Seems like a real slap in the face to Harmonix who created Guitar Hero in the first place. A little professional courtesy would be nice considering all the money Harmonix made Activision.
Activision probably realizes now that they have an inferior product on the market and this is their way of retaining market share...by screwing Harmonix and any PS3 owners that want to play their new game.
I expect Nyko or Mad Catz or someone will release new controllers that are compatible wi...
You make a good point, but if you find a mod you like just start telling your friends about it. If it doesn't suck it probably won't be long before there are lots of people playing it.
3dRealms had Blood virtually finished when they sold the game to Monolith so they could focus on Shadow Warrior. Stupid decision imo because Shadow Warrior kind of sucked and Blood was awesome. I thought they had developed Prey though..makes sense that they didn't. With Shadow Warrior and Blood I guess they were working on those before Duke Forever was announced.
edit: At least that's how I remember it going down with Blood. That was a long time ago.
I never really bought in to the whole "site X is biased against Sony" thing, but Jesus...they actually said in their preview that the game "looks pretty good". Pretty good?!? WTF? Those guys at 1up are out of their minds.
Ouch...burn on the wii. Mark's usually very tactful.
I've always found IGN reviews on any system to be fairly unbiased affairs. I don't really see why this should change anything. I mean it's hardly surprising that a guy who works in the games industry should marry a lady who works in the game industry as well. They probably talked it over with their bosses, confirmed that there really wasn't any conflict of interest and decided that it's really none of the public's business.
I don't think that was in-game. It would be crazy if it was, though.
It does seem like a pretty stupid rumor to me. I mean I love my PS3 and I'd like to see it get another great game, but Microsoft published Mass Effect. That seems to pretty much confirm exclusivity in my books.
Ummm...the article definitely mentions a possible November release date for Gears of War 2. Did you read the article or just the title?
He could be downloading it. There's a European guy on my friends list that says he was playing it all morning..drop ships and all.
@tsch67: Nice first post. You actually contributed something useful. Most people around here just fling poo at each other and say dumb sh!t like "Jump In" and Play Beyond". Welcome to N4G.
I noticed his voice definitely doesn't sound the same too.
Man, I've been waiting so long for this game. I used to love Duke Nukem. I had the Plutonium Pack expansion and everything. Used to make my own levels with the build engine. It was my first online game...over a 36.6k modem with the kid next door. thought it was superior to Quake in almost every way. Then they took 10 years to make a sequel and I'm honestly a lot less excited about it than I would have been before. Mayb...
Could be a coincidence. Just seems odd that roughly 3 weeks after some hackers figure out how to access RSX through Linux Sony decides to change the way graphics commands are handled.
On another note, since there are probably some pretty serious nerds reading this thread: Anyone using Linux on their PS3's? How is it? I use Ubuntu on my home PC so I'd love to try it out, but I heard Yellow Dog sucks and everything else is a bit shoddy yet on the PS3.
@jaja1434: Maybe the overwhelming anti-Halo sentiment on this gamers site proves that Halo isn't really a gamers game after all...or maybe everyone just wants to hate on the popular game. Kind of like how everyone starts pretending to hate their favorite band once they obtain a little commercial success because they just aren't cool anymore. Who knows.
@MR. Marbles: Kinda like that other @ss backwards system with the weird hardware design...what was it called...PS2 or something? My memory's a little hazy. I think it ended up selling pretty well though.
I need to put my ear about 4 inches away from my PS3 to hear any noise coming out of that system. It seems to run pretty cool too. The only place that heats up at all is right over the exhaust vents and a tiny bit on the bottom (flat side if you have it vertical). I keep it on pretty much all the time like my PC and it's roughly the same temperature whether it's idle or playing Warhawk.
Start getting excited. I've been playing it all day and it's awesome. This is the first Unreal Tournament game I really spent much time with and I love it. If you played much Quake 3 back in the day and enjoyed it, you should love UT3. My roommate's a bit of a sniper, so he doesn't like it to much, but if you like twitch shooters UT3 is awesome.
@MK_Red: If you weren't already maxed out I'd give bubbles for the God of War comment. Kratos will destroy Nero, Dante and Ryu in 2008.
Hardly surprising. We can't really blame Sony for protecting their investment. I mean the RSX exploit just brought hackers one step closer to being able to play backups on the PS3. That's the fun of the hacking world. They'll crack the PS3's security, Sony will patch the exploit, hackers will crack it again, etc, etc. It just wouldn't be fun if Sony gave up and let them do whatever they wanted. I give this 3 days max before some hacker figures out a way around whatever Sony did.
Okay, I just tried this and it's a really cool map. Completely professional. Here's the thing...I don't get how the "friends" system works in this damn game. I was expecting it to integrate your existing friends list like the Burnout demo, but they didn't do that. So now every time I get a friend request I click yes to accept and it doesn't add the person. Instead it gives me the option to send them a friend request...which I've tried and never heard back. Could be nobody wants to b...
