Nintendo's not exactly dead, you know. But let's play devil's advocate. Assuming Nintendo was in dire need of revival, Luigi would probably need a brand a new, AAA game on the Wii U and a cross-compatible 3DS game with online multiplayer.

Much too little, much too late in this instance. Where the heck was this five years ago? Thankfully their new wireless controllers don't have this problem (speaking specifically about the Wii U gamepad and Pro controller).
Redundant headlines aside, I don't see how the competition doing worse in sales could necessarily spell out something bad for Sony or Microsoft. If anything doesn't that give them more market share?
It's probably more surprising to see it as part of a simultaneous release. The Wii U's third party offerings have mostly been late releases compared to the 360 and PS3 versions. Though it's nice to see more releases coming on time. Take Injustice for example.
Bummer. I was hoping for more retro Disney game remakes. Aladdin and Chip 'n Dale would be fantastic on top of the upcoming Ducktales game.
While I do feel there are worse corporations from other industries out there, it's not like EA didn't take steps to earn this 'award'. That's what happens when you screw with your consumers.

Wasn't it already rumored that their specs would be similar somehow? It wouldn't surprise me if the power differences were minimal between the two.
I got your list right here. Stop finding ways to kill quality franchises, stop with the online passes, stop with the broken DRM, don't release broken products that don't function and most importantly (as well as to sum up) STOP screwing with your customers!

Back on topic, game shortages do indeed hurt the sales of almost any platform. If there is not much coming out in terms of software, then hardware sales probably won't really go anywhere fast around that time, especially when we're looking at its earliest years.

You're kidding, right? Iwata has development credits with Nintendo since the NES era. He helped create the Balloon Fighter and Kirby games. Unless you think he should have backed off with Nintendo's earliest and finest titles.

This was a pretty solid assessment. The reason the "cookie-cutter" stuff persists is because people keep buying them. Those are the games that make the most profit and that is a driving force in how our industry moves.
