Not to be a jerk, but did they ask before they removed backward compatibility? Or memory card readers? Or two of the USB ports? Or the OtherOS feature from slim models?
If they're going to do it they're going to do it. They're not going to ask first out of respect to their customers. They never have.
<Sarcasm>
I would feel bad for the masses that threw away their PC's running Microsoft's evil OS to use their PS3's as a Linux-powered desktop supercomputer. They won't be able to post vitriol on N4G if this is true.
Surely this couldn't be true. After all, it is impossible to hack the PS3, right?
</Sarcasm>
Seriously, though. I've never used this feature. I wouldn't miss it if it were gone.
Where are the hi-res screenshots? Those two little images on the page?
Yeah, the damage creation crowd is already in full effect.
Every studio pretty much bets the farm on their latest game, because it could be their last. You're only as good as your last project, because that's the one that gets you funded for your next project.
Actually, people are shallow for criticizing someone for supporting a format that they love and not getting fed up with it at some arbitrary breaking point. There was nothing incoherent about that post, it just doesn't fit with your very narrow view of the world. I can tell that by the choice of words: shoddy, broken, faulty.
You know, if someone's 360 breaks within three years of purchase Microsoft stands behind it. That's good enough for people who enjoy their games. So I don'...
Submissions like this are like cancer. They just lead to submission wars to discredit the "other" console. People always trying to make their favorite console look good by making the others look bad. If you want funny then move over to BadJoystick, since that's what it was created for. Because the only thing that articles like this generate on this site is flamewars.
A cheap way to try to boost score on N4G.
This is so lame. Submitted as flamebait because anything negative gets a lot of heat. Waiting for the inevitable "Dear PS3" rebuttal.
Maybe vs. later PS2 models. But for the first couple of years PS2 DVD drives were pure crap.
I've had my 360 since before the PS3 was released and I absolutely love it. I'll admit that in 2009 I spent way more time with my PS3, though.
2010 is shaping up to be interesting. The first game I bought this year was Mass Effect 2 on the 360. The next game I buy will probably be Heavy Rain. Hopefully there's enough variety this year to keep me engaged with both systems.
Honestly, if they didn't have the name of the system next to the tiny picture I would think they were the same version.
I'd really like to see some HD grabs of the same scenes to get a better idea. Doesn't really matter, though. Because if I do get it I'll pick up the PS3 version.
That's funny! Bubbles up!
If there was ever a thread made for listwars this is it.
OLED is cool, but way too expensive right now. I think the fashionable TV's right now are the LED backlit plasma and LCD displays. The latest Samsungs have awesome picture quality and are only 1.2 inches thick. Although these models are pretty pricey, they aren't as pricey as OLED.
Microsoft had a group of 1st party studios, but they either sold them, released them or closed them. Said that it was better if the studios were independent. So it isn't a matter of Microsoft not having enough time to build a collection. They've been in the game for 10 years. It was just a decision that Microsoft made.
Sony pays for exclusivity by purchasing development studios and funding their development efforts. Microsoft pays for exclusivity by funding development at third p...
That's a lot of content for $20. I'm sorely tempted.
As if this wasn't common knowledge. Microsoft released or disbanded many (but not all) of their 1st party studios a long time ago. They have 10 or so left. It's one of the things that allows them to make console exclusivity deals and get titles formerly exclusive to other consoles on their system. It was a strategic decision on their part. The thing people argue over is whether it was the right decision.
I can deny that it was the first "truly next gen" game. I played quite a few "truly next gen" games before Gears came along.
Games I played that I enjoyed way, way more than Gears. Like Dead Rising, Saints Row, Dead or Alive 4, Oblivion. No intention of getting into listwars with anyone. But those games I liked way more than Gears, and they all came before it.
I probably wouldn't be playing games any differently. The author of this article sure knows how to stretch to write the story.
I hope the PS3 version isn't gimped because of the 360.
