Canada rules. This coming from a guy who endured a foot and a half of snow fall in one night last week. Montreal seems to be a real hotbed for game design and animation lately.

I think they'll squeeze DivX in the next update since MS already beat them to the punch. They'll want to get that out there ASAP. I can't wait. My PC is old as sh*t and converting files to a compatible format for PS3 takes forever. Streaming files turned out to be harder than I thought with the setup I run.

Awesome! That's it...awesome.

I wonder what the next old school Nintendo franchise showing up on the wii is. People keep bringing up Kid Icarus as a possibility. That could be cool. Or maybe Bayou Billie. Punch out?

Yikes dude. Just stop reading Surfer Girl stories. I personally hadn't heard about Red or Black yet. Maybe it's old news to Gamestop employees, but not all of us work there. I just don't see why you would bother with the story if you just wanted to call someone a twit. You're really just giving her more attention which, according to you, is all she's after. Right?

The game might have to be toned down for consoles, but I'm sure thy could make it look pretty enough with some effort. Far Cry 1 on the original xbox was nowhere near the PC version, but I really enjoyed playing it. Man I can't wait for Far Cry 2. With all the stealthy action games coming out lately I'm looking forward to some old school run+gun action. Realism be damned.

So instead of a half-assed Far Cry: Evolution port or something, PS3 owners are getting the same version of Far Cry 2 as everyone else. You think we give two sh*ts if 360 owners get to play the game too? Personally I have better things to do with my life than sit around giggling about how 360 owners won't get to play some "exclusive" game, but you go right ahead if that's what you're into.

Seriously, what's the big deal with exclusivity? If you play a game and enjoy ...

I despised COD: 3, but I played the PS3 version which was a buggy mess, so maybe I missed out.

Sounds neat, but 6 months ago the next big thing was supposed to be quantum computing. How you can perform complex calculations by measuring the spinning velocity of an electron is beyond me, but apparently it works. The point being someone's always got an idea for some sort of processor that's going to blow the old x86 architecture out of the water. Hasn't happened yet. It's been what? 20 years? I'm all for new tech, but I'll believe this when I see it.

Anyone else notice that...

There are a couple of articles about it over on IGN. Not a whole lot is known yet, though.

The patch still isn't live in New Brunswick. Not that it's supposed to make much of a difference anyway.
I found the game would usually freeze on me once almost every time I started it up after about 15 minutes. Then when I restarted it would be fine for as long as I played.
Honestly I don't really care anymore as I've finished the game and there's not much worth going back for. It was fun for a while I guess.

That's fine for Guitar Hero. I mean the series doesn't need to be innovative, it just needs a yearly pack of new songs. When they try to do something new with Guitar Hero, it's just going to end up sucking like the battle mode. COD worries me a little. They really should be taking their time with those.

Old screens, but god damn that game looks sharp. It's only a second year title too. I can't wait to see what we'll be getting 5 years from now.

Single games DO sell consoles. Just look at Halo. I went with the PS3 over the 360 because of the RROD issue, but also, more importantly, because I prefer God of War to Halo. MGS: 4 should move a few units. At this point, however, I don't see as Sony fans really have to "wait" for anything. There are plenty of great games available now and while the hardware isn't the number one seller, there are definitely enough units out there to keep the quality software flowing.

Seconded...or technically fourthed I suppose. What exactly qualifies as a killer app nowadays? Do you need to sell more than Halo to be a "real" killer app? Is a game going to have to single handedly push the PS3 past the 360 and wii to be considered a killer app? If I had worked on Uncharted, R&C, Resistance, Warhawk or Motorstorm I'd be genuinely insulted by this article.

Edit: I forgot Heavenly Sword. Thanks Danja. In knew I was forgetting something.

Does anybody really know what the hell FF VS. 13 is? I get FF 13...it's the new Final Fantasy. What the hell is VS. 13? Is it a completely separate game set in the same universe as the normal game? An action game? Online? Or did they just decide to develop two new games side by side and they wanted to attach the FF moniker to both? I just don't get the naming scheme. FF: X2 really had me confused for a while too. If Vs. is just a spin off of 13, they should have called it something along the...

Carmageddon 2 was my favorite driving game ever. Then they ruined it with the third one.

I've never used Gametap myself, but I always thought the idea was intriguing. I thought the site was starting to really catch on. Losing EA can't be a good sign, though.

They've managed to advertise in movies for years without it really being noticeable at all. If the game industry can pull it off as smoothly as Hollywood has, then I don't see it being a problem. Devs and publishers need to get paid too and with the rising costs of game development they may need those advertising dollars just to turn a profit. So long as they're subtle and don't overdo it, who really cares? It's not like we're going to see Pepsi ads turning up in Mega Man games or anything.
