I agree. I think Microsoft should keep the 360 around for the casuals and thrifty gamers while coming out with a new Xbox for core gamers. Win-win
too expensive, too complicated, no major exclusive content; it's basically just good as an academic project
I like the action and gameplay of FPS. However I am disappointed that most of them stick to this convention of having a silent hero or near mute hero. It prevents the hero character to develop due to the lack of real interaction with the story. Most of the times you just stand there being told what is happening and what needs to be done by NPCs. I understand that some developpers want the player to feel like they are the hero but really nobody going through all the events that FPS heroes ...

I don't really care about talking to a virtual boy but what about making an AI (voice) for the console? (maybe you could choose a personality) It could do voice recognition and talk back like the sci-fi computers in Star Trek, 2001 Space Odyssey, etc.
That combined with kinect minority-report-like hand navigation could be cool.
Probably will be making a kinect version
It does sound like viral marketing, like Sony's failed attempt with "I want a PSP for xmas" except this time it's MS with "even non gaming people love Kinect"
Ideally there should be a news section for actual news and announcements. As an option, there could be a section for blogs and opinion pieces. All these "TOP X" articles would fall in the opinion pieces section.
Personally, I would rather just read news and announcements.
I agree, with 2 analog sticks it would finally offer the same level of controls as console games and it would differentiate themselves from 3DS and iPhone games.
If however they go the phone route like many predict, it will be a me-too product that will loose out to 3DS, iPhone and Android phones.
It would be an even bigger failure than the PSPGo to make a game-phone and try to go against Apple at this point, probably would end up like Ngage even with Sony behind it.
The PSP2 needs to focus on games with great graphics, good controls, etc. It's market is the niche market of teenagers\young adults that want portable gaming suited for their taste.
It's not as big a market as the kids market of the DS or the casual on the go market of the iPhone ...
Sadly, this sounds a bit like a bait and switch. Get people to put a deposit and pre-order a slim thinking they will be able to trade in their old 360 for a good price but once the date passes, people will have to forfeit their deposit or accept a lesser trade-in deal. I think Gamestop is doing the same thing in the US.
It seems that to really have a chance to appeal to more hardcore gamers that they would need to add a little incentive.
I understand that they don't want to risk alienating gamers by adding motion control into games like Halo and Gears. However, a lot of people seem to be interested for navigation of the blades, what about adding an option to allow game menu navigation with Kinect in Halo and Gears? At least then curious hardcore gamers could justify buying Kinect even ...
That would be a huge mistake from Sony. Cellphones are being dominated by iPhone and Android versions, they change often and that is what people want. A portable gaming console needs to be stable for a little while for developers to have time to make more than just mini-games. The cell phone market is just too crowded, it would be a worse mistake than the PSP Go.
Sony is better off catering to the part of the market that they have been able to maintain in parallel with the...
Just an idea, what if Sega had a partner? What if Sega was comissioned by Microsoft to make the next gen console so that Microsoft doesn't have to worry about the hardware this time around? It would allow Microsoft to have a better chance in Japan given the Sega angle, it would automatically guarantee Sega exclusives to Microsoft, it would give Sega the financial backing and unlimited marketing\advertising from Microsoft.
@ Captain Tuttle
What you say is true if you play online using the same account that was used to purchase the download game. But what about households with multiple gamer accounts? The fact remains that unless you call MS all your download games have reduced priviliges unless you stay online using your original account.
My whole point is that these measures cause some problems in some cases for no benefit to the gamers.
@ Captain Tuttle
My 360 died 4 times, each time I kept my HDD and they sent me a refurbished unit. Popped the HDD back in and to play download games again fully you need to call MS each time. My 360 hasn't died in the last year so maybe things changed since then but that's how it was at first.
@ Baka-akaB
That's a really good example, playing ME2 I kept denying connection to Cerberus. Call me old fashion but having to log in to...
So what happens when your console dies and you get a refurbished unit or a new one. Now for all these kind of games you either have to pay again or spend hours on the phone with the game company trying to convince them of your legitimate situation and move the license over? And you would have to do that for each game?
No thanks. As long as there are other options (competition) I won't spend my money on games like that.
I agree with 1.2 and 1.4, for some reasons I also could not get into Fallout 3, even after the slow beginning.
@1.2 They say the line between genius and madman is a thin one. I own some Apple products but to be honest Steve seems to be going on both sides of that line. Maybe it's due to all the heavy meds he had to take due to his illnesses.
I agree, I like the technology aspect but they would need to at least have one non-casual game announced for some of us to even seriously consider it.
