. I'd rather them spend the time on something that's actually useful.

MS can only tell if you've changed your hardware configuration or updated the firmware on any device. Things like the X-Clamp so far aren't detectable via the hash that gets transmitted to Microsoft when you log in to Live.

If you swap a fan or add a device that draws more power than spec they're going to see that. If you update the firmware on your hard drive or DVD drive, they're going to see that. They're not going to detect re-soldered contacts as long as the components are ...

If someone has to buy a new console because their previous console was banned for being modded then that is not a fake sale, it's a real one. It doesn't matter why someone buys more than one. Every time money goes down on the counter for a new box it's a sale, regardless of why someone buys it.

And ps3ftwin, your posts have been blaming Microsoft for the actions of shopkeepers. The shopkeeper showed you a red-ringed 360? Right. The shopkeeper wanted you to buy a battery accessor...

Who said anything about leaving things unfixed? I know I didn't. My point was that PSN is experiencing growing pains that Xbox Live has already been through. Adding a million or so new PS3 users in the past several weeks is exposing brittle parts of the infrastructure that must now be fixed. I have no doubt that the problems will be addressed.

And I don't need to defend Xbox Live and its cost, because I don't pay for it and I don't play games on it. My gamertag is in my profile....

PS3 has always had mandatory firmware updates. Every major update has been mandatory. There have been a few optional updates, but that's been an exception, not the rule.

Microsoft doesn't have to motivate developers to get enough servers up because Microsoft hosts the servers themselves. That's one of the things the $50 pays for, server capacity. Having had load issues in the past Microsoft probably already has a good enough network infrastructure to handle pretty much anything.

Personally I think that this debacle fully explains why some 360 gamers have no qualms about paying for Xbox Live. Microsoft has been through this in the past and had the capacity to meet the load. There have been times when Live couldn't handle the load, but Microsoft learned from the mistakes of the past and made the infrastructure better.

The PSN's model of having the developers host the servers failed this time, but hopefully they learn from this and adjust accordingly.
