Ease of development does not necessarily coincide with cheaper prices. It just means there are less hurdles to jump over with hardware limitations.
It costs more to make a game look better, so as graphics, AI and other technically influenced development aspects improve, costs will rise. That's why it's more expensive to make a 360 game than it ever was to make a Playstation 1 game.
If you go by software sales, more people went and purchased ZombiU than they did Black Ops 2.
Certainly not the controller's fault that developers could not figure out how to do anything creative with it. The best games that actually used its functionality were often from Nintendo themselves. With an HD system that's compatible, it begs the question why Starcraft II isn't getting a port (outside the obvious reason of a small install base).
Makes you wonder how a POS article like this even managed to get submitted.
Oh right, it's N4G.
@dedicatedtogamers
Nah, I doubt it was anything like that. I've listened to many interviews and videos of D. Hayter. He seems to genuinely love the role very much. If anything, I have to give him kudos for allowing this to happen so passively. His instant tweet response, "Well, I had a good run, right?" (or something akin to that).
@NathanExplosion
I think it's more because this is not Solid Snake but in fact Naked Snake, AK...
The PS3 controller has just as much functionality (actually even more so because of the motion control), with analogue triggers and a more functional D-pad. I've played Borderlands and Bioshock on the PS3 controller without any issues, so I'm not sure what exactly you mean.
For starters Warcraft is a game franchise. MLP isn't.
SFM is more a piece of editing software than a video game and is used to create many game related videos which is perfectly fine. If this was about a large scale update to the software as a whole, I'd probably be more accepting of it. But it isn't, it's just about some minor update involving character models that aren't even from a video game. In that respect, I don't think it has any place on a personal blog, much less a video game news site.
After reading the first handful of comments, I should have figured people would be asinine enough to make a mountain out of a mole hill. It's a week long delay. In one region of the world. It's more strange than it is bad. I hardly see what the big deal is.
I disagree that the price cut alone is what helped the 3DS. The system's sales spiked when the price was cut, but it became a big seller that holiday season when Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D Land released around the same time.
If we're going to talk about how a price cut will help, let's at least acknowledge that this thing needs some killer app games as well.
@LOL_WUT
You know what I find incredibly ironic is you're the only one who has been on Pachter articles saying "how correct" he is and how we should "let him do his job."
Well here it is. He's disagreeing with something you've been saying for months now. Let it go. A price drop is not part of the problem and won't help the system.
Source Filmmaker is exactly as the name implies, for making videos/film that happens to use video game assets. I don't see any other SFM videos being posted as news and furthermore this is about MLP which is a television show made by Hasbro.
Now if you can find another (and more valid) connection to video games other than SFM, I'll gladly remove my own report.
In contrast I have to say that most of your comments I've seen on the matter are equally balanced. Personally I wish there was more of that type of criticism. It's pretty tiresome to be lambasted and insulted for speaking an honest opinion or even truth (akin to the Wii U/Unreal Engine 4 fiasco).
Frankly I just want to see the games that will be announced at E3. Smash Bros., Yoshi Yarn and Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem in particular.
Well, it is a first person shooter. I've seen quite a few people express their disdain for the monotony of that particular genre. I'm more of a fan for Kojima's work anyway. He and his team are innovators. They are always doing crazy things with his development style.
For $.30 heck yeah it is.
There really is no excuse for that. If anything that entire system seems completely counterproductive. There's no reason an official release should function so poorly when compared with illegal means of playing video games.
There's some irony in the headline alone. I remember when Sonic fans were flipping out because Sega chose to change the voices in the Sonic games. A lot of the response was how immature and stupid they were being and how it's "just a voice."
Fast forward a decade or so and suddenly the tables have turned and fans see greater value in their characters' voices and develop an attachment to them. It's quite an interesting observation in my opinion.
Go for it and good luck.
I don't see why the 360 or PS3 controllers are in the categories they were listed in. The PS3 controller works great and the triggers merely take some getting used to. The 360 controller is comfortable sure, but its Achilles' heel is that god awful d-pad, a game breaker for anyone wishing to play fighting games with it (and there are quite a few).
They're also adding a storage transfer system, automatic updates and background installs/downloads including when the system is turned off. Pretty damn slick update if I do say so myself.
