I heard that! This game looks sick. Can't wait to get my hands on it.
Don't know why people get up in arms about a single Pokemon. It's not like there won't be a hundred other ones with the new game.
I hear the "Gen 1 is the best" rhetoric often. I'm surprised more people don't realize that Gen 1 came out over a decade ago and those who grew up with Gen 1, well, grew up.
Wouldn't game shortages hurt any gaming platform?
It's me lol. People will assume I'm defending Nintendo even when I really am not.
But anyway, your assessment is pretty much spot on; summed up all of my thoughts completely. Well said.
"An HD PS2"?
Author, I have one thing to say... bullcrap. It plays PS3 AND PS4 games (that's what I call future proof), ya nimrod. No way it's near the power of a PS2 when it can play games of that magnitude.
What? He didn't become president until after Yamauchi retired in 2002. The N64 was hardly under his jurisdiction and he inherited the GCN (which came out in 2001). Finally, the Gameboy Micro wound up getting cannibalized by the DS, a far more successful handheld Nintendo platform that was under Iwata's belt.
I have PC games and a few consoles. You can get quality gamepads for your PC, so the whole mouse+keyboard thing is a little moot.
Well technically that's the choice of the publishers. And not all of the ports have been half-assed, thankfully. Need For Speed was a genuine effort and so is Deus Ex: HuRev.
He also works closely in Nintendo's software development. If he is to step down at some point (which of course is an inevitability), I would like to see him remain a part of the company's game development division.
I don't hate Microsoft at all. I hate their all but confirmed "always online strategy" and their incompetence and/or inability to rectify the PR issue. Maybe the author hasn't noticed but this sort of DRM has never worked and only punishes the consumer. PC gamers have had enough of it I'm sure and I doubt any console gamer wants it on their preferred platform.

Lady, I would like very much to shake your hand.
Nolan North is one of my favorite voice actors... but to have him be Snake would be rather off-putting for me. Couldn't they just get Doyle who voiced Big Boss in MGS4?
Like with a Halo release, Nintendo software have a particularly high bar of quality. If they didn't, you wouldn't have people trashing the console and saying it would be better if Nintendo went third party.
I sympathize with both gamers and Miyamoto here. On the one hand, Nintendo's in a corner where they have no games' on the Wii U's current time slot (yet another of Nintendo's unfortunately usual game droughts), they can only do so much to get more content out there.
On the other hand, gamers need software to play and without that software, interest for the Wii U will diminish (for both early adopters and those yet to adopt) and sales won't pick up.

Said it before and I'll say it again; the gaming industry is very unpredictable. I don't think anyone can make a prediction about new hardware and expect it to be 100% accurate. Who would have guessed that an underpowered console with an obscurely shaped controller would walk away selling almost 100 million units? Who could have guessed that Xbox LIVE would dominate the better portion of the generation in terms of software (not to mention receive many franchises once loyal to the Sony...

The DS is also the second best selling platform of all time, just under that of the PS2. Besides, the 3DS is currently selling pretty well, not to mention how quickly it was selling throughout the past year.

Here's the quote the article's talking about.
"Nintendo first party games are really fun. I don’t particularly “get” the GamePad controller, and it seems like the lower half of the DS to me. I’m not a huge player of DS titles, so the controls are largely lost on me. I don’t understand games like ZombiU, for example, as I think they would be more fun with conventional controls. I understand the features of games like Call of Duty — which really does use two screen...

The 3DS didn't bomb at all (a bomb is a product that ultimately was a failure like the Virtual Boy and Dreamcast), it just initially sold sluggishly until after its price was dropped and shortly thereafter two AAA Mario games were released. The only "attention" that price drop received was from all of the media outlets talking about it which only affects the likes of us who talk about games and the industry on the internet which only makes up ...
Okay, this made me lol. Bubble up for hilarity.
Very, very interesting stuff. Very user intuitive. I have to wonder what sort of games you could make and how cheaply they could be made with these kinds of tools.
