I blame Activision more than RedOctane. Take something excellent like Guitar Hero, make endless lame iterations in an attempt to bleed it dry and then sell off the scraps. Hopefully Rock Band stays relevant.
They would just complain that it was Microsoft stealing market share by spending money, must like they always do. That's what they always complain about.
People can't seem to remember times before PlayStation, can they? The first 6 games in the series were on Nintendo platforms. So this "PlayStation is the home of Final Fantasy" mantra is just so silly.
No kidding, right? I mean, Microsoft should have thrown the PS3 logo up in the commercial spot they paid for just so people would know they could buy it for other systems!
Isn't this whole thing just ridiculous?
People will argue over the lamest of things. Who gives a crap if Microsoft paid for a Final Fantasy TV spot? I'm sure Sony will be paying for some as well. Final Fantasy is one of the most recognized names in JRPG, so it can sell hardware. Microsoft knows it, hence the bundle and TV spots.
I swear people calling a normal business practice desperation are such massive tools. It's called marketing, and any company that wants to stay in business in a competitive environment has to ...
I'm thinking more of a Fall 2012 timeframe for Microsoft. I can see where traditional wisdom calls for 2011 seeing as that would be 6 years after the 360. But something tells me that the cycle is going to be longer this time around. And I wouldn't be surprised to see the next PlayStation announced to release at the same time. Sony's not going to want to let anyone get the jump on them.
I don't know. I don't think that Sony has ever really been fully committed to the PSP. I've had one since the PSP-1000 was the only model on the block and there just aren't any games that I felt I just had to have. If the PSPGo had been an actual upgrade instead of a digital distribution experiment it could have been something special. But when you disenfranchise people like me who have a collection of UMD-based games that they can't play anymore...I don't know. I feel a bit left out in the c...
There are a lot of games. I'm already backed up with games and it's only the middle of February. I probably wouldn't be if I hadn't started InFamous again, but at least it's a good distraction.
It's a shame that you have to caveat that you own both consoles.
Crackdown 2 does look like a lot of fun. I really enjoyed the first one, so I'm really looking forward to round 2.
Amazon is a really poor representation of overall demand for anything. If you want to know what's popular on Amazon they they tell you. But I'll argue any day that Amazon doesn't own enough of the overall market share to be a barometer for the industry as a whole.
Not saying that this isn't a good time for PS3 and games like Heavy Rain and FFXIII. But why do people take Amazon's rankings as though they are the industry standard barometer for demand? If the majority of consoles and games flowed through Amazon then it would have more credibility. But how many of the people here wait for Amazon to ship their games after release versus just going to Gamestop, Best Buy or other retailer of choice to pick up your new goods?
This is a dig agains...
"Xbot" is clearly a term that's not allowed in this section according to the posting guidelines, so if I were you I'd watch it before you get banished to the Open Zone for throwing that around.
On topic, though, you can't push back a game that's never had an official release date. But you have to admit, by the time this releases it will have been nearly 6 years since the last game released. You have to understand why that frustrates some people, especially longtime fans...
Sense of speed has always been one of my main gripes with Gran Turismo. I'm more of a fan of arcade racers that don't require as much technique, so I find myself getting impatient when I'm supposed to be going 80 but it feels like 25. The time trial demo didn't impress me with its sense of speed, but I'm really hoping that's just because it had to be scaled back.
I can't believe I'm getting excited for this one. But I am.
This game looks really good. You can see how the extra time is being used.
Microsoft paid for a TV spot. What's the big deal? I'm sure Sony will have their TV spots soon enough.
And it's got what? Four? Five games? Most of which nobody has even heard of.
Yeah, that thing's been setting the world on fire. Not bashing you, THC. But there has never really been great support for peripherals like this, so I don't see how they'll decide anything.
The answer is nothing, since Sony is underwriting the games. Sony's first-party studios would be out of business without their corporate backing. It isn't like they could make games for the 360 even if they wanted to.
A lot of people seem to believe that one company is in it for money and the other is in it because they love their fans. But the truth is that they're all in it for money. I'm sure Sony has greased some palms, too.
Honestly, many of those games were meh before they went multiplat. Tekken and Ace Combat havn't been good in a few iterations, which may be why Sony wasn't fazed. In my opinion Namco Bandai, Square Enix, etc. have been off their game for years.
This is all so lame. It's all Microsoft's fault because PS3-focused websites took their ad money, right? Don't people have games they could be playing?
