I agree, another demo that didn't do the game justice was the demo for Valkyria Chronicles. The game was so much better than the short boring demo.

I agree, in fact I had posted a comment about that a short while ago: http://www.n4g.com/NewsCom-...

At last E3 I also posted my impressions that the Sony motion controller was probably improvised. The execs probably got wind of MS's Natal presentation, panicked, scrambled around and said: "hey, we can use that tech demo from Dr. what's his name!", then turned ar...

I also don't hate 3D, I actually like the additional effect... small amounts at a time. I have problems with long sittings.

I agree with nogolis that the glasses solution is kind of ancient. Yes I understand the technology progressed and they are faster now and such but the concept is ancient. Wearing glasses is ok for a movie theater outing from time to time but it will get old fast at home.

My opinion is that if the technology\price of 3D TV without glasses is n...

I don't see either how they can launch in Spring now, there is still no official name, no price, no date, no game list. It takes a few months to build interest through marketing before a launch. I think a delay is unavoidable now. Summer at the earliest and I wouldn't be surprised if they don't push it to fall and just try to beat Natal by a few weeks.

I agree that this could be a problem, it would be like the PSP lacking a second thumbstick, it would cripple 3D game controls for the entire lifespan of the device. I suspect Nintendo might have some patents that would prevent a nunchunk copycat.

Functionally I understand what you are saying that modern consoles are very PC-like.

Being closed-PCs however give them the advantage of standardization. As I was saying before, part of the problem with PCs as gaming consoles is that there is too much hardware choices and variations. It's too confusing for the regular customer. They would have to come up with minimum standard PC configuration, for example "this is a gaming PC level 500, it ca...

The only way I see PC gaming possibly taking market share away from consoles for the "living room" gamers would be indirectly through something like OnLive, where technically games while being run remotely are run on PCs.

Otherwise, I don't see kids\moms\seniors and non-tech savvy gamers putting up with the added complexities of maintaining a gaming PC.

I won't use the cost excuse, PCs have gotten cheaper and launch consoles have gotten more expensive. I...

I agree with you on the industry trend remarks. I was one of the guy on here back when the Wii became popular a few years ago that expressed fear about the casual craze catching on to the point where MS and Sony would want to jump on the bandwagon and start diverting resources and studios away from traditional games and into waggle\minigames. Many people made fun of people expressing those early views. Sadly, on both MS and Sony's fronts, the trend as you ...

@ 1.1 Professor Layton games are good if you like puzzles \ brain teasers.

It's a bit like Puzzle Quest where PQ had a story but the core gameplay was the Bejeweled-like grid. In Professor Layton there is a mystery story but the core gameplay is made of puzzles to solve.

One thing is certain, it does generate a lot of curiosity and interest, this article posting is well over 1000 degrees now, it's really up to them to deliver and price it reasonably.

I think one of the main factor that will tilt it in one direction or the other is pricing.

If it is priced low (unlimited membership) then people might be willing to give it a chance and put up with technical difficulties as the new service gets up and running on a large scale.

If it is priced similar to buying retail games (like MS with games on demand or Sony with full PSN\PSP games), then it will quickly get dismissed.

I'm not a doctor but I have read some articles about it. There are several factors involved.

First thing to understand is that the brain main function is to take inputs (senses) correlate them to known patterns (memories) and then predict what will happen next and act accordingly. This is very simplified but it's the gist of it.

When you see normally (in 3D for people with two good eyes) as objects move you know how their appearance will change with movement\depth ...

I agree with the first part of your comment and with other posters\articles that say that most casuals already have a Wii and won't be tempted with Natal or Wand since they are already happy.

However MS will come with full marketing and if they add Natal support to Halo Reach (they just "happen" to release around the same time...) then it will sell well to the curious faithful fans. Will it be used for long or turn up dusty like most hardcore player's Wii? Time will t...

That's why competition is great, I see the lists and having the choice to pick and choose the best games on both sides is great. While some bitterly argue about console wars, those lucky enough to own both are the true winners here.

I like 3D, Avatar 3D was visually stunning and I can see it improving movies and games. However, I think shutter glasses is the wrong choice to try to push at home as a solution.

And it's not a Sony or Blu-ray thing, I was an early Blu-ray supporter because even early on I could see it was technically the best choice.

Shutter glasses is just the worst possible choice for consumers.

I wish them luck but I think the technology they are pushing has too many drawbacks. On top of having to re-buy an HDTV, having to buy many pairs of expensive and delicate glasses (that kids can easily break), having to keep those glasses charged and of course having the discomfort of wearing them, isn't worth the 3D pop out effect. I agree with the posters above that a solution with no glasses would fare better. At the very least, the solution with the cheap\light\non-powered glasses that...

I'm actually surprised Microsoft hasn't bought them yet.

They could make that their next "console":
- no more piracy
- no more RROD or other manufacturing problems
- no need to support competitor format (Blu-ray)
- never get outspec'ed by a later released console again
- only worry about software (Microsoft's strength)
- by their latest estimate, 70% of 360 users already online, will only go up with time
- they can keep the 360 ...
