@3.2, that's actually a very accurate translation when you cut the BS

I agree, MS is hyping Natal because they have an uphill battle since people have had Wiis for a few years now and it already has a huge mindshare. So MS knows it must advertise a lot and get attention. I may not like the few games shown so far with Natal but they are doing what they need to do business-wise.

As for Sony, to use the terms of the headline, they are guilty of silence. I mean, we don't even know the name of the device let alone seen any game demo unless you count ...

I agree, I would think with Halo record sales that they could afford to develop two games at a time. One could be the next Halo sequel and the other game could be something new.

I would love to see what they could do if they applied the current gen treatment to their older ONI game, a mix of TPS and fighting mechanics. Hey, they could even make it in the Halo universe just like Halo Wars was a spin off.

I know this comment won't be popular but to be honest, seeing this guy jump around and flail is arms around is the saddest gaming moment I've seen since Wii Music (Myiamoto pretending to play the flute and Ravi pretending to play the drums).

I think this will be great for kids and casuals but unless they show some complimentary gameplay to hardcore games with a regular controller, count me out.

Hype and Marketing can sell anything

I agree. I played and finished Brutal Legend. While it was enjoyable and had some redeeming qualities, I would not have awarded it anything for strategy. I think that Art Direction was the best part of Brutal Legend for capturing the essence of old school rock.

I also have some doubts mainly because I usually don't enjoy 3D games on the DS but from the trailer it does appear that they have remained very faithful to the art style and gameplay elements so I'm still hopeful:

Actually according to the wiki, it is not Amy but a young male pup, possibly her son.

The fact that they keep showing demos, keep promising all sorts of things, are in never ending closed betas and yet after all this time still don't come to market; it makes me wonder if their real business strategy is really to become a game service company or if it is actually just to get bought by a bigger player.

Everything I have seen so far seems well made, the concept\story is intriguing and the gameplay looks refreshingly different (light fighting mechanic). There is also already a large following for the game. So it should do well review and sale wise.

It seems however that if it was such an important game financially, that they would have kept the PC release to tap into two markets and increase sales. (if they were afraid of pirates, they could have at least offered it on Steam)

It almost looked to me in one part that he used the flashlight to slow down or weakened an enemy than shot it.

@3.5 I didn't really have a real point, the rating made me curious and I went and looked up other good games. At first I was starting to worry seeing how many had been rated Mature but then I saw that the first Fatal Frame was also rated T so it gave me confidence again that Alan Wake can pull off the anticipated creepy atmosphere since Fatal Frame was able to do so also with a T rating.

Possibly they may have worked a bit with the ESRB to make sure they would qualify for the...

@3.1, yes I have good memories of the first Fatal Frame being spooky in a Grudge kind of way. I think the sequels got M because there were some sacrificial altars with blood that could be seen.

Sorry but blacklisting a site just means they don't get interviews and they have to buy their own game copies to review. It wouldn't stop them from reviewing PS3 games, it would in fact probably just lower the PS3 review ceiling from 7/10 to 5/10 or less.

Since this is about ratings, it's interesting to make some comparisons:

Alan Wake : T for teen

Halo 1-3 : M for mature
Alone in the dark : M for mature
Eternal Darkness : M for mature
Silent Hill (many) : M for mature
Dead Space : M for mature
Fatal Frame : T for teen
Fatal Frame 2-3 : M for mature
Siren : M for mature
Mass Effect 1-2 : M for mature
Heavy Rain : M for mature
Haunting Ground : ...

I agree, for those that can afford it owning both consoles is the best solution. You get to play the excellent exclusives on each console and for the multiplatform titles you have the freedom to choose which version to pick.

Single console owners sometimes end up buying subpar games to fill the gap between exclusives; in my opinion they should save that money to buy the other console instead, that way they can just get the good games on both systems so as to get that same amount...

Iceman is right, patent applications and patents take forever.

Some additional info, it was filed on August 8, 2008.

It really doesn't matter what staffers want. It's Square Enix upper management decision to make. The fact that they haven't made it yet is more telling than anything else. Meaning it won't happen. Just accept it and move on already.

@3.2 I agree that ONI was a great game for it's time... but the original PC\Mac version. The PS2 version was a lesser port.

It was one of the first and still to this day one of the rare game to seamlessly integrate a full fighter mechanic (high, medium, low, punch, kick, throw) in a 3rd person game and to boot add acrobatics and guns!

When Bungie was bought by MS and MS was trying to push their console in Japan, I was always perplexed they never tried to revive ONI...

People can choose to care or ignore achievements\trophies. I would go one step further if it were me and allow the option to the gamer to disable those from being tracked\displayed if so desired.

Personally I prefer to play the game naturally, explore per my own will, use weapons\items\tactics of my own choosing and immerse myself in the game.

Sadly I know some addicts who read lists on the internet, buy the guides, follow forum postings, etc. and spend half their...
