I tried them both and was equally unimpressed. But I'm not an FPS fan, so my point of view isn't really all that valid. I think they both looked equally sharp and played equally well. The thing about FPS for me is that no matter how pretty the dress is that you put on the pig, at the end of the day it is still just a pig. FPS is SO overdone.

Part of me wants to believe that Sony knew of the potential for exploits via the OtherOS route and that was the primary reason for removing that option from the slim models. It wasn't that people weren't using it so it was removed. I agree with you. And I won't pretend to understand the motives of hackers as most aren't in it just because they're curious. There's always some sort of personal credibility they're trying to build and to gain that all sense of right and wrong gets tossed out the window.

Why do people automatically assume that all hacks are related to piracy? Sure, pirates rely on firmware exploits for piracy, but hacking the hardware allows for homebrew development as well. Believe it or not there is a minority out there that just want to know how the hardware works.

A game like this deserves to be played by as many people as possible. So hopefully it will come to PS3 at some point. Not everyone has a gaming-capable PC, so for some of us consoles are our best bet.

Yep, until there are visible results there's no reason to believe that it has been done. I don't know that I believe that there's BC buried in all PS3's, but I guess it's possible. I know that if it is there we won't see it again until Sony officially stops production of the PS2. Too much revenue at stake there.
