I agree with Hakimy, some multiplatform games are still good games.

While the best of the best games are most often 1st/2nd party exclusive games, there also cases on all platforms of average\poor exclusives in which cases a good multiplatform game is a better choice.

Great exclusive >> good multi >> average exclusive >> bad multi

So Vanquish could still be a good game. Looking forward to the demo.

It comes with the territory of being in the public eye, stop whining :)

Those are interesting observations backed with numbers. It does indeed seem like a foregone conclusion that Nintendo will end up with the most consoles sold this generation with over 100M and that Sony and MS will end up splitting the remainder closely with sub 100M units.

There are 2 factors however that make number analysis with previous generations a bit unpredictable. 1) Both MS and Sony are introducing motion controls in the middle of the generation in order to open new ma...

Good luck Corrwin. It isn't as clear cut as the article make it seem. Just relaunching the game, quitting and then doing a resync may work most of the time but I can confirm it does not work in all cases.

There are other factors at work such as was any trophy sync for that game before the glitch? Were new trophies earned during the glitch? Is it a game with front loading trophies or trophies that were patched later? And so on. I don't know the details but from experience so...

Loosing a few trophies is not the end of the world. However for those saying that this article is completely false, I can confirm that in some cases trophies are lost.

In my case I had a PS3 completely offline for a few weeks, been playing a game and getting trophies. When the time glitch happened on my main living room PS3 (which was online), I just stopped playing that one and played with the offline PS3 thinking it was safe. The save file from that play session got dated 19...

It's RROD in term of scope of how many people are affected but in term of impact I agree that it is too early to tell. I had to send my 360 back 4 times, each time having to wait 2-4 weeks before getting a refurbished unit back. If all the PSN does is lock us out for a day and maybe loose 1 day of save files, it won't be that big a deal in reality (although the internet will blow it out of proportion again).

@ 1.1, can't you just disconnect your PS3 from the network completely? That way it won't try to sync and you'll be able to play any offline game, whether it has trophies or not.

Once the PSN is back on, you can reconnect and go re-sync your trophies.

@3.1 The article says that beside the team working on Reach, that they have a second team working on the groundwork of another project but they can't say anything about it. People have been jumping to the conclusion that this could be a PS3 game. I'm just saying that if I were MS, I would be paying Bungie to work on a game for the next console already and launch with a bang.

Makes sense BeaArthur, for some reason or another people must think a demo is not likely.

Wow, a lot of disagrees. Since when are demos bad?

I'd just like a bit of playtime with it to make sure it is as good as it looks, then I'll pre-order it. Without a demo it becomes a rental for me. That's what I do to de-risk my purchases when there are no demos.

It's highly doubtful, if anything I could see them already working on a near launch title for the next Xbox console which would explain why they can't say much.

I would second that, of course it's always relative to someone's expectations. I expected just an ok game but it surprised me and was a lot of fun; enough so that when I finished it I wished there was more to play and I am hopeful for a sequel given how it ended.

thanks for the level headed discussion, rare thing on N4G

here's a bubble

and time will tell what product they come up with and then as consumers we can decide if it worth our money or not

The PS2 is still around at the same time as the PS3. I don't see why next gen consoles could not come out while the current gen consoles remain as an entry-level option for a few years. I'm not saying next gen consoles should come out tomorrow but I think to say "not for a long time" is pushing it too far.

I just think it would be a hard sell for cell phone providers to try to sell a phone with gaming buttons and thumbsticks on it to regular customers when the general public is currently hypnotized with all the smartphone touchscreens. So from a cell phone perspective, gaming would need to fit the touchscreen format, maybe just PSP minis type of games.

I know people would love the ultimate cell phone and gaming handheld combined in one package but so far (see Ngage) these efforts ...

Great to hear, now what about a demo?

5944d ago 5 agree6 disagreeView comment

I wouldn't get too excited yet, all he said was closer integration which could just mean logging into PSN using the phone and maybe some remote play.

Also, if the next PSP was a phone integration, than most likely it would be touch only. I would prefer the PSP2 to be a game centric handheld with buttons and 2 thumb-sticks.

I think Letros that this is really what they are thinking like you say. "Let's see how long we can milk this." Only once people stop buying and they see their global sales go down will they think about moving to a new console.

It would be quite a Bizarro world if Nintendo came out with an HD console while Sony and MS were distracted into adding casual add-ons... Won't happen but funny to think about

Using fixed TV resolution as a reason not to move to the next generation of gaming console is a weak argument. There were console generations that followed each other while people still just had the same SD TV. There are a lot of improvements that can be made by continuing to go forward beyond just resolution, like textures, polygon counts, increase number of details\enemies\objects, better physics, better AI, bigger maps, longer draw distances, less pop-ins, etc. And beside, current gen ...

Here is an idea, there are tons of games where you can customize the hero's appearance. In a case like this where they already show the villain (meaning it's not a secret or plot twist), why not allow you to customize their appearance? That way you could make a villain that looks scary\creepy to you.
