The visuals and the action CGI looks great, however the choice of song or more precisely the music style didn't fit well.
I agree, it looks like a good rental.
I prefer a demo for a game I'm unsure about and in this case there was a change of direction during development so I'm doubly cautious. And then to come out early and tell people there won't be a demo... Without a demo, for me it becomes a rental only.
@ 8.4 Just a small note regarding the lag comment for Natal, accuracy of interpretation and lag are diametrically opposed. The more you reduce the lag, the more it will occasionally make mistakes like "BAM! there it is", especially with the chip removed now.
In my opinion he should focus on the business side of things and put his ego and personal politics aside. If his own customers want Flash on their iPod and iPad, then at least make it an option even if you charge for it. If his own customers want Blu-ray on their Macs, then at least make it a factory option even if you charge for it.
That's great news for some of us, I had not started it yet due to having too many games to play. Now when I do it will be better than the initial version.
I've seen a few attempts of "design by consensus", where a product is designed by contributions from everyone and all decisions go to majority vote. In all cases it led to complete failures, mismatch products trying to please everyone and ending up disappointing all.
It takes someone with a clear unique vision to be in charge of a top level design so that all aspects contributed by the team matches and fits well with the overall design. So I think Kojima is doing the r...
I agree on the pricing issue as I posted above. Whether this service survives long enough to get better over time or whether it dies at birth will all depend on pricing. It has to be priced so that it is much cheaper than buying a $199 console and $60 games.
Maybe they could launch with a low cost unlimited subscription, build a small customer base and over time improve their service as the technology advances.
That way they would start out as a cheaper alternatives to consoles (but yes, with lower performance too). There could be a market for that.
another reason mrv321 why traditional gamers like us are at the loosing end of this trend is that unlike what people denied early on, we know now that they are indeed diverting resources away from other games to put on these new motion games and they will divert marketing time and $$$ away from advertising traditional games in favor of motion games
Wow, talk about overload, I had no ideas that many games were coming on the PSP this year. With a ton of anticipated games on the consoles already, I'm not sure how I will find the time to play all the ones that I would want.
@ hatchimatchi
I agree with your sentiment, hopefully Sony doesn't sink too much money pushing 3D so soon. Or else I could see them loosing more money then they did with the PS3 so far.
A lot of enthusiasts already got their HDTV and most are not 3D compatible. On top of that, those that have stayed on the sideline so far have done so mostly because of cost so even if they make the jump to HD soon, they will be getting cheaper models which of course won't support ...
I agree, Nintendo has had a few years unopposed to conquer that market (casuals), they have quite a foothold now.
It would take something revolutionary and not just copy-cat me-too in order to have a chance to make a dent.
We will have to wait for the Natal and Arc games to come out (yes, I'm lumping them together for now) to pass judgment but I'm not holding my breath.
@ Qui-Gon Jim
Your explanation is plausible too.
We may never know the truth although sometimes that kind of info comes out 10-15 years later when they interview an insider who reminisces about the past and since the product is no longer on the market they feel free to "spill the beans".
the funny thing is that at my work we still have some of these in some places and they truly are about 10 years old
@1.2 you mean this one?

It would fit really nice in as an April release. Make it happen :)
They said Spring originally, so while there was no date, there was a timeframe given by them. I suspected however that it was not going to happen. I had posted a comment about that a short while ago: http://www.n4g.com/NewsCom-...
I think for Sony to launch in the same time window as Natal will be to their disadvantage, Microsoft has a large and deep marketing army in pl...
While I agree it will be a great epic game and probably one of the best game of the year for many gamers, I doubt it will get any GOTY 2010 awards from the media. It will follow the same fate as Killzone 2, being released in the first 3 months of the year means that by the end of the year most of media focus will be on recent fall games and many while having fond memories of GOW3 will think it was a previous year game.
If you don't believe me, look at the past GOTY, almost alway...
