I agree, if Sony doesn't launch a PSP2 within 6 months of the 3DS, then they might as well not bother. Every month the 3DS goes unanswered, more and more developers will plan to make their next game on the 3DS. While Sony has some great first party studios, we all know by now that it is not enough to support a console on its own and that third party support is very important also.
Sizes? Prices? Resolution? Refresh rates? Brightness\Contrast\etc.?
The tech is interesting but I think it would appeal to more people if they used it to give the 360 an interface AI for the dashboard and other integrated application; I mean just make it Cortana and it would sell like crazy.
I don't think they would go that far but I could see them surprising people and announcing a late 2010 launch in order to catch the holiday sales mania. They had a lot of working demo unit at E3 and manufacturing can ramp up easily in 2-3 months. So it's really mostly a limitation of the game software unless they need hardware respins.
So I haven't read much about Portal 2 but I liked the first one that was included with the Orange Box. As a packaged-in game, it was a great short diversion.
How will they make it into a standalone game worth $60? Can people in the know enlighten me (save me some searching\reading time)? Will it be much longer, have more story, new elements added? Thanks in advance.
And looking at the mock-up, it looks like the analog touch pad has a left and right dot, if it can do the equivalent of two thumbsticks, I'll be really excited.
I saw we posted almost the same thing at the same time just with different currencies but logic is universal ;)
I'm not saying people shouldn't play MMO like that, it's their choice if they enjoy it. I just can't justify the value/cost myself.
Honestly, I don't get MMO games. $50 for the game and then $15/month or $180/year to play the same game over and over again? So $230 for the first year.
I'd rather buy 4+ games for that price that offer a mix of single player and multiplayer, as well as much needed variety in characters, gameplay and story.
I agree, MS will market it heavily for the holiday season, maybe drop a few viral hints of shortages to rattle holiday consumers a bit, and I would expect Kinect to sell a fair bit initially due to TV and web advertising. I would expect Kinect to outsell MOVE for the English regions (US, UK, Australia) for the holiday season.
MOVE will be more about slower sales in each locale but do better internationally and also more steady sales due to continuous support and positive fee...
True but also thinking about it, given their poor track record of late, maybe it's for the best if they don't try to make sequels to those.
I could see them doing that. $250 launch price with a Nintendo game to showcase the 3D, probably a mini-game collection.
Then 6 months to a year later, whenever sales start to slow down or if the PSP2 becomes reality, do a price drop to $200 and regain momentum and\or undercut the PSP2.
LOL, bubble for the laugh!
That video actually applies to fanboys of any console any game any device etc. Logic does not apply in those cases.
I agree that MGS:PW was great but you must admit that it would have controlled even better with two analog sticks.
I think the lack of a second thumbstick could be part of the reason. Just hear me out. In the west FPS ant TPS are very popular and the PSP with it's good graphics enticed gamers with that possibility. However without second thumbstick camera control, most 3D games were reviewed harshly for the controls. Then developpers gave up trying to make FPS and TPS work with the PSP control limitations and the games dried up to a trickle. Even if you can find a game or two here and there that ...
I agree, the worst part is that it is over 3 months away so there will be a ton more until then. Being over 3 months away I hope MS. Will have more games to preview, I would like to see more of the planned second wave of games.
I agree, for me to consider it they would need to show some core games or optional integration into the main 360 games.
For Kinect the gun would need a unique camera facing pattern to be tracked, maybe they could even use the infrared. They could make a Halo rifle replica, add it as an optional mode to Halo Reach (DLC?) and they would sell quite a few.
Wow, talk about missing the mark. It either should have been made for Move or for Kinect so that the aiming could follow the barrel. I actually think this would be a solution to make shooters possible for Kinect.
At first your comment seemed odd but after watching the video I now agree, the gameplay looks similar to an HD Jak and Daxter (minus the humor). Definitely interested to try it now.
If they wanted to, Microsoft could keep the 360 around for the casual market (price reduced + kinect bundle = casual win) and at the same time launch a new console for the core gamers.
